Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

(Redirected from Wikipedia:RFPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection).

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to remove obvious vandalism.

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Request a specific edit be made to a protected page

Request the non-urgent protection of multiple pages that do not require immediate administrator attention

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Frequent edits by various accounts which have been blocked, most recently by User:EuropeanBrandy. David O. Johnson (talk) 06:59, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

This also probably falls under WP:ARBPIA. ~2026-47514-09 (talk) 11:43, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Article does not fall strictly under PIA. The main account named above as disruptive has been blocked as a sock. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:59, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – As seen in the page history, there has been constant vandalism from different TAs. Equivalent-Text2598 (talk) 10:07, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A lot of disruptive edits in the last week or so. Requesting temporary protection. Imcdc Contact 11:21, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

The 'disruptive edits' are by a single user. Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. The Bushranger One ping only 21:34, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Slow but significant rate of vandalism with some constructive TA edits. Long history of previous protections. Entranced98 (talk) 12:58, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Anonymous unsourced edits Kongo96 (talk) 13:12, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: I'm requesting semi-protection for this page. An IP user, spotted as early as June 2026, keeps reverting the page to a very particular and specific version of the page with various errors in style and factuality, the most notable of which being:

 • using an outdated logo that hasn't been used since the 2010s
 • adding redlinks to pages that aren't necessary such as Media Vizion and Concord Investment Group (parent companies, haven't got pages)
 • adding blatant misinfo such as an association with Opinion and E Diela Shqiptare (both TV Klan programs)
 • misspelling Bypass Show as By Pass Show (it's never spelled separately, check any source)
 • removing useful wikilinks like those to Top Media Group (competitor), Ferma VIP (a show it produces), and Tring (media company) (its affiliate)
 • a typo on "politcal", as well as various lint errors
 • a citation tag on the imported television series aired on Vizion Plus keeps getting removed (it isn't sourced)

Unfortunately, articles of Albanian TV stations like this and Albanian Screen are prone to edits with either fake info or edit warriors with questionable and unclear interests, which fly in the face of constructive editors that make routine copy edits. Fallbackintoreality (tc) 19:23, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

A look shows the same user has made edits like this, and they've been blocked before. IP address(es) blocked. for three months The Bushranger One ping only 21:51, 1 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Half the sections is just random TA garbage/new accounts requests splains (💬/📝) 00:08, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – CuttingHomicide sock keeps returning. grapesurgeon (talk) 00:08, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: Since October 7th, there has been a steady stream of deletions and vandalism, often by temporary accounts, excising any mention of Jews or Israel. The effort has been successful and most of the deletions are still in effect.

Examples:

The case for protection is clear. Sobelone96 (talk) 00:40, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

DeclinedPages are not protected preemptively. Actually the case for not protecting is clear, as the last disruption to the article was in June. If disruption reoccurs, please re-request. - The Bushranger One ping only 00:55, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Ah, thanks for clarifying. I was not aware that this would be considered preemptive given that this has been going on for a while. You say that three months ago (June) is long enough that the page is not longer considered at risk: what would the typical time-frame be? Sobelone96 (talk) 01:23, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply
This is a case of "I'll know it when I'll see it", but honestly? Unless it's a very long term consistent pattern, if the most recent disruption wasn't within the last week, it's stale. If it is long-term and slow-burn vandalism, pending changes can be considered, but I don't think that's necessary here. Either they've gotten bored and wandered off to be a nusiance elsewhere, in which case it's entirely unnecessary, or if they turn up again, they can be blocked and/or the page protected. - The Bushranger One ping only 01:25, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Sounds good, thanks for clarifying. Sobelone96 (talk) 01:32, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

