AnimeNEXT 2012

Heeeyyy, so I know I never really post here anymore, but it's more of a permanent log of my life events than my Tumblr (where old posts just get lost and buried over time, and it's difficult to access them again), so I'm going to write about AnimeNEXT here!

Friday:
I was cosplaying as Roxy, from Homestuck, which apparently I am into now! I was reminiscing about last October (New York Comic Con) when I was really annoyed at the obnoxious Homestuck cosplayers, and how I hated Homestuck because it was all over my Tumblr Dash, and I didn't understand what it was or care.

Then several months later, I am cosplaying as a character from it, oops.

So, Jess and Louis and I were in Artist Alley again this year. Friday my sales were awful. :( Over all, my sales weren't that great, so I'm thinking this is my last year selling my own stuff. But I'll revisit that later.

Afro Circus was stuck in Louis's head all weekend basically. So she would sing it, and then we would sing it, and it was just a generally awful thing.

Being Roxy was hella fun?? Like, it wasn't that complicated a costume, but just from the sheer recognition/adoration of the character, people were stopping me and chatting with me, asking for pictures, taking pictures with me, etc etc. I usually don't cosplay things that are like...popular or recognizable lol so it was a good change for me! I wanted to be social. And I met some cool people. Some reeeaaallyy......cool......people.......... . . ....

Friday was also the first time I EVER took part in a photoshoot. I had no idea what I was getting into, and I didn't wind up staying long because...ok, I don't know how photoshoots usually go, but with Homestuck there are thousands of characters, and they were going through them one by one and taking group shots of all the people cosplaying that character, and then they were going to do pairings and stuff. And yeah. Thankfully, they did the Kids first, or I would have had to wait for at least 12 groups of Trolls to get their picture taken. But, I posed in the Roxy photo, and then I bounced back to the table. Would have loved to stay, but it was hottttt outside, and yeah, I felt bad abandoning the table to Jess and/or Louis for too long.

WOW I'm being really wordy, sorry.

I guess the next thing of note would be that we went to the Friday night rave, which was going to start earlier than the Saturday one. Saturday was our long day (12 hours of Artist Alley being open), so we were pretty sure we weren't going to be going to Saturday's. But the Friday rave was awesome. :) There was a Dave Strider cosplayer DJing, and they high-fived me when I walked by in a conga line. And then a different Dave asked me to dance, and it was fun, and also I got a hug. :) And they played Enter Telephone, which is one of my favorite mash-ups/remixes.

Saturday:
Ugh, so long.

One of the highlights of Saturday (and some of Friday) though was that I'd be on my way somewhere and overhear snippets of people's conversations in which they were explaining/complaining about how to get to the Dealers' Room. In past years, the exit of Artist Alley was right near the entrance to the Dealers' Room, so you could just walk through from one to the other. This year for some reason they wouldn't let anyone go through the simple little path to get into the Dealers' Room?? And the other opening in the curtain was an exit only. So you had to go outside the building and walk all the way around and go through one of the panel areas to get to it. Artist Alley, the Dealers' Room, and the panel areas were all in the same large room, with each part sectioned off with curtains. You actually had to LEAVE THE BUILDING in order to get to a different part of the room you just came from???? Anyway, it was just funny overhearing people complaining about it.

I went to a doll meet! I haven't been to any doll meets in forever, so it was kind of nice, especially because the NJ doll people are usually people I have met a few times. So it was a comfortable environment, and I did indeed see some familiar faces. :) The lolita casual meet kind of happened in the middle of the doll meet, but in the same area, so I kind of blew off the dolls for a while to chat up the lolitas. Gaaaddd everyone looked so wonderful. And just like the doll people, I knew most of the NJ lolitas, and they're a good bunch.

Uh, for some reason, YOLO became a thing. Like, it was a meme online for a while that I found funny for like five minutes and then it got old, like most things, but then it started coming up as a response to doing something completely mundane. "I have to pee, but I'm not gonna go yet. YOLO" and also when I was driving. Also, it's kind of just a funny word to say out loud? YOLO

Did I mention that Saturday I drove? I drove. It was my first time driving in lolita, but I wore good shoes, so it was all right, and I didn't kill us, yaaaaaaay.

On the way home, we stopped at Taco Bell. Yup, that was fun. Taco Bell in lolita in the middle of the night.

