Who are you guys?

We are Harry Potter fans, like you. And possibly like you as well, we have noticed that there aren't many Harry Potter Fanfic communities here on LiveJournal. There are several communities devoted to certain ships, which is wonderful--we frequent those as well, but there don't seem to be any that welcome all fics. So we created Obscurus Books--to get your voices heard and your words "published" to be read by our members.



I'm interested; what do you allow?

Everything. Every ship. Every genre. Yes, we allow slash. All you have to do is adhere to LiveJournal's terms of service.

Note: One such term is that an adult of 18+ years may not have a sexual relationship with another character younger than 18, so please do not post these stories here. Thank you.



Moderation; Suggestions, Comments, and Concerns

[info]toxiccosmos is the moderator for the community. Membership is open and posting will not need approval for the time being, but our mod will be going through them to make sure they adhere to the guidelines. You are responsible for LiveJournal ToS adherence. Please feel free to contact our mod with any suggestions, comments and concerns you may have.

Posting Guidelines

When posting, please follow the following guidelines:

  • Post Title -
    Title should be as follows:


  • Head -
    Add the following to the head of your post:



    You may add more info if you deem it appropriate.
    * - optional
    + - Length refers to one-shot, short story, novel,
           or song-fic. You may also choose to indicate
           whether your story is complete or is a work in
           progress.

  • Images -
    A reasonable sized image may accompany your post. If you would like a suggested size: 278w by 245h but it is entirely up to you. :] It is also suggested that you align it right of the text.

  • Tags -
    Please be sure to use our tags, including a tag for characters, pairings, rating, era, genre, warnings, and length if you wish. If you cannot find a tag to fit your story, feel free to add one that mirrors the structure of the examples already provided.

  • Author Tags -
    We encourage you to add an author tag that can be used each time you post using the following format (including lowercase characters and space before author name):


  • Excerpts -
    After the summary you may include an excerpt. The excerpt should come after a horizontal rule and may only be two paragraphs or up to 300 words in length. After your excerpt, you may add a link to the rest of the story/chapter. If the link is to an offsite source, please indicate so. You may provide alternate links if you wish.

    If you wish, you may post full stories as opposed to linking to another post/site if you follow the excerpt by an lj-cut.

  • Chaptered Stories -
    You may post separate posts or you may post a single post that includes first chapter information (excerpt) and includes links to the following chapters.

    If you are posting separate posts for each chapter, please be sure to include chapter information in the title and in the header.

  • Explicit Content -
    Explicit content is allowed, but please make sure it comes after the cut/link for those who do not wish to read it. Ratings and warnings should adequately inform the reader of any such content.