@Aesurias: The problem was that, by a quirk of fate, two TAs both ending in -83 were tag-teaming their edit warring. User(s) blocked: ~2026-47734-83 (talk · contribs) blocked., that should put a stop to it. If it doesn't, it's hammertime. - The Bushranger One ping only 01:17, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply
Oh yeah, I also disputed the edit warring on the the talk page, talking about the information that the now-blocked users were adding, reverting, and then edit warring. @Aesurias, you're free to do any replies there! SimpleObjects-9ei 🍂/🌰/🤗 (see talk) 01:25, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Reason: This redirect has been repeatedly used as a sandbox. Should be indefinitely semi-protected like the target page. Johnj1995 (talk) 02:56, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Temporary users seem to be using this talk page in an attempt to get an AI response, like asking ChatGPT to generate an image. (To be honest, all AI-related talk pages should at least be watched by more people...). - OpalYosutebitotalk』 『articles I want to eat03:06, 2 September 2026 (UTC)reply

(Non-administrator comment) Okay… this actually made me laugh. Who seriously thinks that Wikipedia of all websites would be able to generate their AI images. Staying on topic, this should be enough for an indef protection given that Talk:WordPad just got indef semi because people were using it instead of the actual software. Hi, Proto. As you've commented on the Giovanni33 case before, I thought I would direct you to new discussion, in case you have missed it. Jayjg has now confirmed through checkuser that Professor33, NeoOne, and CleanSocks are all sockpuppets of Giovanni33. Giovanni has now come as close as I think he can come (without losing face) to admitting sockpuppetry. He has agreed here that it doesn't pay, and has asked to be unblocked on certain conditions which, if enforced, would make the use of sockpuppets completely futile. I've made a proposal here, at the Incidents Noticeboard. Also, this section of Danny's talk page gives a summary of this history and contains links to all or nearly all the places where it has been discussed. The blocking admin has indicated that he's prepared to unblock early, and I'd be happy with that, but I think we need to work out the conditions that Giovanni agrees to first. Assuming that the sockpuppetry stops, I'd also be happy with removing the puppeteer tag from his own user page, in order to help him to make a clean start, free from any unnecessary humiliation. Don't feel you have to get involved, but if you have time, a comment at the noticeboard would be welcome. I'm hoping to have this sorted out as soon as possible, because I'm about to go on wiki-break to finish some writing, and will probably be taking Wikipedia off my "Favorites" in my browser before I go to bed tonight. The infobox of article states that over 1,154 Israeli security personnel died in the war, which is incorrect. The cited source clearly states that figure also includes soldiers killed by Hezbollah attacks, fighting in Lebanon, the West Bank and other fronts, as well as those who died due to accidents or even suicide, which is what their remembrance day (Yom Hazikaron) commemorates every year. The infobox is supposed to include only those who were killed in the October 7 attacks and fighting in Gaza ever since. I'd like to ask someone to please replace the number 1,154 for 864 using the following source (per WP:CALC, it's the sum of 331 soldiers and 58 police officers killed in Israel on October 7 plus 473 soldiers and 2 policemen killed in Gaza during the war): [1] Therefore, the total number of Israelis killed in the war (both civilians and security personnel) at the end of infobox should say 1,751+ (including dead hostages) instead of 2,041+

If that is too complicated, at least a footnote should be added to the 1,154 number saying the figure includes those killed in other related fronts of the war. Thank you very much. Davidhiestand (talk) 22:43, 15 August 2026 (UTC)reply

Please include Mohammad Pakpour and Abdolrahim Mousavi to the Iranian “Commanders and leaders” section of the 2026 Iran war infobox.

Proposed additions:

Both were senior military commands at the beginning of the war whose successors are currently included in the infobox:

 • Mohammad Pakpour was Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC when the war began.
 • Abdolrahim Mousavi was Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces when the war began.

Specifically there is a belligerent consistency issue. The infobox includes American and Israeli military leadership, including Dan Caine and Eyal Zamir. Mousavi occupied the comparable position at the head of Iran’s armed forces when the war began. And Pakpour commanded the IRGC. Apricciardi (talk) 15:38, 31 August 2026 (UTC)reply