When I got back to Jess's house, though, I was SO RELIEVED to take off my wig and all my other burdensome clothing... Lolita is cute and pretty, but it is not generally comfortable, especially when I am sweating bullets in Artist Alley for 12 hours. Also my wig has the scratchiest wig cap ever, ugh.

But yeah, I let out the most delighted moan as I pulled that wig off my head, let me tell you.

Then I took a SHOWER. IT WAS THE BEST.

Sunday:
Hey, that's today!

Today was the short day, and also my lazy cosplay (my Stunfisk casual outfit, which is basically just a brown t-shirt dress and tights with a slouchy beret). And NO WIG (the best part).

I guess nothing too fantastic happened today. But at the end of the day, Artist Alley was closing at 4, so they started giving warnings for people to make final purchases at like 10 til and 5 til. And then at 4 they just shut the lights off. And left them off. Like, seriously? If they want us to be cleaned up and out of the room by 4, they should have us close earlier than that, so we can get our sales finished up, kick out all the con-goers, and THEN give the artists time to pack up. Do they realize how much stuff some of these people have? Do they realize how long it could take some of them to get out the door? Do they realize no one is getting out of there any faster in the dark??? Anyway, it was some bullshit, and the person who was in charge of Artist Alley last year was LIVID (she had a table there).

But bleh, after we got our butts out of the con, we went to Red Robin. While inside, it started to pour apocalyptic rain, so on our way out, we debated about waiting for it to let up, but then we were like, yolo, and just ran for it.

And then by the time we were back at Jess's, it had let up. And I managed to pack my car up without incident and get home safely.

And nowww here I am. :)

Pictures will be in a separate post, because this is already too long!

14 fév 2012

Hey!

Does

anyone still read this thing?

Anyway, I'm making a post because LJ is purging journals that have been inactive for a certain amount of time.

I don't really post here anymore, but I do want to keep the old posts I've made over the really long time I've had this journal, so.

I'm sentimental, ok? SHUT UP

MangaNEXT part 2 and Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Today was also day 3 of MangaNEXT. It was mostly reserved for wandering the Dealers' Room and Artist Alley a final few times to make any last-minute purchases we'd been mulling over. So we did, as well as taking some more pictures of costumes and stuff. We also played some random video games like Gauntlet (I have never touched a Dreamcast in my life prior to that) and Pop'n Music (WHICH IS HARD AS HELL WHAT EVEN). We had some lunch with Robin and wound up leaving pretty early, around 2.

While driving me home, on my neighborhood's main drag, we noticed trick or treaters, and one group happened to be...my family. XDDD Hailey was out on the prowl for candy, and my whole family was tagging along. So Jess dropped me off with them, and I followed her. She was so amusing. XD Petting cute decorations and fleeing from frightening ones. XD Then we went home and had some dinner. Then my brother and Jen took baby Jimmy home, and Hailey went to Barnes and Noble with my mom and my grandma. :) I got to say hey to people there, which was nice.

Then we brought Hailey home, and I got to watch baby Jimmy dance around spinning in circles while someone clapped. If you start clapping a rhythm, he just smiles and starts spinning. It's soooooooooooo cute. omg.

Anyway, I'll get around to posting pictures eventually. I still owe everyone Comic Con pictures. XD They're on my Photobucket...just haven't been posted here yet!

Epic MangaNEXT Post Part 1

I told Jen I would make one of these so she could vicariously experience MangaNEXT through my LJ. XD

Friday:

So, it was one of those days where I either had to go somewhere really, really early or wait forever and be there really, really late because I have no car and must rely on people for rides. Jess had to work until 5, so it was either wait until she got out to go or...have my mom bring me. But my mom had to work at 9am, so I had to go reeeallly early (according to the website, registration started at 9; I was there at about 8:30). Buuuut it turns out registration didn't really start until 11. Soooo there I was in my black and white plaid AP replica JSK lookin' all cute with just...hotel workers standing around going wut. There were a few other people for the con, but no one was really dressed up there yet. I had Lydian (one of my dolls) with me, so I thought, why not take some doll pictures to kill some time? So I set him up all nice by the fountain, switched on my camera, pointed, shot, and...my battery died. WHAT. I was so annoyed. I thought it had more power than that. :( FFFFFFFFFf. Sooo there was wandering. And sitting. And iPod listening. All by my lonesome. But I finally got to wait on the line for registration (yes, even though I was one of the first people at the con, I still didn't get to the line first and had to wait). There was a girl in front of me talking to some guys. She was dressed as England from Hetalia, and she was trying to explain to the guys what Hetalia was, but they had never heard of it. Also, she was speaking with an English accent. It was so awkward. Why are you in character? Why?

