Wow, I can't believe how feature-rich this port is for 1K! 🤯
The intro music sounds spot on too - really impressive.
I almost lost all my lives getting across once, but then I found my groove and completed a full set (..before getting splatted again on L2) 🙈😅
Great entry 👍

Thanks!

Most of my entries have devoted space to big maps, so a single screen game enabled fleshing out the graphics and sound more. I transcribed the music note by note by ear. I'm not very knowledgeable about music, and I guess that's one of the reasons I've done more tiny projects that aren't expected to have it, but I'm going to work on learning.

Classic, managed to clear a few levels, this was a great build.

I see you had the itch to want to add more sound into 1k as well. I ran into the raw vs \a as well and a long change of events I ended up piecing together a type of melody maker.

I ran your sound thru my piece meal encoder, slowed it down, different wave, and added loop.  as you may already know the ?"⁷0..." loads the \a into SFX and plays.

Thank you. That looks like a neat tool, I'll have to try that out sometime.

Could be 1128 bytes the win track has no main track but that's ok you tried

Yeah, I made the intermission track but there wasn't enough space for it. You can only squeeze things so tight, I guess.

Impressive! You've found room for the music as well 👌

Thanks 🙂

Technically it's only 2 sfx worth of music, with the bassline track alone acting as the intermission theme, but it does make it feel a lot more complete. I tried manually programming the tracks using P8SCII, but just dumping the raw sfx data into string form and poking it in was around the same compressed size, good to know for the future.

Really amazing work on this

Thanks! I've been wanting to add some legitimate sound to a P1K entry, and the single-screen nature of old arcade games like this one meant no big map to eat up space, so there's more room for it. I kinda cheated on the intermission theme, as it's just the bassline for the intro tune. 😉

Wow! It's incredible! A mostly complete version of Frogger, with music and full-color graphics, in just 1024 bytes of compressed code. Excellent work!

Thank you! I made a Frogger prototype for TweetTweetJam a while ago, after realizing it could be basically be simplified to a loop of 14 layers with different size and speed values, but then figured people would enjoy it a lot more with some extra detail and polish.
