Miss Jane Marple looked up from her knitting, her mild blue eyes reflecting a sudden, sharp clarity. “It is very much like old Mrs. Bramble and her prize-winning marrows,” she murmured to the vicar. “She spent all her time showing photographs of them at the village fate, but forgot to water the roots. They withered,…

The Town and Country Planning (Discharge of Local Planning Authority Functions) (England) Regulations 2026 is the legislation that restricts and effectively removes a ward councillor’s power to “call in” routine planning applications to a planning committee. Historically, a councillor could request that a specific planning application be brought before a Planning Committee for a democratic…

How much has the Devolution project cost the nation? Government starts talking about Mayors, we have a few, they want us to have more as it will link in nicely with the 86,000 mayors across Europe. Some councils have gone legal and hence the delay on railroading it through. While council officers jostle for position,…

The best way for candidates to connect with residents in any election is by knocking on the doors and saying hello… The next best way is via social media 48 hours before voting commences and the ballot boxes open. To that end we have a very strong seo website in the form of I Love…

After Cllr Leo Walters sadly passed a few weeks ago, the candidates for the Bray Ward election are:  I’ve always found it frustrating to try and find information on candidates and so creating a space for candidates to respond to residents’ questions on FaceBook makes a great deal of sense. We shot a whole bunch…

Personally I’d love to see some independently minded young person becoming the local councillor for Bray Ward and add their energy to the council mix. It can be tough out there right now for young people, who may have a top degree but are struggling to find that perfect role. Well £9,816 a year for…

When I stood for election in 2019, I really thought I could have an impact on the planning developments in Windsor. I had no idea about the Local Plan, I had no idea that major developers schmoozed councils for 20 years or more before a spade breaks the ground! I did learn: https://engage.rbwm.gov.uk/planning/scoping-consultation So, please,…

INTRODUCTION All Councillors were offered a two-day training course on Carbon Literacy early this year and I took advantage.  Part of the course was a commitment to undertake a project which would reduce carbon footprint.  I decided to do one on increasing bus usage, particularly aimed at car users – not with the intent of…

I heard that a new application had gone in so checked my planning application subscription emails… nothing… that’ll explain why there is only 1 comment from a resident! Review application 26/01600/CONDIT Last year the application was put in, a series of conditions set at the planning meeting. The idea is that if they don’t meet…