Badge in hand, I decided to take a look at the schedule and pick out things I might want to do (particularly while I was waiting around for Jess to show up, since I needed to keep busy). I noticed that they were starting to show anime at 12, and the first thing they'd show was Angelic Layer episodes 1-4, so I decided to take a trip down memory lane and watch that a while. It was freeeeezing in that room. =;_;= I had my jacket over me like a blanket, and I had gift shop coffee (mmm Flavia machine). So, I got to watch some, but then they cut off the fourth episode early... It was only around 1:30 by the time I got out of the anime viewing room. Next, I wandered Artist Alley for a while. For a convention that claims to be about manga and art and focusing on that aspect of Japanese entertainment, the Artist Alley was pretty damn small. A lot of neat stuff in there, though. I didn't buy anything yet, but I did mentally pick out what I might want to buy later.

I wanted to go to the Manga Library after I had exhausted Artist Alley, but it was also late opening...by like two hours. =x_x= So, totally at a loss for anything to do, I found myself at the bar. I asked the cute girl (who was not attending the con and was just staying at the hotel) next to me if 2:30 was too early to have a drink, and she said no, she already had two beers, so I ordered a vodka sour with Ketel 1. Mmmmyeah.

After this was the first time I encountered Piano Guy. He was this cute guy who had just sat down at the piano in the lobby and started playing the Office themesong. I was all like "YEAH" and then he was playing a lot of other awesome stuff, and he was very talented. On Saturday, he actually brought a Billy Joel song book to play out of. XD <3

Then I ran into Mia! She was decked out in her awesome Tumble costume from Cats. I was very impressed with it up close. It was also great to catch up with her, and meet some of her friends. Two of them were dressed as Johan and the guy from 5D's, and we were talking about Shoujocon (which was my very first anime con, held in that very hotel in 2002). Oh, Shoujocon... While we were hanging around, this dude came over and gave Mia a tribble to play with. XD It was cute. And then this other dude, who I can only describe as an honest-to-god real life troll, came over and had her play with a fake grenade. And then he was teaching us random tricks to play on people. So, I hung out with Mia for a while, happy to finally have found someone to talk to! No more Forever Alone! XD She was hungry so I went to the bar with her and her friend (whose name...was Tom, I think? I suck at names, fffff), and we actually got food this time. lol

Then Jess finally showed up! LOL I was happy to see her. Once she was there, we finally hit the Dealers' Room, which was also tiny, but still had some cool stuff. We browsed, and then we hit up Artist Alley so Jess could see it.

We kind of wandered around the convention for a while, until it was time for open-mic karaoke. Oh man. lol Karaoke was...something else. The girls who ran it (one of which was my friend Nicole!) used a laptop hooked up to a projector to put the words up, but some people didn't use it, and when they were looking away, the girls would type commentary about their performance, which was hilarious with crappy performances of Rent songs and this super creepy guy singing the English Digimon theme... And piano guy being awesome. XD Creepy Digimon guy decided to turn around and start chatting me up about Final Fantasy, and how Final Fantasy 7 is still the best one, and how Kingdom Hearts is cool, and how he's writing a fanfiction of it with original characters. AAHHHHHH I DON'T CARE. What is it about creepy nerds deciding that I'm the person they should chat up about their creepy fanfiction!? *headdesking forever* LOL But I wound up singing Come on Eileen and Ievan Polkka. XD A girl joined me in spinning a "leek" (which was really a drum stick, but we got the idea). There was also a Bad Romance dance done by some Naruto cosplayers (actually good ones, too). Also a Ninetails fox airguitaring. Yep. Someone sang Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" and the trolls in the back were singing along entirely in falsetto, making a song that now annoys me into hilarity. XD Thanks, trolls. A guy also sang a song from Elfen Lied a cappella, and he was very good, like classically trained opera singer good. YAY REAL SINGING. Anyway, we got kind of tired around 11, so we decided to bounce!

