I think that's just a known thing, it goes away with software rendering right?

By known thing, do you mean this issue? In the original issue, @KostaSaizo7 mentioned the flickering issue has been fixed with "OpenGL Compute shader". I tested in 0.7.0.rc4, with "Compute" renderer, the shadow flickering issue was fixed.

@SapphireRhodonite what is the "Compute" renderer? Can you please elaborate? In 0.7.0.rc3 release notes, it mentioned "The previous Vulkan Compute backend was removed." But in rc4, I can see the "Compute" renderer option, and it fixed the flickering issue. It is confusing. What are the difference between "Vulkan" and "Computer" renderer? Which is the preferred one to use?

Compute is OpenGL but with other rendering pipeline use Vulkan!!!

Tested on WatermelonDS 0.8.0.rc2, with Vulkan renderer, the shadow flickering was gone. And the performance was so much better!

With opengl renderer, the flickering was still there, just FYI.

Yup!, it is only fixed in Vulkan; maybe later I could fix it in OpenGL, but Vulkan is my priority!!
