Sorry for the lack of updates on MarquetteActors.

I'm just dropping in to remind everyone about the

upcoming production of Annie Get Your Gun performed

by the Marquette Senior High School.  It runs January

13-15 at 7:30pm at Kaufman Auditorium.  It's going to

be good!

I also changed the background again in honor of NMU's

production Beauty & The Beast which everyone should

try out for! November 19th and 20th!

Seussical Tickets!
Seussical Tickets On Sale September 15

Tickets for Marquette Arts and Culture Center's (MACC) Youth Theatre production
of Seussical the Musical! will go on sale September 15 at the Marquette Arts and
Culture Center Gifts and Gallery Shop located in the lower level of the Peter
White Library. The show runs Friday, October 22 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, October
23 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Forest Roberts Theatre of Northern Michigan
University.

The show features 65 local youth and a 18 piece orchestra conducted by Betsy
Grugin. The show is directed by Nikke Nason, with vocal direction by Rebecca
Swett and choreographed by MSHS Senior Athena Stanley. Costumes are designed by
MSHA Sophomore Mia Cinelli and sets are designed by local artist Margaret Boyle.
The show stars 15 year old Brian Dettmann as Horton the Elephant, 17 year old
Athena Stanley as Gertrude McFuzz, 17 year old Tony Pruett as the Cat in the
Hat, 9 year old Elizabeth Grugin as Jo-Jo and 15 year old Susan Boyle as Mayzie
La Bird. The show also features Abby Letts as The Sour Kangaroo, Andrea Otis,
Carrie Seavoy and Salem Watts as Bird Girls, Cameron Chudy as the Mayor, Iris
Jeffries as the Mayor's Wife, Pat Bradley as the General along with Mia Cinelli,
London Durand and Callie Wilkinson as Wickershams.

Culled from the many literary works of Theodor Seuss Geisel, known to most as
Dr. Seuss, "Seussical" tells the wacky tale of an elephant who discovers a
planet on a speck of dust, of a bird who grows a tail so long she can't fly and
of a kid who dares to dream. And it is a joy both for children and the adults
who dare to envy their childhoods.

Just imagine a world where anything's possible * an elephant in a tree, a person
too tiny to see, a heroic child and dreams running wild! Just think of a
magical, musical world where helping a friend, never giving up and keeping a
promise come alive in this amazing Broadway show that's for adults in their 90's
down to kids in their twos!

Seussical creates the witty, wild and whimsical world of Dr. Seuss as it has
never been seen before. When chaos erupts in the Jungle of Nool, it will take
the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, and a gaggle of
characters to bring harmony back to their world.

Created by composer Stephen Flaherty and writer Lynn Ahrens * who also wrote
"Once on This Island" and the score for "Ragtime" and the score for the movie
"Anastasia" * the show boasts an exciting soundtrack with a story that cleverly
combines many of the good Dr.'s finest themes.
Along with the Horton books "Horton Hears a Who" and "Horton Hatches the Egg",
we get samplings from countless works, including "McElligot's Pool," "The Grinch
Who Stole Christmas," "I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew," and "Hunches
in Bunches." Sometimes these elements are worked in so masterfully that one
can't help but smile.

Among the outstanding musical numbers are the ballads "Alone in the Universe",
"All For You" and "Solla Sollew", the salsa-inspired "Amazing Mayzie," and a
jazzy number titled "How Lucky You Are."
In the end, "Seussical" is a winner that pays tribute to one of the greatest *
if not the greatest * children's authors of all time. But this isn't a
children's show. This is a Broadway caliber piece that will entertain anyone who
appreciates solid storytelling, quality music and imagination.

Tickets prices are as follows:
$5 Children/$8 Adults in advance
$7 Children/$10 Adults at the door

Tickets available at the Marquette Arts and Culture Center Gallery Gifshop
located in the lower level of the Peter White Library. Call 228-0472 to order
by credit card or for more information. Tickets will also be available at the
door.

Time Warp
Does anybody know who's directing Rocky this year? I'm debating whether or not I should give it a shot. Although, I don't think I'm up to the level of dancing around stage half-naked yet. I'm just thinking about it, though. The director will have a big impact on my decision, so let me know.

My third show of the summer, and the second one worth watching: Godspell!
Godspell is a musical based on the gospel of Matthew and contains everything from comedy to tragedy. It takes place a few years in the future during the second coming of Christ.
The show dates are August 5 (yesterday) through August 7 and August 11-14. All shows are at 7:30 at the Vista Theatre in Negaunee. Tickets are $6 for high schoolers and younger and $9 for adults. There is a heck of a lot of talent in this show-You should really come see it!!!!!! :-D
