Hey out there in Internet-land,

I mostly post "friends only" these days, but I still post stuff like fic chapters, giant kitty pictures, etc as public. With a few exceptions, if I haven't had a bunch of interaction with you in Real Life instead of merely online, I probably won't friend you back if you friend me; please don't take offense though, since seriously, I don't really post anything of much interest in those friends-locked posts anyway. You'll mostly be spared my rantings about how I hate whatever costume I'm working on at the moment because it's being evil. ;)

If I have friended you, please note: I have a separate filter which I use to hide all my Asian Ball-Joint Doll ramblings, pictures, etc. Some people think dolls are creepy so I don't push them on people by default; ask specifically to be added to that filter if you'd like to see them. :)

P.S. I have a fanfic journal now for archiving my old work, because I have discovered I suck abjectly at web design so I'm having LJ do all the hard part for me instead of trying to make my own webpage again. :P I'm updating it pretty slowly, but here it is for anyone who is watching for fic purposes! valandria

I promised someone a list a while back, so here it is: The (stupidly long) list of costumes that I either have materials for, or in some cases have actually even started some sewing on them. I swear they can decide to shed in massive amounts on cue whenever they feel like it. It's the only explanation that makes sense.

See, we had professional house-cleaning today for the first time, like, ever. I was using far too many spoons while we were trying to do it all ourselves, and I discovered it was also more affordable than I expected so there was really no reason not to. We closed the cats up (in separate rooms to avoid Moonrise's relatively recent bad temper causing fights) and the cleaners went at it for 2.5 hours, making the living room, kitchen, half-bath and hallway (all I asked them to do, the individual rooms can seriously just stay cluttered for all I care at the moment) look just lovely. They even dusted the living room track lighting on the ceiling, and tops of doorframes, and basically places that probably hadn't been adequately cleaned since before we moved in, thanks to my declining health. But getting back to the cat thing...

So Moonrise, once let out of the laundry room, pretty much goes almost straight to the "dining room" (we don't really have one, it's just kind of the space between the kitchen and living room) and rolls ALLLLLLLL over the glass table, rubbing herself like mad on the edges to scent-mark it as HERS and demanding tummy rubs as she rolls around and purrs and... leaves smears, literally smears of cat fur all over the glass surface. It practically looks completely unscrubbed, except instead of dirt or grease it was just clouds of cat fur that she evidently decided to shed at will all over it. Because scent-marking was not good enough, I guess? Or something? Clearly scrubbing it again will be necessary before eating on it; at least glass is easy to clean, but I have to admit to having a moment of "...Seriously, Moonrise? Seriously?"

Oh well, I'll go ahead ad clean it later. For now, I could really, really do with a nap....

Sorry for my extended absence from everything... the short version is, I got a rather short notice approval for Kumoricon's Arist Alley, which starts in, well, two days. So I've been frantically running patches while also trying to juggle health-related junk. Many many things are basically filed under "after the con" right now, and a decent LJ post is definitely among them. So now I disappear again for a while...

So, this is the beginning to something I've been turning over in my head since I saw Rise of the Guardians for the first time; it's going to be something sort of like a crossover, but not really... it's hard to explain, but it'll make sense in context. I hope. Maybe. :P I stayed up late writing this, so it's probably kind of rough, but what the heck, I just don't feel like just sitting on it at the moment. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum for a while, as I go to start Chapter 1 now that the Prologue is finished...

It's my birthday, and I feel like posting fic. So there! :D

I keep changing the title on this one so it might change again later, who knows. (As always, I suck at titles.) Warnings on this fic in general: Firstly, I'm still going back through the series to try to get my continuity down, because the writers of the show love to toss the plot out in small bits that don't seem relevant until like months later when you've mostly forgotten about them. So I may make fixes later. RD-ish, I suppose. Secondly, it's set after episode 30 so, y'know, GINORMOUS SPOILERS for those who care. Thirdly, always remember that I am an Evil Fanfiction Writer, 'kay? (admittedly I usually put characters back together when I'm done breaking them, though...) And lastly, despite my attempts to (mostly) match canon this is really just a bit AU, since we have already seen what happens after episode 30 anyway and it's not this. Plus, I have no idea if/when the series is going to address the true origins of Buddyroids (among other things in here) but if they do I bet my ideas are wrong. Oh well! :D

I do have the second part of this finished already (barring fixes), for what that's worth, and the third part about 2/3 done, but of course it's turning out longer than I planned (because if I'm going to have a plot, it ALWAYS gets away from me and goes hugely long) so we'll see if I can get it finished in anything like a reasonable timeframe or not. (My bet is, personally, on not. But we'll see!)

So, I finally saw Avengers yesterday, and this kinda happened.

(EDITED INTRO) I had this friendslocked before because I thought it was terrible, but apparently that was the sleep-deprivation talking or something so here it is all public now. Warnings: No plot to speak of, almost entirely gratuitous h/c and friendship-fluff in case that's not your thing, and Tony being a potty-mouth.

So... I'm kinda in the mood to write something, but I don't really know what. My usual method of staring at unfinished fics' last sections hasn't really worked so well, so I figured I'd ask Teh Internets for some prodding that might start moving me in the right direction.

Therefore, here goes: WHAT SHOULD I WORK ON, LJ?

I suppose I should say "anything goes" here, but honestly I do have a preference for some of my stuff that vaguely resembles recent work. So if I just hit my "fic" tag and go backwards I see...

