Hi :) I'm new, and not sure if this is okay, but...

I've needed glasses since like, 7th grade, but after 8th, I just stuck to contacts. The kids in my grade were fond of telling me that my frames made me look like a secretary -- not something I loved hearing. But now I want to try wearing glasses again, I just don't know what style/color/anything would look good on me. I was hoping you lovely ladies wouldn't mind giving me some advice.

Here's a pic if it helps:

12:54 pm - Unbelievable!

Even eye surgery 5 years ago can't keep me away from needing to wear glasses.  I suppose...Once a girl with glasses...ALWAYS a girl with glasses!! :)  These are my new pair!  Enjoy!

08:37 pm - buying glasses from bj's wholesale club?
has anyone here ever purchased their glasses from bj's wholesale club? i just saw my eye doctor last week and need to update my glasses rx. i need high-index lenses due to my extreme myopia, and it would be nice to update the frames. i really can't afford the $500-range prices my eye doctor is offering, but i don't want to end up with less-than-perfect glasses just to save some cash. any and all advice/experiences are welcome, and thank you!

11:16 pm - Hi everyone!
So, I'm kinda new around here, and soon to be joining the army of girls with glasses. As expected, I'm totally confused when it comes to choosing THE perfect frames, so... would anyone be willing to give an opinion?

This be me:

From oldest to newest, these last two are a pretty good representation of my usual self.
Now, I wanted some radd glasses, like those huge vintage-y ones that look like Wayfarers? But I don't know If I'd be able to pull them off.

What do you think?

Oh, and if this kind of post isn't allowed, feel free to poke me with a stick. ;)

04:59 pm - My vintage glasses
A couple of people have asked for pics of my collection, so here it is.  These 10 are the ones I wear on a day to day basis.

My day to day glasses
The front left red pair and back right navy pair are my favourites right now.

03:04 pm - Intro from a vintage frames fan
Hi,

I've been wearing glasses for the last 26 years, & vintage 1950's cateye frames for the last 10 or so.  I started collecting the cateye frames when tiny frames came in,  since I have a big round face & look ridiculous in tiny frames.

I now have around 2 dozen pairs & my optometrist thinks I'm a freak!  I'm wearing one of them in my avatar pic.

I'm also a big fan of other women wearing glasses...

I'm 26 years old and I've worn glasses for most of my life. I have strabismus in my right eye -- basically, it drifts inward and I don't have great vision in that eye. I'm self-conscious about that but not about my glasses, which I love.

I've been thinking about getting some sweet vintage-inspired cat eye glasses and having my prescription lenses put in. Is that possible? How would I go about doing that for cheap? (I have no insurance! Awful, I know...)

i'm twenty-five, and i've been wearing glasses/contacts for twenty years!

( photos of my current frames.Collapse )

and now, a question. i am very nearsighted (my rx is -8.75 in both eyes) and without corrective lenses i just see blurs. do any of you bespectacled girls have tips for eye makeup application? i've tried those magnified makeup mirrors, but i still have to get very close to the mirror to see anything. i'm okay putting on mascara and undereye concealer, but eyeliner and eyeshadow are impossible. any advice or words of wisdom would be lovely! thanks.
