Are there any volunteer opportunities involving animals in Kingston? While I was in Peterborough I volunteered at the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre, where I fed turtles and cleaned tanks, and I would like to do something similar here. Also, are there any (preferably cheap) horseback riding lessons being offered within biking distance of Kingston? |

| I'm coming into town and staying around the Princess and Montreal St area for the next two weekends and need some place to park my car. I know I won't be able to keep it for three days straight on Princess St and a lot of the lots are limited to 24 hours and charge $1.00/hr. Does anyone know of any side streets around the area that have free parking (or cheaper parking - ideally I don't want to have to pay more $50+ per weekend for parking), or does anyone have a spot at their house/apt within walking distance that I can use/rent for 6 days (May 21-23 and May 28-30)? | ||||||

Anime Fans, It's time for our most anticipated showing of the year: The CARDBOARD MECHA / ELECTIONS EXTRAVAGANZA! This Friday only, from 7pm to midnight in BioSci 1102, you too can participate in the democratic election of next years executive. Also, turn your friends into giant cardboard-based fighting robots! For those unfamiliar, cardboard mecha is our yearly event where you get into teams of 3-5 and use cardboard and duct tape to turn one of your group members into a mecha robot. We'll provide cardboard, exacto knives, and duct tape; and you are welcome to bring any other materials you desire (paint, scissors, etc.) Mecha will then face off using their elite short presentation/skit skills. The audience votes to determine this year's galactic cardboard mecha champion. And right afterward, you will have the opportunity to run for and vote on the new executive for Queen's Anime Club 2010-2011. Any club member can run for any position with the exception of President and Treasurer which must be returning Queen's students as per AMS policy. Positions available would be listed on our website (if the AMS finally got around to hosting it), so instead you'll have to settle for the brief summary below: President: Deals with the AMS, keeps the club running and on track, books rooms, in charge of everything. Vice-President: Finds Anime for showings, takes over when other exec are absent, assists president. Treasurer: Keeps financial records, handles food and drink sales, manages club budget. Secretary: Emails general membership, keeps minutes, organizes club records. Public Relations: Promotes events to the public, increase membership. Services Director: Acquisition and storage of food and drink, recommended that you own or are good friends with someone who owns a car. We're looking forward to seeing some new faces join our executive team. In between all of this voting and building, we still have a great selection of Mecha shows lined up: Rideback Gasaraki Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz See you this Friday |

"While hundreds of ruby-lights appear mysteriously on an abandoned island mid-night, researchers inside the sinister Radio Laboratory intercept a strange transmission on their bat-sonar translating Transmogrifier. The transmission source cannot be traced to any place on earth…” This Wednesday CFRC members will lead an audience through a mysterious alien take-over adventure LIVE, alongside a cacophonous laboratory of sound, and musicians on accordion, electric guitar, and theremin. This radio play is a CFRC production and original creation made from scratch: conceived, created and inspired by station volunteers. It would be a great pleasure to share it with you, your friends, your friends' friends: Come one, come all! (Please note there might be one or two 'ear-muff' moments for younger audience members, as the script does contain a few lightly potty-mouthed words...) Admission will be by donation, and all proceeds will go towards the CFRC funding drive (keeping our community radio station in happy, fleshy-pink health) If you can't attend, please tune in, as we will be broadcasting it live on 101.9fm in Kingston and at www.cfrc.ca. Wednesday FEB 10th, Wallace Hall in the JDUC on Queen's campus, doors open at 7:30pm, we go live to air at 8pm. |

Does anyone know where I can get replacement roller blade parts in Kingston - specifically an axle for a wheel. I've tried the Downtown Kingston Sports store on Princess, the Canadian tire at Sir John A, and on Division by the Highway, and Cyclepath. Any other suggestions? |
