So last night sucked. Well, it was fun seeing everybody again.. and Adam was rolling a spliff when i walked in the door.. he said he did it for me. haha.. i don't believe him.

What sucked was that I was trying to go to sleep last night and I couldn't. I was just lying there, realizing that I have never gone to sleep at Grinnell without talking to Yancey. I mean, i suppose we only talked about 5 nights a week first semester last year.. t hen second semester, when we started dating, we started talking every single night. But still.. the 5 nights a week from first semester last year is a lot. I was lying there realizing that I'm never going to talk to him before i fall asleep again... and that made me very sad. I almost called one of you, but it was very late and i didn't really have anything to talk about it. Finally after about 2 hours of being sad, i fell asleep.

Paul Bateman asked me to stay with him last night.. but i was REALLY tired.. maybe i should have. I probably will tonight! :) So that will make me less sad.. hopefully.

It was awesome to see you, Lexi and Allie.. I had a great time with both of you! Thanks so much for letting me stay with you!

Linda, I miss you! You must come visit... all of you must come visit... SOON! (even the asshole (aka. yancey) is coming to visit... surely my three best friends can come too!)

I love you!

HEy everyone!

Yay I'm glad to see that LExi finally posted. Not that I'm much better. However, I do not have much to report since Lindsay talked quite acurately about last weekend. This week has been ok. I got drunk on wine tonight and had sex...with Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. It made me miss you all. Then I went to Tyler Stewarts place and hung out with him (slash smoked a little bit of super strong pot). I'll be home the 8th also and so will Linda. Chalmers. Not to be confused with little Linda Brown, who like our friend Tyler is of color. Linda Chalmers is very white. And yes, I am drunk on a Wednesday. I love you all. Night :)

Hey girls! I have to hurry because I have to get to my harp lesson. I just wanted you to see this email I just got from my RLC :

In 1987, an RLC decided to hold a sexual health study break and featured a condom sculpting contest. The idea that a small, Midwestern college would encourage its students to engage in fun play with condoms was very controversial. No one had any idea that the story would make the Des Moines Register or that Newsweek would publish the judging criteria for the condom sculpting contest in their next issue. And no one expected the alumni outrage that followed.

As a result, condom sculptures never happened again.

Until now…..18 years later.

Norris Lounge

September 28th

9:00 p.m.

We’re learning about sexual health, getting to know the health center, and having fun with condoms.

Food and prizes will be available.

How funny is that? Also, I think I'm just going to visit each of you over fall break (I have nothing better to do, and no home). It's from like the 15th- 23rd of October. (in like 3 weeks!) But yea, if there's a certain time that you think i should see you.. let me know! Ok, I'm off to my lesson! Bye girls!

carrie_b: I suck as well

Hey guys...

I know I haven't updated forever..I'm sorry. I've been really stressed out/sad the past week or so and I'm not sure why, so I'm trying to get that fixed. This won't be a long entry, just wanted to let you all know that I'm alive (sort of), and I love you all and I'm sorry for not updating. Here's a quick update:

-Went to the first Wabash game, didn't see Aaron (except on the field), talked to Nate Hunt however, went to the Watermelon bust and hooked up with Shane, felt fine about it, then started feeling weird about it mid week per usual.

-Went out way too much last week, got into 3 bars with my friend's fake ID that will be mine in almost 1 month.

-Classes are ok, don't feel like I'm applying myself as well as a I should, and I get distracted a lot.

-Went to Circle Center Sunday with some girls, bought 2 halters at H&M for 5.90 each, aren't you guys proud of me?

So it's raining really hard right now and I'm "studying" accounting, which is sadly my favorite class right now. I think I'm going home this weekend, the whole weekend not just for the Wabash game, so I can go the doctor to figure out why I've been sad/having anxiety attacks. Linds is going home too I think...Ty you should totally make the trip! PS Ty, Jackie's friend goes to Iowa State in Iowa City...is that close to you? She said she'd drive me there and we could go visit our friends together. Let me know. Love you girls!

Hey everyone!