...and then it's like back in 2009, yeesh. Anyway, I also have a few random things started that I could potentially post bits of, including more Gokaiger, some A:TLA, a TenII (or whatever he's commonly called) meeting Eleven Doctor Who fic, and then I have a few ideas I never actually started writing on, such as a Young Justice thing about Miss Martian and a New Thundercats short thing that would have to be completely AU because it actually requires the characters to not be total morons. (I started thinking about it way back after episode 2, then kind of gave it up when canon invalidated it by being too stupid.)

So anyway, yeah. Help me through my writer's block, LJ - I really hate the "wanting to write but not managing to come up with any words" thing! I will post at least a small chunk of whatever gets requested in return, even if it's not a very good chunk. There will be words, I promise!

Yes, this is exactly what it looks like. And yes, it is absolutely and completely ridiculous, not to mention gratuitous. But I'm writing it anyway, just because. I just slapped this together tonight and haven't edited it, and I have no idea if it's going to go any further, but what the heck - I really felt like writing something and for once, I did! Lo, there be words! Huzzah! (Are they good words? Maybe not. Do I care at the moment? Nope!)

Also, Akashi so totally had detailed coaching from Akared on how to prod Marvelous in the right direction. (Because, of course, Akared is most certainly not dead and is just hanging around somewhere or other.)

This week's episode also told me that even if the ultimate power from a given series has already been obtained, that doesn't mean characters from it can't still show up. So there is still hope for Time/Aba/Zyu! DO NOT LET ME DOWN, GOKAIGER.

I also dreamed a Gokaiger dream a few nights ago. I think my brain wanted to make some logical leap as to why Takeru didn't appear in the Shinkenger episodes - not that I'm complaining, I love Kaoru, but since the Gingaman episode proved that each series' individual history still happened in addition to the Legend War, there are two equally powerful and canonical ShinkenReds at the end of the series. So we know where one is, where's the other? My brain apparently loves to explore plot logic. I didn't really remember what happened in said dream enough to do anything with it, but I did come up with a possible idea after the fact. I'm still not sure it's enough to actually do anything with the idea, but I'll poke it with a stick every so often to see if it wants to turn into something I can actually base a fic on.

Anyway, need to sleep soon. Also note that gratuitous icon post is gratuitous...

Meh, just felt like banging this out. Warnings: Unedited so all quality issues are completely my own fault, kind of slashy (sort of...) if that bothers you, very minor spoilers through about episode 18-ish. My phone has become increasingly flaky of late; I plan to replace it next month, but in the meantime it now fails to do things like show or sound notifications, such as for emails or missed calls. If you can't get through to me via phone, try an LJ message or email (I'll have to try and keep up with checking on the laptop instead, since I was really relying on my phone to beep at me when something came through...), and I can provide my home phone number if needed. Apologies for the inconvenience. *sigh*

Okay Gokaiger, I seriously love you and all, but that had BETTER NOT be all we get of Abaranger and Timeranger. Are you honestly going to shortchange not just one but two of the Best Sentai Ever? No Ryouga? No Tatsuya? Not a single main cast member from Timeranger or Zyuranger? REALLY? (The spandex suits don't count.)

I haven't gotten the "must fix it with fanfic" urge in quite a while, but this is seriously tempting me. I'm trying to convince the brain cell to be patient because that was only episode 18... and I have other things I really should be working on right now too. But ARGH.

I have LJ maintenance stuff to do (like adding friends back and rearranging the filters correctly) and I only just realized how far behind even my cosplay.com account is (and my paper portfolio as well) which is usually the one thing I manage to keep relatively up-to-date. But I don't even have Rogue on there, much less Aurora or Terra. Oops.

And I need to not try and convince myself to do something about this, because I already have enough to do and I am still sick and AGH

Just spent ~1.5 hours attempting to clean up a flood of water from the kitchen from a valve breaking off the hot water line that leads into the dishwasher. This also means the hot water had to be cut off to the house to keep it from continuing to spray everywhere, so no hot water until it's fixed. Because the kitchen floor is hardwood, this meant lots of trying to soak up water from the cracks between the boards with paper towels and hoping that it doesn't warp and/or rot the wood.

This has just been a really stellar week, overall. [/sarcasm]

(At least not ALL the water had to be cut off I suppose...)

I'm going to bed. Gah.

Wow, I have been really sick today. Ugh. I better get over this soon. In the meantime, have some fic, Internets. (Author's notes and ramblings about random details in the film at the end, since I rewatched it to check some things today and discovered a few other things I hadn't noticed before...)

So I meant to post this last night but now works too.

OMG YOU GUYS I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS WEEKEND.

Why? Because the next Super Sentai is starting! Now I was really not excited at all about Goseiger (and I never did warm up to it either, through its whole run) but I am SUPER-excited about Goukaiger. And why is that?

1) The theme is pirates.
2) Their pirate ship apparently transforms into the giant robot.
3) The theme is pirates.
4) The crew can apparently transform themselves into any previous spandex sentai suit they wish - check out this picture! And best of all it is apparently not gender-restricted - not only can I see several instances of gender-switched suits in that picture alone (oh look, Zyuranger Yellow really can be a girl now!) but I have seen a clip where the entire team turns into a set of Reds. GEKIRED GIRL YOU GUYS.
5) Did I mention the theme is PIRATES? Red even has a big old pirate pimp coat when he's not in the spandex!

SO. EXCITED. This show had better be made of awesome and win, but just from the little I've seen so far it's already off to a very good start!
