That sounds so exhausting... like man, I'm in a small fandom, I ship A/B HARD, it's my OTP... and there are a couple other ships I think can be fun but I'm not invested in them. But if someone says 'Oh, I'm thinking about writing C/D or C/E', you can BET I'll be cheering them on because more fic in the fandom is more fic in the fandom-- hell, someone said 'I'm thinking about writing B/F', a ship I will never read about, BUT, I still replied to say I thought they should write it, and mentioned another thing I hadn't read just so they'd know they weren't the only one who shipped it!

Like, no one is making you read stuff outside your main ship but by god, you get more flies with honey than with vinegar, and the last thing I want is for people to think 'oh, this fandom is not friendly, and people who ship A/B are real jerks about other ships', you know? I want the fandom to be fun for everyone even when we don't always read each other's stuff, so we can still talk about the thing we all like and have a good time.

Man, that is beyond obnoxious. I get not enjoying certain ships (or whatever aspect of fandom) but WHY be an asshole to people who do? Seriously, that sucks so much.

Yeah, it's similar to saying "Calm down" when someone is panicking -- even if I agreed with the goal, the method of going about it has a 0% chance of working lol.

If anything, having die-hard Main Ship shippers constantly telling me off for having fun might inspire me to keep making stuff for my side ships and decrease my chance of ever producing works for the main ship at all because of the negative associations involved.

I don't have NOTPs or ships I outright hate, but there are ships I kind of dislike and there's always one common denominator: there's a shipper that's incredibly entitled and annoying who doesn't have any business of their own to mind. these people are also usually the ones to complain when a fandom is "dying" like gee who's the reason people don't wanna share their fanworks anymore??

I was guilty of this when I was writing Deadpool fic long ago...and I agree with you. It was awkward, in my stories at least. It's quite probable that there are people who could do it better - just not me!

My first thought was that Alfred is so clearly a sigma that he would exist somewhere in the pack but outside the pack dynamics.

... what the hell is wrong with me? Jesus!

Now someone needs to write that fic. And when I say someone, I mean someone who is not me.
