The was no Day 17. After a couple nights of little and bad sleep, I couldn't concentrate on anything well enough not to make it worse.
Day 18
I felt better. I got all my polymer clay stuff in one place! (and then I found the clay roller after I took the picture.
I also got some stitching done on the SaL.
Day 19
I tackled some more of the mess on my office desk and floor. Some got put away, some got put in a box to get put away later. I can see the top of my desk again! (no pic, because it got dark by the time I got a round tuit)
The twins' birthday was this past weekend along with their school's Fall Fest, and I was too busy and too tired to post.
Day 18
I washed all the fabric for K's costume to be...
...and made two dozen allergen-free cupcakes for the Fall Fest (not pictured)
Day 19
I did some stitching at the Fall Fest...
...And made some very quick earrings for my kids' morning birthday present (like stockings at Christmas, K said)...
...And baked a double batch of brownies (for Coffee Hour at church on Sunday), a single batch of brownies for F's cake, and a double-layer yellow cake for K's cake (not pictured).
Day 20
I frosted F's cake...
...and then I frosted K's cake...
...For my kids' birthday present from my Mom, we went to a ceramic painting place, and the kids painted "sugar" skulls, and I put another layer of paint on the black lines of my bowl...
...And then when I collapsed after dinner, I put a few more stitches into the #MadXStitchalong...
Day 21
I took the kids to the park after school and went to work some on the Stitchalong, and discovered that I'd put in an extra 2 rows WAY UP THERE, and had to frog a bunch, and then just could not face any more...
I'm still knitting! I hope to post a couple of pictures soon. One ball of yarn is used up and I'm halfway through another. I didn't realize until I counted on a calendar that I spent a solid three weeks being sick, so I tried to do as little as possible this weekend.
I watched:
Real Detective
Forensic Files
Nailed It
Mean Girls
Riverdale
Clueless
I had never watched Mean Girls or Clueless before. I was quite a serious teenager, but now I can enjoy these a little more now, LOL.
Day 20 - My twins birthday! We had the family birthday celebration, and I spent the morning baking their cakes and a double batch of brownies for their School Fall Fest. I forgot to take a picture of the pristine cakes; this picture is after 10 people attacked them.
Day 21
Day 22
I didn't get much done today because I've come down with a nasty cold.
I prodded the girls into finishing the Halloween ornaments, and I sat down and sewed 18 goodie bags from a sheet in my stash; it's almost the school colors.
Day 19
I finished the last three goodie bags, and hemmed the remaining fabric already cut out to make napkins. I used nearly a whole spool of thread on this project!
And then I put together all the goodie bags. These are the ones for my girls.
Today, I started sewing on the messenger bag. I didn't get far. I spent most of the afternoon trying to figure out why my bobbin tension was so awful, just to find a couple small fragments of thread from projects past caught in the bobbin carriage and thread plate. It took way too long to get them out, but now my machine is humming along like it should. I gave the buckles and D-rings their bit of web to connect them to the bag later on, and was working on the glitter mesh pockets when it was time to put it up for dinner. I want to work on all the mesh before I have to switch to a needle fit for the heavier fabric the rest of the bag is made out of. I had hoped to get the whole outer layer done, but that was...very optimistic of me. Maybe I'll get this thing put together in a week? ( What I Sewed TodayCollapse )
Not a lot of progress on Adrift today - signups for Yuletide went live today, so my stitching time tonight was devoted to working out what I wanted to ask for / offer for that. :)
Adrift - 20/10/14. Pic's a bit blurry, it's late & I'm tired... :)
Xmas Trio - 20/10/14. Started the backstitching today, the mouse is getting close to be finished!
Today I put the paper clay in the sugar skulls molds that I bought as a kit from ClothPaperScissors at Interweavestore.com. I also filled the silicon ice mold that I bought at a local grocery store (and is carried at DollarTree and The 99 cent Store).
I couldn't get the molded clay out of the plastic sugar skull molds, so they will dry where they are. I got one of the skulls out of the silicon mold, but it changed shape enough that I'll wait until they are drier before getting them out. Of course, I didn't use any type of mold release. Live and learn. ;)
Of course, the clay has to be completely dry before I can decorate the skulls, so this is yet another thing I've started that won't be finished for a while.
Today, I baked and frosted three cakes for my twins' birthday party, which is tomorrow. The cakes and frosting were made from scratch. One is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, one is yellow cake with classic buttercream frosting, and one is a marble cake (though I think it went mostly chocolate) with both kinds of frosting.
We're expecting about 30 people! Crazy! (I have a contingency banana cake in the freezer just in case...)
I also managed to work quite a bit on the pistachio green in the cross stitch today, despite being a cleaning fiend...
I declared this weekend our big push for halloween. Crazy stuff. I've decided that I'm going as Lady Night and making a moon mask.
The underlayer is plaster, and we'll see tomorrow how well this paper mache clay I got works for smoothing and making craters. It's going to be a fingernail moon, so most of the mask will be black anyway. I have lots of paint and glitter to finish it. I've never used the plaster strips before. They're fun and easy! I tend to design on the fly with masks. I can't wait to see what happens.
Yesterday i really didn't craft. I was over at a friend's house working on Jewelry photos. Fun.
We got some better ones, but the photoshop format and I are having a disagreement.

This is just a picture. I didn't take it. But it was what I was thinking about all day.
Not much of a crafting day, since we were so happy playing and doing holiday stuffs. I did a couple of sketches and made some plans... Definitely didn't meet the week's challenge today.
This upcoming week I need to push the costumes. If they're not done by next sunday night, I'm going to Target and admitting defeat (or collecting something out of the play costumes, depending on what They say.)
And tomorrow I'll post a poll about the challenge for this week.
