Before you do anything else, be aware that the following discussion is about the Philotic Theory, Philotes, Philotic Twines (or Rays), and much more. If you are not familiar with Philotes then I STRONGLY URGE you to visit the following 2 links and read through them (won't take you very long) to help you understand what this long discussion is all about.
Link One, The wikipedia on Philotes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philotics
Link Two, A short discussion on Philotes: http://shadowdancepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9
Pleaes note that I'm not a witch or wiccan, I'm not a religious fanatic, I'm not anything other than just a guy who likes deep philosophy once in a while. I don't truly believe in Philotes, even after the following discussion. I'm a skeptic of pretty much everything, but that also means I'll entertain the idea behind basically any philosphy that someone truly believes in or is willing to defend.
This discussion is about 18 pages long if you put it into MS Word, but hopefully this will help get the wheels turning in the minds of those who are intrigued about the Philotic Theory or more importantly, the possible explanation for the existance of everything from God to Man to Plant to Animal. Personally I'm not a fan of religious debate or even political debate, but I feel that this discussin contains much more than simple banter between to rivals, but instead entertains a deeper meaning behind much of what our lives are based around.
So, without more delay, I offer you the discussion:
Session Start (Scott:Jen): Fri Sep 22 23:27:58 2006 [23:28] Scott: passed out yet? [23:29] Jen: Not a chance! You are the Mr. Man person from craigslist? [23:29] Scott: mr is too formal, just call me Scott like my friends do [23:30] Jen: Nice to meet you Scott. I'm Jen, as you can tell. *curtsey* [23:30] Jen: :) [23:30] Scott: nice to meet your online persona, Jen [23:31] Jen: Oh, I'm preety much the same, in whatever medium. *grins* [23:31] Jen: So you seem to have some interesting things swirling around in your brainium. I first wondered what had happened, when I saw your post. [23:31] Scott: happened to me? [23:32] Jen: Yea, what happened to spark such thoughts, and to prod you to make such apost [23:33] Scott: If I knew the truth to that answer then I probably wouldn't be seeking out others to discuss such a topic with. It's kind of a vicious circle, isn't it? [23:34] Scott: I'e been reading books by Orson Scott Card, the author of Ender's Game and the rest of the series leading up to Children of the Mind which I am currently reading [23:34] Jen: *grins* I dunno. Oh, I love Orson Scott Card. My favorite by him is the Cinderella Story, the title of which I've forgotten in the Sea of a Million Books that is my memory. [23:35] Jen: He's got some very interesting ideas, or at least fictional ones, about the Universe, Life and Everything. [23:35] Scott: 42 answers that statement. [23:35] Scott: ;) [23:36] Jen: *grins* [23:36] Scott: This may be a bit soon to mention, but the reason I mentioned witchcraft is that is the type of 'forum' I came across while searching for others who have discussed Philotes and Philotic Twining [23:38] Jen: I'm actually not all that familiar with the terminology of Philotes... I'm 80% homespun 10% shamanisitcly taught and 10% Euopean/formal wicca, and it just hasn't come up. From context clues I know what it is though, under a million different terms and symbols. [23:38] Scott: It was the context of the 'what experience brought you to the witchcraft' postings that lead me to believe that a lot of the power they claim to have could be explained through the idea of philotes [23:39] Scott: Or the existance of.. [23:40] Jen: Could you explain it to me-- your version of it, anyway, cuz now I just have to research it too. [23:40] Jen: *wags* [23:42] Scott: I'll give you a couple of things to read real quick if you have the ambition. the wikipedia of Philotes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philotics and the original post on the Shadowdance forums that I found, (Link: http://shadowdancepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9)http://shadowdancepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9 [23:43] Jen: Oh :) That fits. [23:44] Jen: So looking up philotics, you found Wiccan things. Thats kind of interesting too. What I think is interesting is why a Wiccan would try to explain something so ... unending. [23:45] Scott: I'm not at all familiar with Wiccan belief [23:47] Jen: Well.. There are two aspects, there is the God and Goddess aspect (which is pretty essential to being Wiccan) and then there is the magick aspect. Magick is energy work and the work of the soul, which would fit pretty well with the whole philotic thing. [23:48] Scott: That must have been the connection I made too, between Philotes and Wiccan [23:49] Jen: There are even a hundred ways to practice magick. Some say no need to believe in a God or Goddess at all, some say the energy comes from them, or nature... [23:50] Scott: The soul being the 'aiuas', or at least that's the word Card used in his books [23:51] Scott: I hate to say "i think of it this way or that way' because it doesn't matter what I think, it is what it is, if it exists at all. But perhaps it's the way we choose to think of it that allows us to concentrate enough to make it useful to us. [23:52] Scott: And I'm speaking specifically about the philotic twines....if they exist. heh [23:53] Jen: What it kinda seems like to me is molecules and atoms, only related specifically to something other than mass and matter. a yin and a yang sort of thing. In the books, do they have agendas? [23:55] Scott: The philotic rays or 'twines' only have the agenda to take the shape or form or to 'complete/fill' something, BUT this can only occur if someone thinks hard enough to give the rays something to fill [23:56] Scott: so you keep in your mind the complete image of something and if you take that 'outside' of space where all the philotes are hanging out, then the appropriate philote will insert itself into the complete image you are able to contain in your mind, making it 'real'...or as 'real' as we perceive real to be. [23:57] Jen: would that be spifftastic or what? I should try that sometime, with my supreme muckety muck magick powers. (being facision here, but only towards myself) [23:57] Scott: If only it were that easy [23:57] Scott: ;) [23:58] Scott: the question is, Is it that easy? Because it just might be, only we are so lead on by our lives that we forget that in order to BE yourself and understand things that are not suppose to be understood, we must completely disregard other people's impressions on us and trust only our own. That is my own philosophy, btw. [00:00] Jen: *grins* Its a good philosophy, and now we're hedging more into