My Take on the Joe Loeffler of Chevelle being fired situation:
Chevelle is Still Chevelle they're just missing a member. All bands do this.
I knew it was going to happen a good year or so in advance, so I'm not heart broken. No one should be, Bands do this...especially when they get older and realize they want more freedom.
I really can't believe everyone is sooo worked up over it, It's not like it's your family, it's a band. Remember them as they were, not as they are now.
You can all find another band to obsess over.
=)

A time out
Chevelle has announced on its website that bassist Joe Loeffler will not be touring with the band this summer. A posting from Loeffler's brothers, singer/guitarist Pete Loeffler and drummer Sam Loeffler, reads, "After three years of non-stop touring and recording, Joe is taking a break to be home with family. We'll miss having him on the road with us, but as his brothers and bandmates we respect his decision and are looking forward to getting out there and playing for the fans. See you on tour."
As far back as last December, Joe Loeffler told The Zone that he was weary of being on the road: "I'm just tired. I wanna go home. Got a nice house there waiting with a jacuzzi. Just want to go for a drive, you know, in my own car, and instead I'm traveling every single day. What a career. What a life to have."
Former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo will be filling in on bass for Chevelle's summer dates. Joe Loeffler's departure is not expected to be permanent.
Chevelle's tour will kick off on July 9th in Indianapolis, Indiana, and wrap up on August 21st in Tucson, Arizona. Most of the dates will also feature Taproot and 30 Seconds To Mars, although Chevelle will open for Velvet Revolver at a handful of shows.

This was a post made on the MB by Joe.
First off, very typical. This is exactly what I expected from them. Try and make it look like I didn't want to be in the band. I was fired plain and simple; in fact there wasn't even a discussion about it they just dropped it on me. I told them I would never quit and they would have to fire me. They were trying to get me to quit and told my managers that I did. I called sam and said "why are you doing this?" and he said we don't want you to come back. I said I will not quit. The next day pete called for the first time and said "did (our managers) call you and tell you your out?" I said "no, were they supposed to?" he eventually said in that short conversation "your fired". I am insulted by the message on the front page of the site,(by the way, thats the first change to the site I've seen in at least a year!) it is completely false and out of line. I made no decision and am not taking a break. I will be working on getting a new job immediately. A break also means there's a chance to come back, and nothing could be farther from reality. I was fired and they have not said a word to me since. I would never ask to be back in (why would I want to after this?) and I never did in the past when I quit. "We'll miss having him on the road with us"... Right.