Saturday:

DAY TWO! Brought much more hilarity. XD Jess picked me up in my fairy-kei outfit, complete with new accessories and a giant pink wig with pigtail extensions. Then. We went to Subway. XDDD And got breakfast. After that, we grabbed Maureen and made her come with us. XD Frank had arrived there early, while we were at Subway lol. He's a morning person... XD But, anyway, we met him there, and everyone got their badges, and we went exploring again! While in the Dealers' Room, Maureen spotted an Edward Elric cosplayer and said, "Oh, look, it's a fullmetal alchemist... A graduation gown, really?" because he was wearing a red graduation gown instead of a coat with a hood. XD It made me LOL. Maureen, my very own cosplay elitist. And then we were making fun of her for judging people, and she said, "I don't judge; I criticize. If I were judging, I'd be giving out awards." XDXDXD

So, there was much wandering and taking pictures and exploring things. On a whim, we wandered into the video game realm. Jess and I sat down and played what we now know was Halo Reach but at the time had no idea. XD It was hilarious because neither of us knew how to play, and once I discovered that I could shot myself in the foot and stare at the ground while I ran, that's all I did. XD I accidentally shot Jess. After giving up on that, the four of us sat down and played the Scott Pilgrim game. It was a lot of fun, actually, but in time, we all died. XD

We decided to attend the Cabaret (this con's non-competitive equivalent of the Masquerade), which was pretty lame except for Elvira and the return of the opera guy from karaoke night! They were both awesome. Most of the others were awkward and boring, as pointed out by Maureen, self-appointed judge. XD Once the cosplay runway started, we bounced, because we didn't care. LOL

At this point, we decided to get some dinner. We went to the bar...again. XD They had tables, but none were free, so they stuck us in the corner with couches and a coffee table. XD It was awesome. And our bellies became full.

The next thing we wanted to do, pretty much, was the dance party. So we decided to sit around and kill time until that started. We grabbed some snacks and coffee and were just chillin on the floor when this kid came up and complimented Jess's bag (a totebag which she'd painted with Heartless and Nobodies). She thanked him, and he engaged her in conversation about Kingdom Hearts. The conversation soon turned into awkward rambling on the kid's part... And then suddenly, literally in the middle of a sentence, he kind of just wandered off. It was so awkward! Seriously? WHAT IS IT WITH THAT? Anyway, who should wander by while we're sitting there but ROBIN!? We got his attention, and he came over, and we gave him much hugs and chatted for a while. He was staffing the gaming room of course. XD We had very much missed him, so it was nice to see him.

Sooo to kill more time, we decided, after a conversation about how parking is actually free on the first few levels of the deck, to drive off the convention venue for a while. And where else would we go but...good ol' Barnes and Noble. =-_-= I love showing up to my place of work in the most over-the-top ridic outfits. But anyway, Kamil and Caitlin were working, so we were chatting with them for a while. We also got much coffees. And I grabbed my paycheck while we were there. XD

Then, when the time for the dance party drew close, we returned to the con. When we got there, the concert was still going on, so we caught the tail end of that. XD ...And then the band stuck around for quite a while, causing the dance party to start horrendously late. We were actually waiting in line for it like 40 minutes after it was supposed to start. At a 12:45 they started letting us in... (Thing was supposed to start at 11:30 =x_x=). We were about to give up on it, but we decided to dance for a little while. I got right into it. XD Random teenage girls were dancing with me, and they gave me a glow stick. XD And then I spotted this girl from Artist Alley who liked my outfits, so I danced with her and her friend for a while, too. :D There was a guy throwing water on us... XD

After growing tired, we decided to once again bounce.

Tomorrow is Sunday, and Halloween, so I will likely write more about the convention and holiday tomorrow. XD For now...goodnight!

NYCC 2010!

It's 10/10/10 at 10pm.

Time to update this thing!