Buddhism. Buddhists believe that if you constantly 'try' that there is no belief. You simply ARE. If you want to be different or better or... full, even, you just tell yourself it is so, and once you're ready to see it, it will be so. :) Neat huh? [00:00] Scott: i'll be a couple minutes. just got a phone call [00:01] Jen: Take yer time! [00:21] Scott: just to keep you hanging on edge, i'm still here, but still on the phone..heh [00:21] Jen: Waiting with bated breath (actually entertaining myself with goofy games and whatnot) Don't worry bout me! [00:22] Scott: not worried, i just want you to stay for my own personal discussion box for when i get back [00:22] Jen: Muhahaha. You got it. *curls up* [00:34] Scott: ok, my attention is here again [00:34] Jen: Welcome back. *smile* [00:35] Scott: i've never explored buddhism either, but it sounds a lot like how I generalize my philosphy on life [00:35] Jen: karma, live well, help others, help yourself, treat yourself well... not a bad way to go. [00:36] Scott: our parents teach us that from a young age, treat others the way you wish to be treated. [00:36] Scott: i am very sure i cannot and will not give myself to a specific religion or at least I won't associate myself truly with a certain religion. [00:37] Jen: In all honesty, religion is not, and will never be whats important [00:37] Scott: On that same topic, I do believe there is a God, but I can't believe that any one group of people has all the answers to all the questions, especially when so many groups claim to know so much [00:37] Jen: And just for my own curiousity, whats your sign? [00:37] Jen: *grins* [00:37] Scott: What do you think my sign is? [00:37] Jen: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm [00:38] Jen: Aries? [00:38] Scott: why do you think that? [00:38] Jen: I know a lot of them, and sometimes I seem to sniff them out, even when I don't want too. [00:38] Jen: *grins* [00:38] Scott: what do you want my sign to be? [00:39] Scott: or better phrased, what do you wish it was? [00:39] Jen: lol ! Don't have a preferance truely, although I really hope not Sag, and I would like to know more Pisces [00:39] Scott: I'm a Taurus [00:40] Jen: !!! [00:40] Jen: dangit [00:40] Jen: I shoulsa guessed [00:40] Jen: I loves Tauruses [00:40] Scott: but you didn't. ;) [00:40] Jen: *pets the bull* [00:40] Scott: hey, lay off the sexual inuendos [00:41] Jen: >.< [00:41] Jen: that wasnt sexual! [00:41] Jen: *hides* [00:41] Scott: it's in our most basic instincts, everything can be sexual [00:42] Jen: Yea I know. However. I'm a fairly animal like person, and I pet and scritch and lick and stuff, to show general friendliness and stuff. Online. Heh. In real life I have to know you a bit before I'll bite you to say hello. [00:42] Scott: instinct to reproduce, it's just the language that gives us an avenue to form expression around the instinct. [00:43] Jen: Iffin it makes you feel any better, I don't want to bone you, or anyone else from internet land. Kay? *wags* [00:43] Scott: wouldn't that be interesting, if everyone 'bit' instead of shook hands. [00:43] Scott: no no, i assure you I am here strictly for my interest in the philotic theory [00:43] Scott: but since philotes are a part of everything, we can talk about anything and make it relate [00:43] Scott: if they exist [00:44] Jen: *grins* yes, sex and magick and spiritual philosophy are very closely entwined. Doesn't take much to find the connections, and yes I think life would be very much more interesting if we could all just be like puppies once in a while. But I'm nutters so what do I know. [00:45] Scott: you're nutters only because if you didn't something outside the common 'norm' you would be perceived as nutters by those who have no way of entertaining the idea that they have control over themselves and they should pay attention to themselves and not the common 'norm' [00:46] Jen: *beams* Thank the gods someone gets it [00:46] Scott: I suppose philotes only exist as twines or rays when they are inside space. they cannot simply be a philote when inside space, they must be twined with other philotes as everything is twined with everything else in some elaborate fashion. outside of space there can only be untwined philotes waiting to fill a pure form [00:47] Scott: didn't should have been 'did' heh...in the talk of common norms [00:48] Scott: perhaps all religions are based on their God that had the ability, perhaps temporarily, to see the philotic twines and understand them. maybe they did for a moment, maybe they did for their whole lives [00:49] Jen: Equated to actuall things in nature, what quantifies a philotic thread? I'm asking for a 'for example' here [00:49] Scott: so, perhaps Jesus (in christian faith, obviously) wasn't a miracle worker, only he was able to understand and control the philotic twines surrounding his own aiua, and the real God is one who lives within the philotic twines that encompass everything and everyone. He simply is able to be a part of everything [00:50] Scott: it's the bond between two people or two objects that isn't physical. Love is a great example [00:50] Scott: which would explain why husbands have sympathy labor pains for instance [00:51] Scott: they are so intertwined with they spouses that a part of the spouse exists in their aiua [00:51] Jen: Okay that makes a lot more sense to me now [00:51] Scott: and perhaps vice-versa [00:51] Jen: And really a person can do that with anyone [00:51] Jen: if the two are open and one knows what one is doing [00:52] Scott: you don't even have to know what you are doing or that you are doing it, as long as you are actually doing it [00:52] Jen: i guess thats true [00:53] Scott: ever got a phone call from someone you were thinking about very distinctly at that same moment? or called someone and have them say 'i was just thinking about you' ? [00:53] Scott: i think most people don't even question the possibility of a reason behind the connection [00:53] Jen: Welp. I'm pretty psychic so it happens. [00:54] Scott: i think deep down, most people are afraid that there IS an explanation [00:55] Jen: I think its a lot simpler than people make it out to be. I mean, we only use 10% of our brains after all. What the hell do they think the other 90% is doing all damn day? [00:55] Jen: lol [00:56] Scott: so much can be explained if we accepted the belief in Philotes [00:56] Scott: but i guess that doesn't mean there isn't another explanation either [00:59] Jen: There are dozens. My personal truth is so unique that I can't even explain it to my mate. His is the same for him. I think that if you believe in philotes.. you will find that it works for you. [01:00] Scott: That's exactly what is mentioned in Card's books. The characters don't have a real answer, so they rationalize and create one that would work, which leads them to prove themselves