I met a guy Ben who'se in my Calc and Biotech classes. We are probably going to study together. The Calc teacher doesn't talk very loudly, and he isn't the most interesting, so he is hard to pay attention to. It sucks that the calc book comes in this set of four: one textbook and three supplemental books. At least all of the calc classes use the same set. Music theory is starting out slow. The class assumes no musical knowledge to begin with. However, I did learn how to remember the notes in bass cleff and why chords sound good. When an instroment plays a note, what we hear as the note is the lowest frequency being produced, but there are also harmonics being produced. The notes that sound good together are ones that are within the same set of harmonics. I'm not explaining that well, but it's really pretty cool. The teacher is from somewhere in east Asia, but her accent isn't hard to understand. Biotechnology is going to be a great class, though expensive. The teacher really cares about if we're learning and all of that. Unfortunately, the book is around $150 and we also have to get this remote thing and I don't know the price of that yet. The remote is so the teacher can ask the class a question to see if they get the concept or something like that. Kind of like on Who Wants to be a Millionaire when they would poll the audience, but it also registers who gives what answer. ( pictureCollapse )I thought I had more pictures, but it turned out that most of them were video. Oh, and if you want to see Mike his facebook is here. He had just bleached his hair to cosplay at Anime Boston, and in that picture it is only half way through being spiked up. He currently has shorter black hair with bleached tips, which I like a lot better. I will get more pictures soon. Current Mood: happy | | Wednesday, July 26th, 2006 | | 3:05 pm |
Damn my memory
Matricies are evil. I have decided this. They probably wouldn't be so bad if I had used them recently. The current section of my Differential Equations class deals entirely with matricies. I remember not liking them when I learned them before, and promptly forgot most of what I had learned. Bad move. I am trying to remember if they were covered in my Pre-Calculus class, or in ALgebra II. I'm thinking it was Algebra II, which means it was 5 years ago, in 8th grade. Let's just say that I need some major review. I don't even remember how to enter a matrix into my calculator. *Sigh* At least I have all of my old textbooks, starting with Algebra I. I've been listening to The Chronicles of Narnia on CD. I only ever read around half of them, and that was some time ago, so I am quite enjoying them. It is a different style of narration than I am used to. I have grown accustomed to the Harry Potter audio books, where they are not only narrated in their entirety by a single person (Jim Dale is amazing), but they follow the text exactly. The Narnia audio books have been dramatized, with a full cast of voice actors, so that instead of being told everything by the narrator, they put in sound effects. The narrator only speaks periodically, when some great description is necessary, or when there are events that are not described in great detail with dialogue. I rather like it at times, and prefer the other style at other times. At any rate, I have listened to The Magician's Nephew, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Horse and His Boy, Prince Caspian, Voyage of the Dawn Treader and have started The Silver Chair, leaving only The Last Battle left. I had my Mid-Term in Differential Equations on Monday. I didn't think it was very difficult, and was the first to leave. I only hope I didn't make too many of those stupid mistakes, where you have the concept but drop a negative or some such thing. | | Friday, July 14th, 2006 | | 8:59 pm |

A call to arms
By the way, if anyone in the area wants to help with my Gold Award Project, let me know. I'm supposed to show leadership by working with other people. It doesn't take a lot of skill: ironing, cutting with a rotory cutter, and sewing straight lines with a sewing machine. If you already know how to do those, wonderful! If not, we can teach you (We = Mom & myself)! Plus it is a great excuse to see some of you this summer. Please? Current Mood: hopeful | | Monday, July 10th, 2006 | | 11:02 am |

Currious
You scored 73 Heterosexuality, 14 Homosexuality, and 56 Asexuality! |
You are either straight or bisexual (with an interest in the opposite gender) with a moderate to low sex drive. You might even be asexual.
The higher your score in heterosexuality, the more you are attracted to the opposite gender.
A higher asexuality score means that you place a bigger emphasis on the emotional aspects of a relationship and less on the physical. |
|
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 43% on Heterosexuality |
|
You scored higher than 36% on Homosexuality |
|
You scored higher than 93% on Asexuality |
| Ok, how did I get more asexual than Matt? | | Saturday, April 29th, 2006 | | 3:10 pm |
Time Keeps on Slipping Slipping Slipping into the Future
It's funny. Earlier this year I wasn't sure if I really wanted to leave Mercersburg. It's not that I didn't want to graduate and go to college, and I didn't want to stay here forever, but I didn't want to go anywhere else, either. I think a large part of that was from college applications and the stress of having to chose where I want to spend the next four years of my life. Now I have sort of come to terms with leaving. It's kind of like nearing the end of a great book. You love the characters and don't really want it to end, but you know that the story is over. You want to continue reading about what happens next to the characters, but you know that it would just ruin the ending if the book kept going. Evil Nurse
I don't think I've ever taken a disliking to anyone so quickly. It only took a minute, possibly two. It's the nurse on duty this morning. I'm hardly wawke enough to be considered concious and she is already trying to get me out the door and going to classes. Instead of letting my cough slowly build through the day on it own I aggrivated it so I would be able to stay here. I don not want to sign out now only to come back later, because there is now way that I will be able to make it through a whole day. Twice now I have left the health center feeling a little bit better, but the moment I step out the door I try to go full pace again, and I only end up worse again. This time I a going to force myself to rest, unless the nurse kicks me out first. She's all like, "You don't have a temperature, so you have to go to class". Well, I have yet to have a temperature, but that doesn't mean I'm not sick. I can just tell that she is going to pester me all day until I leave. *Gets on bandwagon*
I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you. Feel free to screen your comments- I'll be the only one who can see them- or post anonymously. Just this once. Oh, and I like the picture in ( thisCollapse ) Current Mood: headache | | Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 | | 3:52 pm |
Comunity day today. Seniors only had a presentation from 1:00-3:30 about stuff like date rape, college life, etc. One of the tings that came up is that many sites like Facebook and MySpace state in their terms of service that anything posted on their site is their property. If you post stuff on their site it can not later be sold, and if it is already been copyrighted, they rights to the stuff get transfered to them. So, I checked the Live Journal terms of service found here: http://www.livejournal.com/legal/tos.bmlXIV. JOURNAL CONTENT 1. All Content posted to LiveJournal.com in any way, is the responsibility and property of the author... 3. LiveJournal.com claims no ownership or control over any Content posted by its users. The author retains all patent, trademark, and copyright to all Content posted within available fields, and is responsible for protecting those rights, but is not entitled to the help of the LiveJournal.com staff in protecting such Content. The user posting any Content represents that the poster has all rights necessary to post such Content (and for LiveJournal to serve such Content) without violation of any intellectual property or other rights or any laws or regulations; I guess we got lucky. If you use other sites, you should definiately check out the terms of use. It could be important. Current Mood: relieved | | Sunday, March 19th, 2006 | | 10:25 pm |
this thingy
Reply with your name and: 1. I'll respond with something random about you. 2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you. 3. I'll pick a flavor of jello to wrestle with you in. 4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me. 5. I'll tell you my first memory of you. 6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of. 7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you. 8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal. You MUST. It is written. I didn't really want to go back to my dorm and work, so I was walking with Eric as he went back to his dorm. Eric: I don't want to do anything. Jen, could we just lay here [ford patio] and creat a lot of heat or something? Me: *smirk* (thinks) Do I point out what he just said, or wait for him to figure it out on his own? [pause] Eric: *Cry of anguish as he realizes what he said* I laughed. A lot. Current Mood: loved |
