Survey about use of Marijuana, Ecstacy & Mushrooms May. 19th, 2011 @ 01:02 pm
seekofdescry

NOTE FROM LEE & MEGAN: This survey is for Megan's college paper on use of the drugs listed. Because of her lack of experience, she wants OUR opinions on OUR events. She will not use last names in the paper at all, and will only use first names if you allow her to. She lives in Southern California. And has been a long time best friend since before most of you even met me (Lee) lol. So I trust her more than anyone with this information. Feel free to skip questions if you prefer, but try to answer to the best of your ability. If you feel you can't answer, try to provide a reason why you feel it is inappropriate, or hard to answer. This survey will probably take some time to consider, but it should also be fun! We can't wait too long for results though! So if you could copy & paste this into a blank email, & return the survey to Megan's, or my email addresses by Friday evening or Saturday afternoon at the very latest, it would be a huge, huge help! If you feel you want to ask a friend to also do the survey, FEEL FREE! Just get them their own copy of this survey document. Feel free to ask Lee to send them one if you wish as well. The more results the better!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
- Lee & Megan

Terence McKenna : Psychedelics cause people to ask questions Aug. 24th, 2008 @ 06:03 pm

It is very hard to accurately determine  how I would have turned out differently had I never taken any psychedelics, or even if I had embarked on a psychedelic journey just one time, then never did so again.

While I may never know for sure, I can say that I think my life would have been far less interesting had I not become an avid explorer of psychedelic realms.  I do not believe I would have became as centered and integrative as I am now.  I seriously doubt I would be as happy today as I am now.

I can further say that people I have known who did not prepare themselves for a psychedelic journey seemed not to get very much out of it, and may even have caused themselves long-term harm.  Using psychedelics a a party drug seems to eventually lead to serious bad trips which one does not recover from easily.  I have met many acid burnouts over the years.  Some even became Xian fundamentalists fearful of everything not directly connected to their peculiar tunnel vision mythology.

        Tim Leary spoke of Set-&-Setting.

For me, I set myself up to have beneficial psychedelic experiences by studying and practicing magickal philosophy for about a decade before I first tripped.  My mind was imbued with perceiving thru the lens of magick.   I had a vocabulary with which was able to relate all phenomena thru many different mythological perspectives.  I had worked to be able to remember and interpret my dreams.  I had read books by those who had gotten a lot out of psychedelic experiences.  I had an understanding of non-normal non-linear reality long before my fist trip.

For me, setting entailed either solitary tripping at home, or tripping with others who were as serious about internal explorations as I was.   I never tripped in public, at a concert, or with people who used psychedelics as a party drug for about a decade.  Until I was firmly connected to the psychedelic state, I sure did not need distractions from people who could easily undermine my psychedelic journey.  After I had been tripping for about a decade, I could then trip at dance clubs and not get messed up by all the alcoholic idiots, sexual predators, and others flushing their lives down the toilet.  I could connect with people (tripping or not) who had interesting energies, while simply tuning out those who would have bummed me out had I tripped with them 5 or more years earlier.

When I was a young man, many people more experienced than I informed me that if I planned to trip with shroom that I needed to contact a spirit guide who was both wise and string enough to help me thru any bad trips.   I just found an image of a spirit guide which strikes me as someone useful to contact.

Were it not for psychedelics, I would not have nearly as interesting perspective as I do now.  Were it not for taking psychedelics, many many times, with others on a similar path within settings conducive to meta-reprogramming, I seriously doubt I would be able to handle transitions and changes in my life & perspective that I can do now, without the need to trip.  Magick, community, and psychedelics enabled me to integrate real metareprogramming changes.   Tripping is still useful, but at my age and state of health, tripping is hard on my body, so I no longer do it much.   Also, I am no longer a part of a community which trips together, shares magickal space, and works thru barriers to evolution and growth.

Below link from adayinthelife.   Link below takes you to a really excellent historical comic on entheogen use for spiritual growth.  I highly recommend this comic, both to those on the path of entheogenic metareprogramming, and for those who are entheogen-curious.

Listing illegal interests can get a journal suspended

It appears that SixApart has a policy of suspending any journal which has any illegal activities listed as an interest, if someone files a complaint about it. Quoting from ataniell93's journal:

Material which can be interpreted as expressing interest in, soliciting, or encouraging illegal activity places LiveJournal at considerable legal risk. When journals that contain such material are reported to us, we must suspend them. Because LiveJournal's interests list serves as a search function, and because listing an interest enables other people also interested in a similar topic to gather and/or congregate, we have been advised that listing an interest in an illegal activity must be viewed as using LiveJournal to solicit that illegal activity.

...

We recognize that many people list these types of interests for shock value, as a method of expressing opposition for these illegal activities, or to indicate fictional activity [emphasis added; RPG journals have been suspended because of this]. Unfortunately, the Abuse team does not have any discretion in these cases; if a journal profile contains interests that support illegal activity, we must suspend the journal.

So, if as a fan of horror fiction in general, or Lovecraft in particular, you have listed an interest which would be illegal in real life, you might want to remove them. You have to be reported first, but if someone with too much time on their hands and too little brains in their skull thinks that your "sacrificing humans to Cthulhu" interest means that you're a threat to the children, then bye-bye journal.