correct. [01:01] Jen: I bet if they each came up with a different answer, they would ALL be proven correct [01:02] Scott: in that shadowdane forum, the topic I gave you a link for, I posted something under the name "Landshark" it was a great explanation of what I was feeling and working over in my head at the height of my emotional connection with the idea that philotes are real. [01:02] Scott: i wish i could have written more, but i didn't know how [01:04] Jen: At the end of our big rituals, we witchy types sometimes say "Let the Gods preserve the Craft and let the Craft preserve the Gods" I think thats very much true... the things that make the universe wouldn't exsist if we didn't form them with our thoughts and our will and imagination... [01:05] Jen: Ever read American Gods? [01:05] Scott: never read it [01:05] Scott: but it makes sense, up to a point. [01:05] Scott: there's something else about the 'inside space' that we currently exist in. there has to be a start point where nothing inside space existed and only philotes existed in outside space [01:06] Jen: so that leads to defining space, and all that good junk too [01:06] Scott: so what came first, the philote or the object that it became in inside space? [01:07] Scott: since philotes are not intelligent themselves only some are more powerful than others, able to enter into more complex forms than others, so who created the first form for a philote to enter into? [01:08] Scott: or was there no beginning to inside space, maybe it has always existed [01:08] Scott: if there is a beginning then that proves that God exists in some form, the original creator...the one who created...him or herself I guess, since you have to 'be' in order to create. [01:09] Scott: but if there is no beginning to inside space, then there is a constant continuum or existance [01:10] Scott: or another plausable theory...we are not the only universe. God, or who we call God, existed from another universe and believed strong enough to hold either an entire universe in his/her head of at least the beginning of one that a philote outside space took the first form inside this new space [01:12] Jen: The one that really blows my mind is that the universe itself is infinite, and not just is everything on earth, or in the galaxy or space as we know it connected, but those 'other realms' are all connected too, and it *is* all an unending continuum [01:13] Scott: perhaps the only truth is that philotes have always existed and that in order for philotes to exist there has to be an intelligence that is contained in all of them. Thus, God would have always been and will always be and he/she/it has created universe after universe simply by thinking about it and having the most complex philotes take the form. [01:14] Scott: well shit, how can I ever trust myself around any religion ever again. i've damned myself, or liberated myself. i'm not sure. but again, only if philotes exist [01:16] Jen: *laughs* No, it doesn't rely on the philotes, because really a 'philote' can be... whatever you want it to be! It can be energy, or psychic vibrations, or spirits, or faeries... or.. God? Indeed. [01:17] Jen: If you felt silly for talking to God yesterday, and today you don't because you thinbk the philotes might fill the empty shape your wish and thought has created, then thats perfect. Thats all that needs be. Ya know? [01:18] Scott: if there's someone who lives in all the philotic twines then that person is intelligent and could be perceived as God. God is only a title [01:18] Scott: that's like calling someone Captain or General [01:18] Scott: Or..maybe God is the name of an entirely different species [01:19] Jen: *grins* I've always liked SG-1's thing about the Norse and Egyptians all scaring the piss out of the ancient people, and really they were aliena [01:23] Scott: why should any single unusual act be explained seperately from all the rest? for instance, why is moving an object with your mind called telekenesis and reading someone's thoughts called being psychic? if everyone is connected through philotic twines and the bond can grow much stronger if you know how to concentrate on the bond, then perhaps all of those 'sureal' type of activites are just a result of philotic twining? [01:23] Scott: i should be able to move a bottle on my desk if I believe it enough and take it's whole and true form into my mind [01:24] Jen: Well, just from my own experience with things like that, I know that some people do it *better* than others, but that everyone has the capacity, so would that just be stronger philotes? [01:26] Scott: everyone contains an aiua inside them, their soul which is directly connected to the philotic web. I'm not sure, but only certain Philotes that are complex enough can fill a human body and become their Aiua, so it would be assumed that everyone's aiua contains a philote of exact same complexity as all other humans [01:27] Scott: i don't know or understand how what it takes to concentrate on your own philote twine to make any use of it [01:27] Scott: but some people must have the knowledge or at least part of it, and yes it would mean everyone has the capacity [01:30] Jen: So how did the characters in the book find proof of the philotes? (I knew I should have read the series when my sexy Bulgarian friend begged me too) [01:30] Scott: that's the interesting part, and you ask the question I was just wanting to answer [01:31] Scott: they discover instantaneous communication [01:31] Scott: but they don't understand it... hold on i need to read something real quick to refresh my memory [01:32] Jen: kay [01:35] Scott: in the book humans have things called Ansibles, basically the communication device used to send instant messages to and from other ansibles. The book explanation is this: if you divide a particle in two while it's suspended in a field and then you move those two pieces apart they still vibrate as if they were one particle, because of the twined philotes that connect them. So, if you take one half and put it in the earthside ansible and put the other half in an ansible at the other end, whatever you do in the earthside ansible is instantly reflected in the other ansible since the partiles vibrate as one. [01:37] Scott: in the book they don't know why ansible communication works exactly, they don't know about philotes, they only know that ansible communication DOES work. They eventually find out about the philotes from both inside and outside space, because another species uses the philotic web to invite philotes from outside space to embed themselves into new 'workers' or bodies of their species and also their 'queens' or intelligent/control beings of that species. [01:38] Scott: also, they are able to communicate with a 'being' that lives within the philotic rays that connect every single communicatin device, i.e. computers [01:40] Scott: