Queen Elizabeth II
BBC Live Stream
I spotted David Beckham just before he paid his respects at Her Majesty's coffin - I didn't recognise him at the time, but thought 'Wow, what a good-looking chap. He looks a little like Josh Hartnett!' as the camera kindly lingered on him. I later saw on the News that Becks had been queueing with the general public since 2am, so overnight essentially. That's respect.
I can't be there in person, but the live stream has enabled me to participate and pay my respects in my own way. I've appreciated the sacrifices made by those who have attended, who have endured rain, cold and lack of sleep as they've queued. And when they each take their turn to pay respectful homage at Her Majesty's coffin, it's so deeply personal, yet it feels like a shared prayer.
I've loved watching the changing of the guard (every 10 minutes). And who can fail to be moved by the family vigils? Yesterday, The Queen's children, including our new King Charles III, and today The Queen's grandchildren.
Our nation (and Commonwealth, and world) mourns, and yet a beautiful, renewed feeling of strength and unity has grown from our loss.
Rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth II.
And God save the King!
The funeral takes place on Monday at 11am, and I will be watching from home with tissues at the ready.