So it looks like I'm a loser 'cause I'm the only one who hasn't posted yet! Well, it has been a very interesting (almost) week since I've been here. It started off great, Wednesday night I stayed with Molly, Steph and Al and we went to Josh and Zach's really nice apartment and had a floor reunion. I finally kissed Mike (the guy on my floor that I was obsessed with trying to make out with last year!) Thursday my parents came and I moved into the house, ran around Btown and did errands with them, and went out to dinner with Lexi and HAdley. Later that night I went out with my pledge class and it was fun, but I ended up getting picked up by Tyler Stewart and staying with Molly and them again in their apartment! The next few days were kind of weird...I was really homesick Friday because it's really overwhelming to move in with 100 girls...it's like you feel like you should be with everyone and best friends already, and then it's hard to just chill and be by yourself. I called my mom and for some reason that made me cry, but then I talked to this girl Kristin about it and found out she was feeling the same way. I also talked to this girl Jackie and she was feeling sad too (her boyfriend is a Senior at Wabash and plays football so she's like never going to get to see him this fall!) and she told me anytime I wanted to go home she would drive me because that means she can go see Pete (her bf). So that night we all went "frat hopping" so to speak and had a good time...Saturday during the day I got sad again and Saturday night kind of sucked because after sake bombing at a sushi place (which was fun!) I went to a party with the ex 4th floor-ers and Allison refused to give me a ride home because "no, you live too far," so we kind of got in a fight and I ended up walking home at 3am...and it was kind of scary!I was really homesick!

Sunday I started feeling normal again, and by then I was spending more time with my pledge sisters and feeling more at home here. Classes yesterday were fine, I still don't think it's hit me that I'm back in school and have to do work! I had a job interview yesterday at "Top it OFf" which is a gift shop in town that sells fraternity and sorority stuff...and I got the job! I was so excited! They make clothes and bags and stuff so it will be good "Apparel Merchandising" experience. Last night I actually ended up going out? Because Sigma Chi was having a random Monday night party and it was so fun! I somehow made it to my 9:30 today...hehe...but the weather here is horrible! It has poured non-stop all day! It's gross! But yeah, so I feel 100% better then I did at first...the more time I spend here the more I realize that this is a good place for me. I want you all to visit and see me!

So okay I have no new boy updates! They haven't been my focus so far...there were some cuties last night but nothing happened. I still think about Aaron (Tyler quit rolling your eyes at me!) and it doesn't help that I have Jackie, who's bf is friends with him, right down the hall to talk to. I haven't called him yet though which is a good thing...and I know I'll see him at the next Wabash party I go to. Is it dumb that I wish he would ask me to homecoming? Or at least call me back from...um..the last time I called him which was last Tuesday night? Oy...I still need to find someone to ask to my dance on the 17th! Aaah! Okay so with Scott living here, I was wondering if it would be weird to ask him to like go get coffee or something? It'd be kind of nice to just see him and catch up...let me know what you think.

Okay well I think that's all...I miss you lovlies...and will talk to you soon!

mirandahobbes: what a day!

Hey girlies! I thought I should post today because I've we all suck and haven't posted in a while and because i have some exciting news!

THE NEWS:
Sierra, Sarah, Jeff (her boyfriend), and I all wanted to get a quad. The way decide who gets it is dumb... we all had to go there today and write down a number between 1 and 30... then they draw a number out of a box... and since I'm excited, I bet you guessed that we picked the right number!! So now the for of us have four little singles, a common room, and a bathroom! It's going to ROCK... Sarah and Jeff are together and they're going to live in one room.. sierra and I each get our own room.. and the extra room is going to be our dressing room! haha.. i'm so SO psyched! Now all of you girls need to come visit next year to check out our sweetass quad!