which later they discover this being among the philotic rays actually started in Ender, the main character, as a result of this other species trying to draw his aiua under their philotic control. because of his history and work with computers (Read "Ender's Game") he created "Jane" (the being within the technological philotic rays), thus she existed in both Ender and also the computer philotic rays [01:40] Scott: this is confusing and hard to explain, the creation of "Jane" [01:41] Scott: it's almost like she always existed, but didn't realize she existed until Ender needed her to exist. At [01:41] Jen: no, I get it [01:42] Scott: and Ender couldn't be controlled by this other species that somewhat understood philotic webs, because he was so intertwined with all of these computers and people, he couldn't be 'found' in the philotic web [01:42] Scott: and they can't control Jane, because she exists everywhere and originates in Ender [01:43] Scott: it's all very fascinating to me [01:44] Scott: so basically, the find out about philotes, because their technology allowed them to harness the power, even though they didn't know what they had done. [01:44] Scott: and they try to find a rational explanation, which is where they come up with philotes, and the inside/outside space [01:45] Jen: Ahhh, okay. I get it. Its cool that the computer connection plays into the whole thing. I have odd theories on that [01:45] Scott: if you are bored with this topic for now go right ahead and change it. heh [01:46] Jen: No, I just thought it was interesting and thus mentioned [01:46] Jen: hehe [01:47] Scott: i'm kind of afraid to discuss some things in my life that are otherwise unexplainable. [01:47] Scott: which might be why I've found the idea of philotes so interesting [01:47] Jen: Well now that has me curious. [01:48] Scott: have you ever wondered if you have the power to forsee something very soon in your future? give yourself a warning and allow yourself to listen to it? [01:48] Scott: ever wondered if maybe that power was really lended to you by someone who is 'watching over you'? [01:48] Scott: or that there's another explanation. too many ways to rationalize the experience I guess [01:49] Jen: You're talking toa witch. I have specific experiences with all of those things and don't find them abnormal. [01:49] Scott: there's 2 that I'd like to believe, but I'm afraid to discuss it, because I fear that ability of shared ability of mine might go away. or maybe it's the fear i will have that will cause me to lose focus or trust in it [01:50] Jen: Ok, well don't do anything you're thinking might undermine your exploration, but I hope you do believe a.) you're not crazy and b.) you can train it and make it stronger, and c.) I don't think you'll lose it unless you close yourself to it. [01:51] Scott: See, I have tons and tons of faith in myself, I'm too open-minded to discredit anything otherwise see as completely irreational. I do try to rationalize some things, sure, but I think that's because I'm not ready to explore them [01:51] Scott: This thing I AM ready to explore, I love the experiences [01:52] Scott: one thing I have recently closed myself off from is black magic, specifically a type of voodoo practiced in Indonesia [01:52] Jen: bleh *twitch* [01:52] Jen: Good call ole chap [01:52] Scott: because of a conversation with a close friend of mine from there. [01:53] Scott: anyway, i had one of these experiences tonight, one that I didn't listen to. Which at first had me thinking about the fear again, what would happen if I didn't listen to it? would it go away? No, because I still had the experience and even though I didn't listen to it, it still happened and was proven. [01:54] Scott: But then, if I had listened to it I wouldn't have been able to see the proof of this particular experience. [01:54] Jen: *grins* But um, just from experience, they do fade, if you don't listen. (IMO anyway) [01:54] Scott: i suppose I can tell you, but you'd be the first person I have ever even mentioned this to. If you think you would like to handle that [01:55] Jen: *grins* I think I would be honored. [01:55] Scott: good ok then [01:57] Scott: it's really very simple, almost like an omen (the good equivelant i guess). Tonight I was planning on riding (my motorcycle) to a bookstore to do some reading/research on some other topic. I have two routes to get there from my home, one of which is the way I always go and what should have been the quickest and easiest route. The other would have been all side-streets, slow, many opportunities for being in an accident (I think about those things when riding my motorcycle). [01:58] Scott: anyway, I had a desire (no better word to describe it) that grew in me to take the longer and more 'unsafe' route. I didn't know why I had this desire, considering the other route was quicker and perceivably safer, but I at least paid enough attention to it that it kept growing [01:59] Scott: but in the end I took the quicker route, ignoring my 'desire' to take the longer one......and turns out, there was an accident in a very peculiar spot on this quicker route, traffic was also stopped for over a mile (mind you this is 9pm tonight, friday on a freeway). [01:59] Scott: If i had followed the desire I would have missed the entire traffic scenario [01:59] Jen: wow. Thats pretty shivery [02:00] Scott: and possible dangers that come with being in stop and go traffic on a motorcycle...being i was in a blind corner tunnel, stopped, with no one behind me hoping that no cars would come around the corner and rear-end me [02:00] Scott: it was right then that I realized the 'desire' was that 'thing' that I haven't been able to explain to anyone [02:00] Scott: keeping me out of harms way [02:01] Scott: i know these types of things are hard to believe from someone who didn't experience it themselves, because there really is no proof [02:01] Scott: this has happened before, another time while on my motorcycle on the same freeway (very close to the area in question from tonight, actually) [02:01] Jen: Not hard to believe. Just the simple fact that *millions* of people have had experiences like that states *something* right? [02:04] *** Your previous message has not been sent. Reason: Maximum length (800) exceeded. You can recall the last message typed with Ctrl-Up or Up, depending on settings. [02:05] Scott: the previous time was when I was riding in the carpool lane, going home like I always do in moderate traffic (not all my experiences are with the motorcycle or on a road). I was going about 65, in the carpool lane, when I had a very strong thought...or urge/desire to move to the inside of my lane. I almost had a vision of something coming at me from the left, like a shadow or something that startled me enough to notice, but not enough for me to panic. [02:05] Scott: sure