My apologies all
So it seems someone on here was intent on placing a suggestive ad. Suggestive ads aren't something inherently unique, but definitely inappropriate for this community. I've removed it, and many thanks to Sorika_kat for calling it to my attention.

I don't know if many people saw it though.. I've disregarded this for quite awhile myself, and Mass as a whole for quite awhile as well. My parish no longer has Life Teen. It seems Life Teen is viewed as a heretic organization in my Diocese. Any of you having the same problem? Any of you still active in a Life Teen organization?

I just received an email today from Fr. Christopher Shackelford, a former parochial vicar at St. Cyril of Alexandria Church (in Houston, TX) and the current pastor of St. Andrew Catholic Church (in Channelview, TX).

Apparently, Steve Kelly (the youth minister at St. Cyrils back when Fr. Chris and I were there) was admitted into ICU earlier this week for a viral infection with flu-like symptoms. As of last night, he was on a ventillator and had a 40% chance of recovery (up from the 10% chance on Tuesday). He's in extremely critical condition right now, most of his organs had shut down, and some of them have begun to function again through the efforts of the doctors at Memorial City Herman Hospital.

Steve was one of the few people I've seen who really knew how to reach out to youth. His charismatic and friendly personality as well as his great leadership attracted many and allowed a young and floundering St. Cyril's Life Teen program grow, and I know of many people who have grown in their faith through his efforts.

If y'all could please take just a moment to say a prayer for him, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Ahoy. I'm part of a band which currently has no name. We need suggestions.

There's (usually) 7 of us. Acoustic (and voice), electric, bass, drums, and 3 singing-type-people. Three of us started out in a parish LifeTeen band, and we came together in the current larger group to put on XLT. We're now kind of the diocesan house band, playing youth rallies, conferences, and all sorts of other Catholic events where it'd be nice not to just be "the band that plays for XLT".

Suggestions? Prayers? Coffee?

I'm not sure how many of y'all have heard about this, but today Texans are voting on 9 different propositions that could become state law, the most storied and controversial of which so far has been Proposition 2, the passing of which would define marriage as the union between a man and a woman, essentially outlawing homosexual marriage. The following article is from NBC Affiliate KPRC Channel 2 Houston...

In the World, But Not of It

I didn't put up a struggle and I fell head long into sin.  And when the opportunity came, I saw a way to move out of that world.

But God held me there and said, "Stay."

( Read more...Collapse )

I believe that with your prayer,  God's hands will move on the Co-Ops.  That God will start something new here and change us from the inside out.  I need your help though.

I'm asking for prayer pledges.

( Read more...Collapse )

Thank you.

James 1:5-8

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Hi,
First let me introduce myself. My name is Emma and basically I’m here is for a little bit of inspiration. I’m 19 years old and going to Vancouver Film School in October. I went to an all girls private school for my high school, which was different.
Now the reason I’m here, I’m currently working on writing a script. It’s in its very beginning stages and just working with a general idea. My idea is a movie about being a teenager. So you’re probably thinking, wait wasn’t mean girls already done. This isn’t going to be that kind of movie, I want to take real life stories of teenagers dealing with school, friends, parents, relationships, drugs and alcohol typically in the older age group(juniors and seniors). I’m hoping my movie will be similar to something like Thirteen, or even Elephant (without the whole shooting). As I said before I went to a private all girls’ school, very different to any public school in North America so I’m here to ask for maybe stories, or ideas on things I should focus on.
I would love to base my script on real stories but obviously change the characters slightly to fit the story. So please, send me an email (stars_nmixtapes_x@yahoo.com), I will change names so there’s no issues with security etc. And I will credit your help.
Thanks.
Emma

I hate to keep leaving these messages. They feel like spam. But I have just found out that someone else I know has died. That makes three, in only a week. ALl of them were under the age of 25 - 17, 20, and 22. Two of them graduated from my high school and one of them will never see his senior year, his senior prom, or his high school graduation. All of these deaths were from car accidents. One for certain was the direct result of alcohol. Please, PLEASE drive safely and never drink and drive. Never let your friends drink and drive. It kills too many of my friends and family.

Steubenville West
Well, first off, HI! I'm new, and my name is Melly. I'm a part of the Life Teen ministry at St. Pius X in El Paso, TX. Okay, blah blah blah, anywho:

I just got back from the Steubenville conference in Tuscon, AZ. Its my first Steubenville conference, and it is amazing! From Paul George to Kelly Pease, Matt Smith, Matt Maher, Father Stan, and adoration...I'm just so excited and happier than i have been in such a long time! I am going to admit that I'm afraid that I'm just going to revert back to my chains of sin after a month or so...so I was hoping that maybe i could get some back-up or what not...I'd appreciate it. Well, i'm off to bed!