So, New York Comic Con/Anime Festival was this weekend! It was pretty much the best weekend ever, and I'm sad for it to be over, but here's the rundown:

Friday:
Got up early, got into my Impulse costume (partially). I wore it on the Friday because it was not my best costume. In fact, it was my worst costume XD since the other one was lolita/costume (and very cute) and the other was simply lolita (not a costume, despite what unwitting complimenters thought =-_-=). Jess was dressed as Gorilla Grodd. XD

Jess and I drove to Jersey City to the Path, which was an adventure as neither of us had ever done the Path from there before (I had from Harrison, way back when, with my mom. lol Not much experience to go on there). Anyway, we parked, and then we had superfuntimez trying to figure out how to take the Path train. XD How does I Path train? After we finally got it down, we met Jen in the city and grabbed some huge salads to have for lunch later. Then we were off to con! I was nerd-followed once. By a guy. :| He was nice, but whyyyy do awkward nerds think it's ok to just follow and talk to me? *sigh*

So, returning to the Impulse-costume-that-didn't-turn-out-that-great theme. It attracted way more attention than I thought it would! Many people wanted my picture and even noted that they understood who I was supposed to be. Flash cosplayers stopped me for pictures with them. XD Girls stopped me, fangirled, and chatted with me about Young Justice. XD It was boss. Although the Jay Garrick that I stopped for a photo thought I was Jesse Quick because I had boobs. =>_>= Impulse =/= Jesse!

So at this con, I was all about the signings. I had them all scheduled in my Blackberry. I first went to get Mark Waid to sign a comic I had picked up from the boxes in the sales booths. He understood my costume and liked it. XD I was so floaty after that moment.

I hit up the dealer's room like a madwoman. Got me some BABY stuff from the Kinokuniya booth. :)

I ran into some people I knew, also. Good ol' Montclair people like Kevin, Bobby, and Eric. And random people I know from the internet, like JayEll. XD Met some cute lolitas as well even though I wasn't in lolita that day (my huge Meta glitterbag was a dead giveaway).

Hm, basically Friday was full of shopping and wandering. XD I visited the NYAF Artist Alley (which was separate from the NYCC Alley) and bought some cute lolita stuff, too.

When the day was winding down, Jess and I got some Starbucks (Grodd sipping coffee lol) and were going to sit down on some random floorspace by bag check and meet up with Jen when she was out of a panel. So we did, but Jess went off to the bathroom to change her clothes, and I stayed with all our stuff. While sitting there, I was noticed and asked for more pictures by a few people.

I'll set this story aside for a second to mention that I know a few comic writers and artists by their names and their work, but I have no idea what any of them look like, which makes going to signings a bit awkward. ("Is that him? I think that's him. Oh, no, the sign says it's Some Other Guy... Oops." Yeah.)

SO. While I was sitting there, another guy came by and asked me for a picture. I stood up as usual and got ready to pose, and the guy said to me, "I used to draw for Impulse!" and I looked at the guy taking the picture, who then said, "This is Humberto Ramos; he used to draw Impulse!" THEN I spazzed like an idiot, not sure whether to continue with the picture or hurriedly find some random scrap in my purse for him to sign. XDDDD In the end, I wound up posing and then fawning for a few seconds. I was Adventure Time spaghetti arms flailing in happiness (and this is when Jen had shown up, and she was looking at me from bag check like "wtf?"). THEN as we were leaving, Mr. Ramos caught me again and asked for another picture, this time on his iPhone so he could tweet it. XD And he did! With the caption "I found my child!!"

But the story doesn't stop there! Tune in to Saturday for more on this. XD

After we left the convention center, we went to Chipotle and got it to go. Then we ate it on the steps around Madison Square Garden before saying goodbye to Jen, who was taking the train home.

Jess and I returned to the hotel and watched the end of Jennifer's Body before crashing.

Saturday:

Saturday morning, we got up and got into Day 2 of costumes (I was a lolita version of the Flash, aka my scarlet Angelic Pretty JSK with a red polo under it, a funfoam Flash symbol on my chest, yellow rainboots, red leggings, and some random lightning bolt accessories with a red beret). Then we were joined at the hotel by none other than our Jenny P! She was dressed as River Tam from Firefly/Serenity. :) That day, Jess was dressed as one of the minions from Despicable Me (which was adorable btw).