enough, not 10 seconds later did a truck from the opposite side of the freeway decide to do a u-turn just as I passed by that u-turn spot (the place cops usually sit). I don't know if my moving to the inside allowed him to spot me and not pull in front of me, or perhaps he was never going to hit me, but if I hadn't been alerted of that shadow he would have startled me and caused me to do something dangerous and crash. [02:05] Scott: had to split that up, was too long for one message, lol [02:05] Jen: *grins* [02:06] Jen: And I think a reason for why they *do* happen on the road a lot is because of how aware and focused you have to be, especially riding a motorcycle. [02:06] Scott: exactly the comment that would prove philotic rays as plausible [02:07] Scott: however, my other rationale is that there is a spirit or perhaps multiple spirits (I would only hope they are my deceased relatives, or someone who I've known in the past) that are somehow watching over me, or sharing a power with me so that I can use it to my advantage without me understand how I used it [02:08] Scott: but then, philotic rays would explain that too, and perhaps a persons aiua exists after the body is dead [02:09] Scott: and heaven is really only being able to be a part of the entier philotic web, but only being able to imitate the real God using the love that living humans have had with this new 'spirit' and their aiua [02:10] Jen: Thats a very buddhist and witchy belief you know *grins* That the greatest acsention would be to be part of the energy that creates [02:11] Scott: so once you are dead you can only affect those that are twined with you, those that love you or have loved you, or that you or them are a big part of who the spirit is. [02:11] Scott: so, all religions are true, because they believe in their own religions, they twine themselves with this God species (possibly just one being in that species) and give him/her power to affect their lives [02:12] Scott: the only people I can think of that don't believe in relgion are those who claim to be agnostic and those who are too young to comprehend any common type of religion (i.e. infants) [02:13] Jen: agnostic is cool though, it's the athiests that piss me off. [02:13] Jen: But really, I can say with all honesty that I don't believe in religion. [02:13] Scott: or maybe it's more than that, maybe the parents of the infants believe so much in a higher being that their love for their child contains part of their twine with the philotic web, thuse providing that twine between the baby and the phiotoc web [02:14] Scott: yeah agnostic, atheist, i use the tem loosely to describe those that claim to not believe in any kind of higher being of any type, period. [02:15] Jen: they're two different species [02:15] Scott: but you see, maybe it doesn't matter what they believe, because when they were created they were twined with people who did believe and that is part of their aiua [02:15] Scott: ok, upon further reading, the 'aiua' is a term used to describe the philote outside of space that is complex enough to become someone's soul. [02:16] Scott: i guess that's how i'e been using the term though [02:17] Scott: i know i should look up the definition of agnostic and athiest. that's me being lazy and generalizing [02:18] Jen: agnostic is "I believe in a higher power, but have no idea what it is" and athiest is no higher power at all [02:19] Scott: ok, so athiest is what i meant to refer to, meaning that i am technically fitting into the agnostic category...and apparently also buddhism [02:19] Jen: *grins* It's cool not to fit. You can just kind of wander and experience anything you want. [02:22] Scott: thinking about it more, the philotic theory does not disprove any religion at all, in fact it promotes it to be as true as ever. Perhaps every religion that is based around a single being, a single moment in history (such as jesus christ and his life) is simply describing the one experience that happened to prove the philotic theory true. So, jesus, in some way, discovered the philotic twines and it was scene as an act of God, which would be true. and any other religion that has a 'bible' or something written down that has a starting point, is simply the story of the (most likely) accidental discovery of the philotic twines [02:22] Scott: forgive my spelling, it's late and i know it's getting worse. heh [02:22] Jen: It's okay :) [02:24] Scott: and with no other explanation these people create a 'religion' about these experiences, but rather than entertaining the idea of philotic theory, they congratulate the person or animal or object that discovered the philotic twines [02:24] Scott: as being the powerful one [02:24] Scott: the god [02:25] Scott: they worship these idols, but they should be worshipping themselves. [02:26] Jen: And that, my dear, is the sign of a really great writer. It kind of reminds me of the Dark Tower series too. [02:27] Scott: you are exactly what I needed tonight. someone to listen (or at least pretend to..haha) to all these freaking thoughts in my head that I have [02:27] Jen: I'm not pretending, I like to listen. It's fun, and it helps me in a way too. And like I said. I loves Taurus'es [02:27] Jen: hehe [02:28] Scott: the reason i chose craigslist is because of the ability to be anonymous about it. I'm pretty sure my friends would think I'm crazy if I was to start up this conversation with them [02:28] Jen: *grins* Yea. I know the feeling. [02:28] Scott: well actually, they already think I'm crazy. I guess I would just be helping their theory of me [02:29] Jen: Well, to rationalize with myself, I've come to the conclusion that even the most "normal" person out there has odd thoughts that they think other people would think them crazy for. [02:29] Jen: The world would be nicer if we were all as open as we wanted to be about it. There would be more writers, more painters, more lovers, and god damn it, life would be more interesting! [02:30] Scott: life is as interesting as we make it [02:31] Scott: you always have the power to be interested in something. We always have the choice of how we are going to react to a situation. [02:31] Scott: a great quote I try to live by, "We can always choose the way we do our work, even if we cannot choose the work itself." [02:32] Jen: That is very very true. [02:32] Jen: I worked in a collection agency for a while, and those were words to live by [02:32] Scott: pretty soon you'll realize you are in control of your own emotions, no matter what you experience. [02:33] Jen: .... Thats getting into a whole different realm. [02:34] Scott: i'm a very positive person when i'm with people, i save my dark moments for when i'm by myself. I think I do that so that I can explore my dark moods without the interruptions of other people's dark moods. Most people have a negative look on all situations right