Anvil! The Story of Anvil! is coming to Edwards University Town Center 6 in Irvine this weekend. For those of you who don't know, Anvil! The Story of Anvil has been called the real life This Is Spinal Tap. My friends saw it in NYC and said it was the best thing ever.
Born n raised in the Bronx to Jamaican parents Damion Kyng moved all around the BX (webster, tremont, kingsbrigde...) in and out of various hustles doin his best to help with bills in the house; been writing screenplays, short scripts (high ranking on AMERICAN ZOETROPE), poems n rhymes since thirteen. People round da way who didn't like da flo of hip hop asked Kyng to hop on da mic bout a year ago, his style is uncomparable but if there had to be a comparision many would say OUTKAST (only in that you can always expect something different n entertainin) now he has EIGHT tracks on da SOUNCLICK charts, has music being played on internet radio stations n mixtapes (unsigned hype volume 4 by DJ DESTINY/twisted studios)... reppin da underground MC who will make it based on skillz as opposed to PURCHASED HYPE - expect big things to come...

i head up the sony street team in LA and we are currently recruiting for new teamers. we work with artists on epic and columbia records as well as smaller labels like militia group, red ink, etc. if you are interested, please sign up by clicking on the banner:
if you'd like to be more involved by promoting at shows, setting up shows for our bands, working with the label and attending events (i.e. listening events, meet n greets), then head over to myspace.com/sstxo_la and send me a message on there about our offline team. on our profile you can also see some of the artists we're working with, and get a better idea of what we do.
for the offline team (the one i run), we're looking for people that go to a lot of shows in the LA/hollywood area and, of course, love music. this is not your typical street team where we make you do tons of shit for nothing. we really do hook our street teamers up. because of that, we try to maintain a pretty exclusive offline team (at least in LA). it's hard to spoil 100 music lovers, but it's easy to see the work that is being done by 10-15 kids and really give them stuff that they want.
back in the day there used to be a rad southern california show collective site called Socal In Flight, which listed every show happening everywhere in socal. then it died!!! but now there is a different site ::: www.socallist.com
bands y'all should post your stuff there and people should check it if you're looking for something to do!