We all got stuck in traffic on the way to the Path station. XD But eventually, we got there (YAY!) and took the Path once again into the city. We grabbed some breakfast and lunch for later at this little bistro on the way. They had pomegranate seeds. Mmmmmmm. Then we walked our way over to the Javits Center again. :) Jenny P had to pick up her badge, so Jess and I went a-wandering. After picking up Ms. P, we back to Artist Alley, and I hunted down Mr. Ramos's table. I intended on asking for an autograph and, if he had time, a quick (key word there: quick!) sketch. I found his table, as he was telling the guy in front of me that he was all booked for commissions. I waffled, but I thought I'd ask for a quick sketch anyway (worst he could say was "No, I'm all booked.") So I walked up, clarified that I was the Impulse from yesterday (probably was hard to recognize me without the huge 60s sunglasses and half-assed costume), and he said he remembered me. So I asked if I could have an autograph and maybe a quick sketch, and he nodded. I handed him a piece of cardboard from the back of one of my comics XD. And he started to sketch. And sketch. And sketch. And shade. And shade. And make corrections. And then he picked up one of his artbooks and tore the wrapping off, flipped to the page with an Impulse print, signed it (with XOXO), and handed it to me with my sketch. I stared at him, and he said, "For you." <33333 He just gave it to me! For being a dedicated fan of a character that he had once drawn for. <3333 I was floored. What a nice guy!!! I couldn't believe how amazing that was. It made my convention. Completely!

Guys, I can't do this in order, I just don't remember what happened when. XD But at some point Jenny P and I took a break and sat to watch Star Trekkin, which is an improv group who does improvised Star Trek episodes. It was hilaaaarious!!! I love improv. They were great, so you should check them out if you get the chance. XD

Lots of people liked Jess's costume, which was awesome. XD She got a bunch of pictures taken. People seemed to like mine, too, though I was called many different things (Lolita Flash, Lady Flash, THE Flash, etc). XD Everyone seemed to think it was a cute costume.

While resting up in the Anime Artist Alley, a tiny boy dressed as the Flash walked by and was staring at me through crowds of people as he walked. I smiled and waved at him, and he waved back. XDDDD EPIC CUTE MOMENT. <333

So, Saturday I realized that, since I had gotten one of the planned signatures (Waid) already, I could actually go back for another one, and that Danny might appreciate one. :) So I was all set to buy another random Flash comic written by Waid to give to Danny, but then I realized that I had my Funco Flash plushy with me (part of my costume sorta lol). It hit me that I could have Mr. Waid sign that and give Danny the comic from the day before! :D So I did. Again, Mr. Waid appreciated my costume (though I have no idea if he remembered me from Friday lol). I'm also pretty sure I was the first person to ask him to sign a plushy. XD He was very careful with it and even drew me a Flash symbol next to his name. <3

I also met Gail Simone! She signed my Birds of Prey issue -- right over Barbara's chest. XD I think she did it on purpose.

Saturday I also started my Impulse collecting. I bought 22 issues (not in order) for about $16. lol Rooting through boxes, hooray! I had planned on buying more, but I couldn't carry much more! However, I did also buy an issue of Young Justice, which I will mention later. :D

Jenny P found her Serenity booth on Saturday. XD They basically just had a bunch of Serenity-related things, and Jenny P bought her new favorite t-shirt. And also, they were giving all of the proceeds to a charity that the cast is involved in, so that was super awesome.

I met malicemizer_luv :). She looked very cute in her AP and all decked out in sweets jewelry and accessories! It's always nice to meet people.

Saturday was crooooowded. I look back now and realize I couldn't really see or do much because there were too many damn people! =x_x= I got to do the stuff I wanted to do, though, so that was good.

After we left the con, it was time for dinner again. We went to Five Guys, which was crowded with more con nerds, and we had to swoop up a table as soon as someone would leave. XD It was kind of funny.

Sunday:

This morning! We woke up and checked out of the hotel. Today I was going to be wearing my Wonder Cookie replica skirt with a BABY cutsew (normal clothing...for me). Jess was going to be a Pokemon Professor, and Jenny P wore her new favorite t-shirt. XD We went to Dunkin Donuts right next to our hotel and then hopped the Path train once again! Hit up the bistro to grab lunch for later. :)

Upon arriving, we went back to Anime Artist Alley. The line for the fashion show was forming. I had decided not to go, because since Sunday was a short day, I wanted to spend as much time on the floor as I could and didn't really want to sit still! But, waiting in line was none other than Scout and Nicole (and a third lolita, whose name I didn't know)! They looked very nice in their loli. We chatted and got some pictures together, and it was nice to see them. :) Also in line were Katie Lynn and James who I also haven't seen in forever!

