FIC: Love Me (Love Me Not)

And then after all that, I wrote a Thing. I honestly don't know if it's a good Thing, but in the clear light of, um, three in the afternoon, I can say I don't hate it. Which makes a nice change.

Title: Love Me (Love Me Not)
Fandom: Doctor Who (Eight's Big Finish Adventures)
Characters and/or pairings: Charley Pollard, Eighth Doctor
Rating: G
Word count: 962
Contains: Angst (or more than is usual for me), pretentiousness
Disclaimer: Charley and Eight belong to Big Finish, not me.
A/N: Set at some point between Seasons of Fear and Neverland, although it doesn't contain any spoilers.

Speak Of Me... Historical Note

IE, where I geek out and go 'Isn't history cool, guys?!' So. Here goes.

Most of the people and places here are fictional, but since the true history of SOE is at least as interesting as anything I could come up with, a few of the real people involved made it into the story along the way.

Title: Speak Of Me In The Present Tense
Author name: laughinggas13
Word Count: ~30 000
Fandom: Star Trek XI
Rating: R
Main Characters and/or pairings: Kirk/Spock. Lots of McCoy, cameos from Pike, Uhura, Gaila, Chapel and Scotty
Genre: Action/Adventure
Summary: A World War II AU in which Kirk, Spock and McCoy are agents working for SOE. Parachuted into Occupied France, they’re on a mission to foil plots, blow things up and hopefully make it home in one piece. Kirk is annoyingly persistent, Spock spends far too long analysing things, and McCoy would just like not to have to jump out of aeroplanes, please.
Warnings: Violence, implied off-screen torture.
Disclaimers: Um, yeah, not mine in any way, shape or form.
Author's Notes: Massive thanks to my beta, barrowjane . Also to amine_eyes  for giving it a read-through and telling me it wasn't rubbish, for last-minute (by which I mean, 11 o'clock on the day the rough drafts were due) details on what the inside of a bomber plane would look like, and for history geek!squee. Also-also to kradie , again for the history squee. I'm just sorry Alan Turing only crops up as a passing reference. Also-also-also thanks to my fab artist melisus  and fanmixer ninety6tears for bringing the awesome. There is an Epic Historical Note over here (which I'll probably keep sticking stuff onto as I remember more reasons why History Is Cool).

I may be mad but... I'm thinking of signing up to the scifibigbang . I think I was lured in by the gorgeous banner they've got. And I've had an epic-length TOS idea that's been kicking round my head for a while now, so I'd like some motivation to knuckle down and get that written.

Out of interest, has anything come of trek_exchange ? I'm signed up, but last I heard, they were allowing another week. And that was two weeks ago. I have this paranoid fear that everyone's been matched up and I've missed it somehow. Ah well, I'll go take a look and maybe PM whoever's running it.

Rock climbing with the Brownies has made me realise how tragically unfit I am - time was, I'd have swarmed up those walls in three seconds flat. Today, I was noticing a distinct lack of arm muscles. Need to get in shape anyway for a) Public Schools (Yes, it's the time of year where I volunteer to get stabbed by international fencers again) and b) the Sport Relief Mile.

Still need to decide on our costumes for that. Someone suggested we go as Na'vi, but it was decided blue body-paint and sweat really wouldn't mix well, so it's back to the drawing board.

There's somehing distinctly Wodehousian about Three Men in a Boat, which is a daft thought given Wodehouse came later. At any rate, I'm loving it to bits and I reckon it makes up for Paradise Lost, which I'm sure is a wonderful piece of literature but not the sort of thing I want to have to learn extracts from. I'm amusing myself by working out how it fits in to the Good Omens canon, something I won't be sharing with my teacher.

I want to see The Bletchley Circle so badly, but I'm in the wrong country and Swedish TV is most probably not going to show it because they tend to be idiots, and oh, I'll have to find some slightly…

Ooh, a modern Medea *does* sound interesting - like the original's dark and shocking and all, but not that far out of the usual run of Greek myths, whereas that playing out in a modern setting...…

    :D Thank you!

I love her toooo! And yes, according to my headcanon, she's definitely gay, and I want to think they were hinting at that on the show too, what with the trouser-wearing and her being…

BUT WE COULD DISCUSS OTHER SHAKESPEARE TOO AND THAT WOULD BE AWESOME.

Yeah, I wasn't overly enamoured of the Henry plays, though having only seen one adaption and not having read the text I'm…