from the start and if you aren't ready for it (being in a dark mood yourself) you may forget that you have control over yourself and instead give-in and accomidate their dark mood [02:34] Scott: yeah yeah, I've got a lot of thoughts in my head all the time [02:34] Scott: everything seems to connect to everything else somehow, in my head at least [02:35] Jen: Emotions come from water, they're ruled by water, they ARE water (elementally speaking) And they just flow. You stop one emotion for too long and you get exactly what you get when you build a dam in a river. To make any sort of progress on being emotionally stable a person just has to let their emotions flow [02:37] Scott: I'm going to entertain the idea that I have somewhat of a virgin mind when it comes to religion, being that I have been adament about not trusting any specific religion for knowing that there either can't be one that's true and the rest false or that they are all true or all false [02:37] Scott: because all religions have something in them that connects to all the other religions [02:38] Scott: ugh, i'm totally 'conversation swinging' right now. lol [02:38] Jen: *grins* [02:38] Jen: So. Now that you've rambled, want my ever so unique idea on life the universe and everything? [02:39] Scott: I can't stop you if you want to share. I'm a great listener [02:40] Scott: i'll warn you though, my natural tendancy is to disprove what other's say about the religion they believe in. Whether or not this affects what you are about to tell me I'm not sure, but the warning is there. [02:40] Jen: *grins* I've just never told someone not in my immediate sphere of people... or while not very very...relaxed [02:41] Scott: I will say that I honestly believe that there is a reason people are passioante about things, simply because they believe in it. I can trust someone's motives even if I do not trust the information resulting from those motives [02:41] Jen: Makes sense [02:42] Scott: i'd love to meet someone who would try to disprove most of what I believe in. [02:42] Scott: give me some balance, so that I don't let it get out of hand in my head [02:42] Scott: just in case i can't do that for myself [02:42] Scott: anyway, i'm listening. ;) [02:45] Jen: Well. At the core, it's very simple, but like all simple things (in nature) is very very complex. Duality. Dark and light, male and female, (or better put masculine and feminine) So creation, right? Every. Single. Living. Thing. starts with this duality. And it's found alllll the way up through the evolutionary and food chains to the really super computers, because at it's base what is a computer but a binary system, and is it a coincidence that the two symbols used in binary are a 1 and a 0, nope! [02:46] Scott: 1 and 0, the existance of something and the non existance of something. The Yin-Yang theory is something that I believe in. [02:46] Jen: So, it starts there, and keeps going, however everything that goes up must come down as they say, so create create 1010101 and on and on, and everything basically implodes on itself. Why? Because again it's one sided. So there has to be a completely opposite, so you have the side that is destruction. [02:48] Scott: so the opposite of creation is simple destruction [02:48] Scott: creation as a whole [02:48] Jen: Yep. Simple, and not simple. Simple because, you're born, you grow, your cells get old, everything stops working, you die. [02:49] Jen: Not simple because it can be found in every single aspect of every single natural thing. And even un natural things. [02:49] Scott: creation as a whole and destruction as a whole, more what i meant i think [02:49] Jen: Meaning seperate unto themselves? [02:50] Scott: complete creation and complete destruction [02:50] Jen: Well, I cant think of an example of one single thing that is either. [02:51] Jen: A baby is made... lots of destruction there, think of all of the sustinance [02:51] Scott: i need more, please go on. [02:51] Scott: nod* [02:51] Jen: An act of pure destruction... say chemical fire in a forest... lots of creation there, even if that land cant be used again for hundreds of years. [02:52] Scott: potential [02:52] Scott: and unrealized [02:52] Jen: of course, jobs, a building, a life altering event, awareness... a million things [02:52] Jen: kind of like the butterfly effect [02:54] Scott: explain that to me [02:54] Jen: The butterfly effect? [02:54] Scott: yes [02:54] Jen: You'll like this one. [02:54] Scott: i've seen the movie, if that gives me any credit. [02:54] Scott: but i don't think it does. heh [02:54] Jen: lol well that really says it all. [02:54] Jen: You can't change one thing in history without it affecting unforseen millions of things. [02:55] Jen: Reason being that everything *is* connected [02:55] Jen: now in the movie it was all these big dramatic things of course. [02:55] Jen: But who is to say that the butterfly in zimbabwe that flew over the old shamans hut, didn't have something to do, in some itty bitty way with a car accident in New York City> [02:56] Jen: It is hard to believe, but the threads are there. And the interesting thing about that is that all those other things had a hundred things connecting THEM to that moment, so you can't even skip a step, for altering something else. [02:57] Scott: what youa re saying is that what we do or what happens to us isn't entirely our choice, but it's also not the single choice of someone else. Instead, it's the result of hundreds, perhaps thousands of other choices made that lead up to and include your own choice [02:58] Scott: but then how does one base which choice influences the most or more than the other choices, etc. how much weight do we give our own choices? [02:58] Jen: That could also be called fate or destiny. So when you're making a choice, is it free will or not? Thats getting into a huge complicated puzzle isn't it? But actually it's just a warning that everything we do affects the world, which is also a princple of magick [02:58] Jen: see how it spirals? [02:59] Jen: *grins* [03:00] Scott: ok, so relating to telekenesis, if i KNOW that I can influence the choice of the bottle on my desk to move or fall off, I would also KNOW that I'm not the only one influencing that choice. The air around the bottle is choosing to keep it there, the gravity is choosing to continue to pull it to the desk, etc, etc. [03:00] Scott: i'm just using telekenesis as an easy example [03:01] Scott: so what happens? does everyone involved choose to cooperate so that the bottle can be moved without me physically touching it? [03:03] Jen: Hmmm, air choosing something doesn't really fit in my own personal thought. The air is just there unless we manipulate it somehow. Same goes with gravity. However, wether or not you actually move the bottle without touching it depends on many things, I would guess. A.) Do you