Then we went back to Comic Con Artist Alley, because we still had some tables we wanted to spend time at and possibly get autographs (I was quite content with my con experience at this point, so any extra starstruck moments would have been icing on an already delicious cake).

I saw archfaith and her friend, whom I had also chatted with briefly on Friday (and I feel like a jerk because I forgot her username and wanted to add her =x_x=). They were both very nice and looked beautiful! We took some pictures, and they invited me to hang out with them, which made me very happy! But I was too busy star-chasing. XD

First we went to the Tiny Titans table (where Art Baltazar was signing) and had him draw us quick Tiny Titans characters. XD Jenny P got a Nightwing (with a disco pop collar), Jess got Coach Lobo, and I got Kid Flash. He colored them with crayons! <3

My tentative plan was to also try to get Todd Nauck at his table (which is why I bought the YJ issue!) and get his signature, but he hadn't been there any of the times I happened by his table earlier in the weekend, so I wasn't hoping for much. But it was 1pm, and the sign said he'd be back at 2, so...we proceeded to kill an hour in Artist Alley. Which was actually easy since we didn't get to see much the first two days (Friday was hectic with shopping and excitement, Saturday was too damn crowded). So we browsed and admired and purchased (in some cases). Then it was time for me to stand around waiting for Mr. Nauck. XD Which I did, and I told him that his version of Impulse was the first I ever encountered, and it was what made me fall in love with him (which is true since I read Young Justice before I actually read Impulse). He was very appreciative and took the time to ask my name and chat me up a little. I had him sign my comic, and I also spotted a YJ print in his book, so I bought one of those and had him sign that, too. He was really nice! <3

After that, my con was basically finished. I did some more shopping (managed to snap up Impulse #1 for reasonably cheap) and wandering and pictures of and for people. :) It's also worth mentioning that Sunday of Comic Con is always Kids' Day, so there were naturally lots of adorable children dressed as superheroes. XD I made it a point to say hi to them and address them as whatever character they were. The little Beast Boy was cute. XD But I think the tiny Deathstroke wins Kids' Day. Either that or the tiny Kick Ass and Hit Girl (what are they doing watching that movie anyway!??).

So, with that, Sunday wound down, and sadly, so did Comic Con. :( Sigh. But it was a great weekend, and I definitely have many great memories of it. <3 And inside jokes such as BEE-BOO, NYAF being like the Troll Market from Hellboy 2, making fun of people with Free Hugs signs, and endless jokes about Creepy Uncle Geoff.

And, because it's fun, here are the tweets from the weekend. XD In order from most recent to least.

Lolita Mini-Meet

On Saturday, I had a lolita mini-meet with bloodyxbaroness, her friend Cassandra, and Jess :D. We went to Bridgewater Mall and ran amok for a while, and then we saw Despicable Me, which is soooo cute, and I need to see it again. XD Anyway, here are some pictures we took in Love Sac. XD

( Love Sacs, while having a dirty name, also cause our skirts to lift up to reveal our petticoats. =>_>= SCANDALLLUUU!!!!1Réduire )

Also, this picture doesn't belong anywhere else, but I randomly dressed up one day to go shopping with Jess, and this is what I looked like. :D

AnimeNEXT Picture post

Yeah...I know it's almost a month late. =>_>= Buuuut I get lazy with pictures. Anyways! There are dolls, lolita, and cosplay alike! A nerdfest to be had by all. <3

It was so much fun, and I want to go back. :(

AnimeNEXT 2010!

I returned home from AnimeNEXT 2010 a few hours ago, and now I am super clean and clear of con funk. :DD :D J/k, I'm pretty sure I wasn't that dirty, but...some people were. =-_-=

This year, instead of getting a hotel room, since we live 20 minutes from the place, Jess offered to drive us to and from, so we stayed in her basement. Hotel Hobbit! A charming vacation in the Hobbit Hovel.