What else is going on in my life? School is starting to get REALLY stressful... we don't have much longer.. but i have SO SO much due! it's ridiculous... but oh well.. i'll get through it... hopefully w/ out a visit to the mental health center.. that's so sad that my goal each semester is simply to not need to go there... oh well...

hmmm... what else? Oh, Yancey's still awesome... we got in a fight last night.. which sucked.. but then we made up again! YAY! All three of you girls need to come down to Atlanta sometime to meet him. It's so crazy that me.. your friend Tyler, the cynical slut has a boyfriend.. haha... and don't tell anybody, but i love him... God why am i so lame?! haha.. oh well :)

Ok, well i think that's it for now, I need to go to a meeting about study abroad and then I have massive amounts of homework to do before we CELEBRATE for getting our quad! I'm out! I LOVE YOU ALL!!

carrie_b: Classic Allie Story

Okay people, I am posting again! You all need to post too so it doesn't look like I'm hogging the whole thing! So anyways, as I type this I am looking out over the Hudson River in NYC. I've had a lovely time here so far, I've been to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, a ballet, and shopping on 5th Avenue. Tomorrow it's Soho and Hairspray (the broadway show)! The weather is a bit chilly, but I'm so happy to be here, it doesn't matter. At least it's been sunny! But okay, so I thought I would share this funny little story with you all, something that happened to me today:

Okay, so this morning I thought it would be fun to do some exploring on my own. After waking up at 7:30, I got ready, had breakfast, and decided to walk around the Upper West Side (where my grandparents live.) I headed out at about 9:30 and began walking up Amsterdam Ave. and looking for shops, none of which were open quite yet. I walked from about 66th street all the way to 80th street, where I finally found a Starbucks. Since I was feeling ultra-posh and sophisticated for being on my own in New York, I thought I'd stop in and get a coffee while I waited for stores to open. I ordered my Grande Vanilla Latte, take it and sit at a table facing the window so I can watch people walk by. I also grabbed a section of the New York Times to read, so I would look extra cool. The article was actually about genetics and race, which was quite interesting, and as I sipped my coffee, read my Times and looked out unto the street, I was feeling pretty suave. Now, I'm not exactly sure how this happened, it was all so fast, but I think I was doing something with the newspaper, and before I could do anything to stop it...that's right, my almost full, scalding hot latte fell over, and completely drenched my left leg. It me a second to react, and the coffee continued to spill all over the floor. The other people in the place tried not to look at me, and the attendant came over with a paper towel, and advised me to get up so that I wouldn't get any more wet. I was so embarassed! Not only did I drench myself in front of everyone at Starbucks, I was out 4.30 for the drink, and I was about 20 blocks away from my Grandparent's apartment, and I hadn't even gone shopping yet! The attendant offered to get me a new drink, but I was so embarassed, I put my paper away, apologized and bolted out the door. As I walked back towards the 60s, I couldn't help but laugh at myself. I guess I thought I was too cool, and something had to happen to remind me that I'm still clumsy old Allie from Indiana! I made it back to their apartment, changed jeans, and headed out again. This time I didn't stop for coffee!

I hope you all are doing well, Ty and Linds, I will see u this weekend!! I'll talk to you soon! Post, bitches! :-)

Ok, I'm sorry little Linda but your boyfriend is a DUMBASS!! seriously... i get back from opening night of the Vagina Monologues (which went great!) and i have a message that says "we need to talk"... i'll just copy and paste because i have a TON of homework left to do!

