I guess this counts :-D I am making a paper sphere as part of my homework project. Yesterday I cut out all the large pieces and covered them in Cricut vinyl (yes, you can hand cut with it). I was going to assemble it today, but then I realized I should assemble a small model first to get the hang of it. It is a little tricky--there is a top and bottom with eight rings and twelve segments.
I cleared out a small box from the office. The contents were from the kid bag that hasn't been used since the kids have been home from school, and I have no idea why that stuff was in my office. All the stuff got put away!
In the afternoon I took a little time away from home to take some nature photos, BY MYSELF. I'll link when I have them up. It was really nice to get out alone outside that wasn't a trip to the grocery store.
Day 9
I actually worked on the cross stitch WIP mystery stitch-a-long that was supposed to be done last year.
Day 10
I worked some more on the above-mentioned WIP. First I discovered that I had just too many loose threads on the back that needed to be clipped, because they kept catching on my working thread. So, I clipped 'em!
And then, worked some more catch-free stitches!
Day 11
My kids have been using headphones where I've recovered the speakers with heavy fleece because the foam had disintegrated, but they still found the headphones too hard. Today, I took the covers apart on one to add some foam (a reuse from a package I received recently). The kid pronounced it cushy, so I did the other side. Sometime later this week, I need to add foam to the pair the other kid is using.
Also, I made some vegan and gluten-free Peanut Butter Banana Blondies. I had some bananas the HAD to be used, but not enough eggs, and I was tired of the same old banana bread. This turned out different than I expected, but it was good (though the kids say that it's not their favorite, and it's not as good as my banana bread).
Yesterday was a fun day--I spent three HOURS chatting and crafting with one of my friends who lives in another time zone. I can't believe the time flew by so fast. She sewed while I tried to get my knitting machine up and running with a new project to show her how it worked. I'm still a newbie with the Ultimate Sweater Machine, but eventually I'll make a sweater! It was just so much fun to talk to someone other than hubs :-D I have tried Zooming with the craft club, but it's so large it's just too chaotic.
This past week has been really busy, and I've managed only a little time daily on the kiwi, and nearly all of it has been confetti stitches, and I thought it kind of boring to take individual pics of so little, so you get nearly a week's worth in one picture.
Tomorrow, I'm having a root canal, and I asked for sedation this time, so I don't know if I'll get any crafting done. Wish me luck!
Was too exhausted to craft yesterday but I got back to it today, and I finished the fourth and final of the quilts for my curtains!
The only major mishap today was I realized after I'd sewn it in that one of the squares was too big so I tried to cut it down and I ended up making it jagged--dammit! It's this synthetic stretchy fabric I got at a flea market, like a few of the other squares, and I'm having a really hard time working with that stuff. I'm definitely sticking to cottons from now on.
I love this Washington-themed fabric I got at my neighborhood fabric store a few days ago:
Also I forgot to post but on Monday I started knitting the purse my friend and I are both knitting right now. I've only done a few rows so far cos my priority is finishing these curtains right now, but at least I started. It requires a few techniques I haven't done before and I hope I'm doing them correctly. Sometimes it's hard trying to teach yourself things all by yourself. Can anyone recommend an active knitting community here on LJ?
I apologise for being a bit absent. I've been dealing with some chronic pain issues coupled with a very busy schedule. I've been able to make some time for crafting, but not posting. Anyway, to the pictures!
Day 9 I had a beading meetup and I beaded! I made a pair of earrings to match an existing necklace.
This is my attempt at beaded spider earrings. This was my fourth attempt. It got much bigger than I expected. I'll finish this, but I don't like it enough to make another.
Day 10-11 I worked on filling in all those little holes in The Sorceress.
Day 12 I started to work on The Sorceress, and decided to start a new color. I ended up picking the wrong color, had trouble pulling out the color, and then lost my needle, so I gave up for the day.
Thanskgiving was busy, but I managed to get some crafting in. I photographed models for my latest SVG cutting file on Etsy and costed out materials for a new Christmas card. It snowed and it was kind of a lazy day!
I had people over today, so I didn't have much time after the baking and cleaning. I did have time to make the second star for the bead weaved earrings.
I also went looking for a crystal to put in the middle. I finally found one that was the right combo of red, purple, blue and copper. The closest I found was a burgundy Swarovski crystal, which is old enough that the newer Swarovski crystals look to be a different color, if I have to replace what I have. Meh.
Another lovely weekend of sewing - apart from the time spent playing my sport on Saturday. The weather was lovely today, so I spent a couple of hours sewing in the garden, which is the first chance I've had this spring to do so.
Adrift - 11/10/14
Adrift - 12/10/14. I'm about half-way through the boring grey bit at the bottom, as I've reached the white pattern in the middle.
The last time I posted I said that it had been a Day. Now, I believe it's been a WEEK!
So, on Days 8 and 9 put together, I might have made my 25 stitch per day goal if i squinted at it. I did about 10 stitches today and then needed new thread. I discovered that I had mixed up my symbols and I had been stitching the dark avocado green in where I should have been stitching one of the 5 kinds of yellow in this design! Arrrrrrrrg!
So, I had to pull out all the avocado green. Meh.
I've started to put avocado green in where it actually belongs!