I've noticed that my con experience has changed a lot over the years, especially since last year when Jess and I started attending as Artists instead of Attendees. Like last year, I didn't find myself at many panels or official con events. But I did what I always do -- lots of shopping! And sitting at the table and selling things, of course. But yeah, shopping. :D And then there were the events that were arranged just by the people attending the con, like the doll meetups and the lolita picnic, both of which were fun! Unlike in previous years, I didn't have a cosplay (not even a half-assed one), because, well, I figured since I have acquired a massive amount of lolita since last year, I might as well wear lolita every day. :D Soooo I did. And the weird/frustrating thing is that I found myself getting more compliments on the Bodyline dresses than on my BABY. =>_>= Not that Bodyline is bad (God knows I love it), but it's just...funny. XD My $30 dresses vs my $150 dress. Yeah.

Unlike previous years, I also bought a lot more art and a lot less, um, useless crap. LOL Maybe because I'm not really "into" any animes. I still like anime, but I don't really consider myself part of any current fandom trends. So there's no one I want to buy plushies or keychains of, really. And my art is all of my fun little quirky fandoms, or just art that I happened to like that is not really associated with fandom. I also commissioned my first drawing this convention. :D I'd never done it before, but people were commissioning Jess, and I was like, "Hmmm, I can pay someone to draw an awesome picture of basically anything? Sweet!" I didn't know what I wanted drawn or who I wanted to draw it, though. However, during one of my strolls through Artist Alley, I bought a Heart Gold/Soul Silver print from these girls, and they were very happy, because apparently I was the first person to buy a print from them! I bought it basically because I love Gold and Silver (and SilverXGold :DDDDDDD), so Jess suggested that I get a commission of the two of them, so...I wound up commissioning those same girls. =^_^= They drew me a cutesy holding hands picture of them, and I love it. <3

It was really a lot of fun this year because I found that I knew a LOT of people! Whether it was from past cons (past Artist Alleys), internet communities, or outside of the anime genre entirely (lol people from Montclair/Old Bridge/East Brunswick Mall), I knew a lot of people. :D And I also met a lot of new people, too, like our table mates who sold lots of very pretty art, jewelry, and buttons. I finally got some girl/girl pride buttons to wear around, because I just don't show enough pride. And I chatted with a few of the other artists who were very nice, and now I feel I've made some friends for next year as well. :) And I'll be stalking them on Deviant Art, so we can stay in touch. lol

Just some highlights from this year:

-There was a guy in a towel running around. We're preeeeeeeeetty sure he had shorts on underneath, but it was still incredibly disturbing (especially being that he was very unattractive).

-We tried so hard to go to the raves, but they were both so packed! For the Friday one, Jen and I just sat outside at the picnic tables and looked into the glass wall at the dancers. There was this group of guys dancing in the window at us, and we were unimpressed.

-I finally learned wtf Vocaloid is and who those characters are I've been seeing everywhere. :D

-Yugioh GX revival! There were multiple GX cosplay groups, and one of them was sitting around in the Doubletree lobby dueling. It wasn't part of a photoshoot... They were just dressed as Yugioh characters and playing Yugioh to pass the time. It was beautiful. <3

-Aladdin! There was this dude dressed as Aladdin with a stubbed Abu on his shoulder. But the best part was that this guy seriously looked and sounded like Aladdin. He had the hair, the face (nose especially), and his voice was so much like Aladdin's. I like to think his friends told him he looks and sounds like Aladdin, so he should dress as him. Because he does, and he should.

-Dude dressed as Tony Stark. Not as Iron Man -- as Tony Stark. XD

-Last year, I told Jess that Hetalia was going to be big (man, I called that one), so I told her she should make joke prints of countries, not characters -- actual landmasses, humping each other. So she did. She got three commissions on them this weekend, and the girl who ordered them was SO EXCITED. SO EXCITED! I was amazed at how excited she was to see land masses humping.

There will be another post, of course, with pictures. :D But for now, that's all I have to say.

Lolita journal

I wore lolita todayyyy. It's been a while. XD But I finally got to try out my clip-in bangs <3, and I received my BABY Cherry Pink Snow Dot OP in the mail a few days ago, so I wore that. :D The headbow is the detachable bow from the dress, just attached to a ribbon and then tied around/clipped onto my head. XD Also, all the hair visible in these photos is fake. XD Yaaaaaaay.

OMG, I was there, too. ^_^ Didn't have a great time, but it was ok. I thought there should have been more anime stuff, but over all, the experience was cool.