danyul peatree: vagina monologues
tyler barreto: why do you have to talk to me about it?
danyul peatree: how can you adequately play someone who has been through a sex change?
tyler barreto: are you kidding me?
tyler barreto: i dont' pick my piece
danyul peatree: not kidding at all
tyler barreto: i had nothing to do w/ that decision
danyul peatree: yeah, but does it really serve a purpose?
tyler barreto: what do you mean?
danyul peatree: i duno, when i saw em, they just seemed to be about 60% worthless
tyler barreto: there should be a point?
tyler barreto: to all of them?
danyul peatree: yes
tyler barreto: why?
danyul peatree: when eve ensler came here and tried to defend it for an hour or so, i got the idea that there was supposed to be a point beyond being against domestic violence
tyler barreto: what purpose is there to any other play?
danyul peatree: this is no mere play
tyler barreto: WOW!
tyler barreto: a point behind being against domestic violence?!
danyul peatree: no, i understand being against domestic violence
danyul peatree: however, only a small portion of the play has anything to do with that
tyler barreto: the rest is about impowering women
danyul peatree: the rest of it claims that a person, namely a woman, is not able to have an identity without seeing and understanding their genitalia
tyler barreto: which is a big step towards being against domestic violence
tyler barreto: it's about impowering women
tyler barreto: don't be a typical wally daniel... you're way better than that
danyul peatree: no, domestic violence has to do with stupid men getting annoyed at the little personality differences between men and women, not about the difference between internal and external genitalia
tyler barreto: it also has to do w/ women
tyler barreto: the way being molested affects them
tyler barreto: the way that their mindset can keep them from bad things
danyul peatree: so, teaching about understanding genitalia helps prevent problems, or is a way of dealing with them after the fact?
tyler barreto: why are you so opposed to it?
danyul peatree: it just seems like stupid liberal feminist bullshit in which everything is ok, because men have oppressed women for so long
danyul peatree: and from this, especially in this play, women are trying to reach the high and mighty pinnacle of being like a 19 year old man in things like masturbation and realizing the full potential of their genitalia in promiscuous sex
tyler barreto: is that not appropriate?
danyul peatree: no, these thinga are not ok
tyler barreto: why not?
danyul peatree: even though it is a means through which women will become slightly empowered, it is a mentality which will lead to std's and rampant pregnancies
tyler barreto: WHAT?!
tyler barreto: what makes you think that?
danyul peatree: the base idea of empowering women is good, but this is a not a good vehicle through which to portray that
tyler barreto: why not?
danyul peatree: sex, masturbation
tyler barreto: whats wrong w/ sex?
tyler barreto: you have sex
tyler barreto: you masterbate
tyler barreto: women can do it too... get over it
danyul peatree: these are the bad things that guys do, and in empowering themselves, women should not try to become like that, but should instead try to go for something higher
tyler barreto: like what?
tyler barreto: and why are sex and masterbation bad things?
danyul peatree: well, masturbation leads to the objectifying of whatever image you are thinking about when masturbating
tyler barreto: so
danyul peatree: and sex, while in itself isn't a bad thing, when abused in a promiscuous lifestyle leads to all sorts of problems, that if practiced by all of society would lead to the end of society
danyul peatree: isn't the whole point to go against objectificaiton
tyler barreto: this is not about abusing sex
tyler barreto: it's about not being afraid to talk about it
tyler barreto: it's about being able to be open about it
danyul peatree: in masturbation men create an image in their heads of what women will do, and when real women don't end up doing those things, men tend to have problems, hence a cause of domestic violence
tyler barreto: women have ALWAYS done ALL of this.. we just dont talk about it like you do
tyler barreto: i think that causes VERY little domestic violence incidences
danyul peatree: you can talk about sex without glorifying it to the point where it is ok in all situations if it is consentual
tyler barreto: how does this glorify sex?
danyul peatree: maybe we should talk about morals and ethics and try to have stronger women talk to the stupid men of the world instead of teaching the stupid women of the world to masturbate to get rid of all their problems with men
danyul peatree: the bob story
tyler barreto: women know how to masterbate
tyler barreto: they always have
tyler barreto: men can't be taught
tyler barreto: people have tried
danyul peatree: the girl doesn't like him at all, but still has sex with him, and in the portion of the monologues that i heard, he was the only person portrayed in a positive light
tyler barreto: there will always be bad men in the world
tyler barreto: i don't know daniel
tyler barreto: i have a shit ton of homework to do
danyul peatree: and there will always be women who try to empower themselves by trying to become men
danyul peatree: alright, well have a good evening
danyul peatree: it was a nice talk
tyler barreto: go talk to your other wallys about how much you hate the vagina monologues
danyul peatree: already have
danyul peatree: trying to spread the word
tyler barreto: my respect for you used to be VERY high... it's pretty much fallen to the ground
tyler barreto: you're ridiculous!
tyler barreto: bye!

Seriously!.. i'm so mad I want to cry! I think it's because i feel sort of betrayed. I always thought he was different, smarter, more open and liberal than every other wally... but holy shit is he brainwashed as fuck! It disgusts me.

I have to go do my homework.. i also have to try to stop thinking about this before i go kill someone.. bye! I love you all!