really without a doubt 100% believe that you can and will move the bottle? B.) How bad do you want it, how much are you going to work for it? and C.) If a moth flew by outside and Mitsy the cat pounced past your desk, and dragged on your mouse cord, which knocked over the bottle, would you even for a minute consider that it had "worked"? [03:05] Scott: ok, yes, 'air' being just an overtly inexplained participant. the one who influenced the air around the bottle would have made more sense. But, I really like your moth/cat example. Remember that scene in The Matrix where the Oracle says "And don't worry about the vase" and then Neo knocks over the Vase when he is turning to look for the vase? And she tells him it'll bother him when he asks himself if he would have knocked it over if she hadn't said anything. [03:06] Jen: lol exactly. So, in your philote idea... perhaps they cant make you move the bottle with your mind, for one reason or another, so they fulfilled your wish another way [03:06] Scott: the real question here is, CAN we actually influence other people or other philote rays (if they exist..)? [03:07] Jen: Other people? Of course. [03:07] Scott: we can put an idea in their head, but we can't force them to act on it [03:07] Jen: Force=Influence not the same thing [03:08] Scott: ok good point [03:08] Jen: You said influence. *grins* But in effect, if your will is stronger than anothers, you *can* force them to do something. [03:09] Scott: There's a great example from the book "Think and Grow Rich" that would really back up that last statement of yours, that we can force them to do something. I just read it tonight (at the bookstore that I went to earlier). I should buy that book. [03:10] Jen: Yea I learned a lot about that crap being a bill collector [03:10] Jen: and thats all psychology [03:10] Jen: which is a different realm, yet again [03:10] Jen: lol [03:11] Scott: someone who's so entirely consumed by a desire to do or be something that when they face the person who can realize their desire, that person is unable to stop them from their desire. It doesn't matter what they say to the one in control, just being there, showing their strong desire is enough to force the one in control to do exactly what is needed to fulfill their desire [03:12] Jen: *grins* dear god if ONLY it worked that way. [03:12] Scott: or maybe i'm talking about influence [03:13] Scott: tonight I'm past the point of catching myself on discrepencies [03:13] Jen: Well, my only real run in with consciously influencing people was my job. And I know that when I found a 12,000$ account sitting in my computer, and got that person on the phone, I would say or do just about anything I had too, within the law, tokeep that person on the phone [03:13] Jen: And when I had a $20 phone bill, I would tell them it was thier credit, guilt them a little, and hang up [03:14] Jen: so one might say I reeeeeally wanted that 12000, and therefor would attempt to force them based on my will alone [03:14] Jen: and I would do that by altering my phrases, words, tone of voice, tactic, how I explained things, at what point I explained things, etc [03:15] Scott: speaking generally here, people aren't smart because they are smart, they are smart because they have such a strong desire to be smart that they would do anything to be smart [03:15] Scott: because of the desire, they end up taking the steps to get there [03:16] Jen: lol thats kinda a neat concept. Again smart can be broken down though. Wit? Yes, I believe you can train yourself on wit, on memory, on logical equations... and your IQ i.e. how 'smart' you are is just the base dough you have to work with [03:16] Scott: ahh yes, i generalize too much. smart, wisdom, intelligence, etc. i was just using smart as a general item [03:17] Jen: Well how ya ever gonna get to the bottom of philotes and all of this big heavy stuff if it's all thingies? [03:17] Jen: *grins* [03:17] Jen: I teasin ya [03:17] Scott: i probably never will, no [03:18] Scott: not until I die I guess [03:18] Jen: One day the bottle will move, and you'll just know. No matter how it moved. [03:18] Jen: My big story that I love to tell [03:18] Jen: I was 16, and I hated God and everything to do with faith [03:19] Jen: and my mother is a devout roman catholic and one of those ones who gets prayers awnsered and.. is kinda creepy [03:19] Jen: and in the midst of a horrible arguement I said fuck God, he doesn't exsist, nothing runs this earth etc etc [03:20] Jen: and then I said if god exsists I want proof. I want a big yellow bouncy ball to come flying through that window tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock [03:20] Jen: So the next day we were watching One Life To Live and one of those punchy punchy balls with the rubber band on the end bounces through the window and past the TV [03:20] Jen: My mom laughed, because she didnt rememeber, and she thought it was cute that the kids outside were dorks [03:21] Jen: but I freaked out [03:21] Jen: The kids got scared, but they calmed down once I gave them their balloon back, my mom remembered pretty quickly once I pointed out that it was a big yellow bouncy ball and that it was 2 oclock [03:21] Jen: lol [03:22] Jen: and she got a drink and never mentioned that I should be more godfearing ever again [03:23] Scott: you think maybe you influenced the kids throw based on how much you were thinking about the bouncy ball being tossed through the window the previous day? the massive amount of emotion and attention when you were yelling somehow caused a ripple effect to influence the boy's actions the next day? [03:23] Jen: Well thats just it, I wasnt thinking about it. I said it, I stormed off to my room, I turned on my music, and I wrote in my diary and forgot all about it [03:23] Scott: maybe he was sleeping and somehow heard your argument and he acted out his dream or whatever [03:24] Jen: emotion and intent, yes, I think that influenced, not the kids, but the entity, which in turn influenced everything to make that happen [03:24] Jen: I put on a beacon [03:24] Jen: I have always had power, I turned on my beacon, and then the Gods said "Okay, we'll show you some magick, and see what you do with it" [03:24] Jen: and that led to where I am today [03:24] Scott: it's interesting, in relation to the philotes again. if there is a connection between us all, then you story proves God exists. because of there is a connection between us all there must have been the one who created it and that one is God as we call it [03:25] Jen: Yea, I can see that. I said show, the philotes got together and showed. [03:25] Jen: hehe [03:25] Scott: yep [03:25] Scott: and the philotes exist only if an intelligence within all the phlotes exist [03:25] Scott: eerie in a way [03:27] Jen: What I always wonder about is the constant struggle within a person to hold on to