Welcome to Ink Fu, a writing group created with getting published as a core goal. Each month our members will begin a new short story length piece, working a new draft each week and receiving feedback from their fellow writers. What's the point? To get published as many times as possible within a year. The monthly schedule will initially be as follows:
Week 1: New story prompts! Weekly writing challenges! First drafts posted by Wednesday and member feedback posted by Friday.
Week 2: Weekly writing challenges and prompts! Second drafts posted by Wednesday and member feedback posted by Friday.
Week 3: Final draft week! No challenges issued. Prompt/idea postings will continue for those who need that extra bit of inspiration. Members are encouraged to post their pieces throughout the week, and readers to post thoughtful feedback. Member podcast/chat Friday night. (Form and time to be determined.)
Week 4: Submission week. No challenges issued. A new market and its submission info will be posted each day for member consideration and submission.

And now, a Q&A with your moderator, Shakes:
What if I don't get published by September 2009?
I tell you what. If you write a story a month, make every attempt to get and give quality feedback, and research and submit to at least the markets posted by the moderator and members, and you still do not make it into print... I'll give you a crisp ten dollar bill. It's not much, but considering most successful writers are first paid in contributors copies, you just might come out ahead. If you drop out or get booted for not being active, you get the same thing from me that you'll get from publishers. Nothing.
