Members of Scottish Parliment back a bill to allow unmarried and same sex couples the same rights to adoption that married couples have, which is a nice change compared to the Wisconsin Marriage Amendment that will strip the rights of all unmarried couples, not just same-sex unmarried couples. The only brightspot is there are murmurs that Wisconsin might just be the state to buck the trend of these amendments passing. I really really fucking hope that the rumors become reality because I would hate to live in a state with sanctioned discrimination.

And shortly there will be a vote as to whether or not Wisconsin should re-instate the death penalty....after having a ban on it for OVER 150 FUCKING YEARS. Wisconsin crime statistics. Why do we need to re-instate the death penalty when our murder rate for 2000 is 33rd in the nation? Why? I know that my reaction to the vote is highly colored by my having grown up in Minnesota (death penalty free), spent my late teens years til now in Wisconsin and time in Scotland and Ireland. None of them have the death penalty, so it is a very foreign concept to me.

And I was raised by liberals (I remember as a child thinking that Regan was evil....).

Got a letter yesterday from workers comp (!) about my wrists, called the lady back today and am waiting for a response. I have no idea what workers comp entails, so really looking forward to speaking to her.