belief. Because I remembered for years after that, thinking and dreaming about it, and I started to have to ask my mom if it really happened, just so I wouldnt lose it. And my mate (who is very new to magick) had an enormous experience recently (well not so recent now, like 2 yrs ago) and he still has to ask me every now and then to tell him it was real. [03:28] Scott: that's a whole 'nother topic for discussion [03:28] Jen: *grins* [03:31] Scott: ready to give your mind a chance to recoupe? [03:32] Scott: although ironically, idle minds tend to be the most busy [03:32] Jen: Thats pretty acurate. Considering I'm an unemployed loser at the moment. [03:32] Jen: heheh [03:32] Scott: i'm employed, but not working yet. ugh, haven't got a start date and it's been 2 weeks. i'm anxious to get back to work [03:33] Jen: Well congrats! [03:34] Scott: thanks. heh [03:35] Scott: i think this philotic theory is going to help me absorb all kinds of information for all kinds of different topics a lot easier [03:35] Jen: *grins* Thats really cool [03:35] Scott: even if the theory is wrong, it opens up ideas for all kinds of other things [03:35] Jen: I hope I helped. [03:36] Scott: i hope i helped too. i doubt you were here simply to help me, we all have our selfish reasons [03:37] Jen: Curiousity was my reason. And yea, selfishly I love a good debate, and I was lonely. Had I not seen your posting, I would have posted. [03:37] Jen: hehe [03:38] Scott: seems you should be thanking me for saving your the trouble. ;) [03:40] Jen: Absolutely, thank you! I usually post under "Intelligent Insomniac" And the last time I posted, someone suggested their penis as a cure for my insomnia *sigh* [03:40] Scott: were they really that wrong about their idea? [03:41] Scott: or were you just not accepting of their train of thought to your solution? heh [03:42] Jen: lol well, they were near guessing correctly, as a good whopping orgasm will do it every time however, their particular penis would most likely not have anything to do with it! [03:42] Scott: haha, defeated before they even bagn [03:42] Scott: began* [03:43] Jen: I would have to say so. The planets were definitely not alligned. [03:43] Scott: I'm not even going to try and read into that [03:45] Jen: *giggles* Good. Just one of those things witchyes say to make fun of themselves sometimes. [03:47] Scott: alright, i'm low on motivation to keep my eyes open right now [03:47] Jen: *grins* Get some sleep. Hope we can talk again sometime [03:48] Scott: I'm sure we will. I'm always online, but not always at my computer. Feel free to at least attempt to chat when the desire arises [03:48] Jen: Surely. Night night *wags* [03:49] Scott: good night |

Brrrrrr..
It's the cold that gets us. It's the rain that leaves us wanting more. The clouds they taunt us. The ground plays tricks with the slippery leaves that continune to fall.
It's raining now, like it was before and will tomorrow. Sometimes you have to wonder, "if everything has an opposite, who has our opposite?"
Bring on the seasons! |

| [ | I Feel |
| | sick | ] | The past few nights I've made sure not to fall asleep listening to music. If I leave the music on before I fall asleep I end up thinking...a lot. For some reason I have been afraid to do any deep thinking on anything recently while I'm in my bed(which is when I do most of my thinking). So instead I've been putting on a movie or something that I can sorta half watch while falling asleep. If I'm trying to follow a storyline in a movie then I am able to keep myself from thinking freely.
I feel better having got that thought out of my head and coming to the realization that something must be bothering me.
Last Wednesday we played a show at the Central Saloon! That was our best show yet. It really did kick some serious ass. About 75'ish people showed up which is pretty damn cool. The other bands, The Astrayas and Dyslexic 33 were awesome. This is a cool place to play. There is a stage at the end of the bar that's elevated which is always fun for us(and my guitarist and bassist who like to jump off things). This was the first time I've had my set mic'd for a live performance. I love my kick! We were hardcore that night. I had a lot of fun. We found out a couple days later that The Central Saloon is rated among the top 10 places to see live rock music in the nation. Thats the icing on the cake right there. |

| | just, blah. | ] | So, today I've been in a strange mood where I can't really seem to do anything quite right. It's like I was just a little off-balance with everything. Something just isn't quite right. I'm not quite myself.
Hmm..yes, ok so I've made that point very clear. I don't think it's going to get any better tomorrow, which sucks. I got a lot accomplished today, which doesn't suck.
I feel just, kinda....blah. What the hell happened to me? All I want to do is sleep and eat which is actually very weird, because usually I hardly sleep and almost never eat. Maybe I'm just tired from all the activity this past week and lack of sleep (and food). |

| | "Lemmings" by (Blink 182) The OLD blink 182 that was punk! | ] | I woke up this morning. Then I fell back asleep. I woke up this afternoon and got out of bed. I then experienced a large earthquake, but nothing fell off my shelves which isn't too weird I suppose.
11(no not Eleven, 11! 11 just looks cooler) songs are lined up for our October 6th show at....The Central Saloon! Which reminds me, everyone needs to go to that show (yes, that includes your mom). I think it's 21+. Speaking of thinking, I need to give them a call and find out if it is infact a 21+ show. Did I mention we are closing that show? How sick is that? They even contacted US asking if we were available to close! We have to fill 90 minutes of space starting at midnight.
Later on in October we'll be playing at Studio 7 and there's a strong possibility we'll be playing at the Graceland really soon, either in late October or sometime in November.
I spent the majority of this afternoon practicing yet another song. When does it ever end?! Ahhhhh!!!11!!!oneone Progress comes to us on occasion. I'd write about the new song titles, but then I'd have to kill everyone who read them. If you aren't already on our band mailing list and would like to be please leave a comment with your email address (or just email: theband@smtn.com and tell us to add you). To those who don't want to be on the mailing list anymore, well screw you (and your dog)! Yeah, that's right, I went there.

We fucked things up there on stage and rocked the crowd. This was the most badass party/concert/getting drunk time that I've been to all year! You will definitely want to make it next year if you didn't make it this year.
Here's a few more pics and a few short movie clips from our own camera: (Also not work safe. Nudity in some of the pics and movie clips)
