映画【国宝】「おひるにしよ。」の重さ。｜The movie【KOKUHOU】The weight of "Let's have Lunch."

普段、邦画を全くと言っていいほど観ないわたし。
そんなわたしが、邦画を観るために映画館へ赴くだけで【侍タイムスリッパ―】以来の異例事態なのに…
映画【サブスタンス】以上に…。
書きたくて書きたくてしょうがない作品に出会った。
多分いつも以上に文章が、長くなるだろう…。

それが映画【国宝】。

映画のはなしの前に〈わたし〉の話

いつも冒頭にのちのち、この映画と関連してくるわたしのことを書いている。自己紹介がてら毎回文章を書くときのルーティン。

今、思えば料亭での贅沢な日々

関東に住んでいた頃。社会貢献活動に興味があり、当時としては珍しかった〈食育〉に力を入れていた料亭（お料理屋さんだけど舞妓さんや芸子さんが出張で来たりする、格式高い日本料理屋さんのこと）に就職したくて…

求人も出ていない京都の料亭に就職面接のアポを取り付けて、門をたたいたことがある。

大学生の間、インターン（そんな呼び名は料亭には存在しない）のような形でアルバイトをさせてもらった。そこで私はクローク係のような役割を与えてもらい…1年半ほど働いた。
そこには板前さんが20人ほど住み込みをしていて、同年代のお兄さんがひしめき合うように一等地にある5階建てくらい（だったと思う）の一軒家で暮らしていた。

同年代の女性はわたしくらいしかおらず…。放り込まれた（というか〈自ら〉放り込まれに行った）わたしは、いいおもちゃである。
「おい。勉強のためにココに食べに行くから一緒に行くぞ(今思えばどこも馬鹿高い…いいお店)」「住み込み部屋の屋上でバーベキューするぞ。お前も来い。」等。（プロが選んだ店、タダでプロが調理してくれるバーベキュー。贅沢極まりないことに当時は気づきもしていなかった。）休みの日も板さんの、お兄さんたちに沢山かわいがってもらった。

わたしは板前の修業中でも何でもないため《特別扱い》だったが、お兄さんたちの間には確実にヒエラルキーが存在し…。大将がその頂点で…半年前に入った子など響きは悪いが〈ゴミのような扱い〉をされることもある。
世間知らずの箱入娘のわたしだったが部活や金融業界の縦社会よりも、よっぽど厳しい世界のように当時は感じた。

それでも、日頃ゴミのような扱いを受けているような子達が一生懸命つくった〈賄い（まかない）〉は涙が出るほどおいしかったし…
わたしも仕事で落ち込むことがあれば、励ましてもらったり年上のお兄さんを励ましたりもした…。

幼少期のダンスと父の死

結局あんなに可愛がってもらった料亭には就職せず…（この辺の話はまた今度）社会人生活も慣れてきたころ、わたしはダンスを習い始めた。

幼少期、新体操を習っていたのだが…。9歳になりたての頃。父が亡くなった。　父の最期の手紙に

しかし新体操は3歳から始めたものの12歳まで。代わりにと12歳で始めたバトントワリングも14歳で辞めてしまった。

それ以来10年以上ずっと父の最期の手紙が心残りでいた。そんな日々を過ごす中で社会人何年目か、関西でついにダンスを習い始めることが出来たのだった。

社会人になってダンスを始めて2年半ほどたったころ。関西のとあるキャバレー（観客は自ら呼ぶため通常営業ではない貸し切りの日時）で踊ることになった。

とても豪華で重厚感のある場所で幼い頃、父から手紙を受け取った日にはこんな場所で自分が踊る日が来るなんて思いもしなかった。

父は3年ほどの闘病の末の、病死だった。25年ほど前の当時としては珍しく《母の希望で》自宅で父を看取った。
父が亡くなった後…。グリーフケア（＝死別で遺された人のケア）の過程でわたしに沢山の死別を経験した同年代の子に会う機会が訪れる…。

家族であっても他人と《死別の経験を人と比べることはできない》ことが大前提だが…。長い闘病の末の病死と、突然死・事故死・自死・他殺では受け入れる心の準備の過程に違いはあると、思わざるおえない場面が多々あった。

呉服関係の人、京都人の祖母…京都ならではの伝統が脈々と静かに流れるまち

ー京都の距離感ー

京都は街を歩けば「あら○○さん。こんにちは。」と声が何組も聞こえるような距離感だ。
関東出身のわたしには最初、驚きだった。

そんなことに驚いていたのは最初だけで、今となっては京都ならではの方々とお知り合いになる機会があり…。今も仲良くさせていただいている。ただし既に書いたように距離感が近いため、多少ぼやかして書くことをご了承いただきたい。

ー呉服関係の方に映画【国宝】について聞かれたー

京都に住んで数年。わたしが《映画を観るのが大好き》と知っている呉服関係の人に「【国宝】観た？」と公開数日で聞かれた。「先斗町の歌舞練場（ぽんとちょうのかぶれんじょう）がロケ地ということを知って…　観たいとは思っているんですけど…」と私が答えると「今宮神社も映っているらしいよ」と教えてくれた。

今宮神社と言えば縁結びの神様で有名で、あぶりもち屋が2件向かい合って並ぶ道は一度行ったことがある人なら忘れないはず。京都人は今宮神社と言われたら…あぶり餅と、あの参道が思い浮かぶだろう。
呉服関係の方が国宝を観たら、どんな感想を持つのだろう…。

ー京都生まれ京都育ちの祖母ー

祖母が京都人だったわたしは幼いころから「かぶれんじょう（舞妓さん芸子さんが集まって日中お稽古する場所。舞台にもなるところ。）」という言葉を連呼され…。「あぁ都をどりの時期（4月）やね」「鴨川をどりの時期（5月）やね」と聞かされ育ち、実際に何度も幼いころから舞妓さん・芸子さんの舞をみせてもらった。

こんな感じで、祖母はわたしの母も育てたのだろう。幼い頃から歌舞伎の舞台・狂言の舞台を、わたしにいくつも観せてくれた両親に感謝だ。

価値観と財産

観たもの口にしたものは〈わたし自身の価値観の構築の要素〉になり、《誰にも奪うことが出来ない財産》だ。

ネタバレなしの感想

長崎で余興に出演するのを楽しむ喜久雄　そんな彼の人生が一変

歌舞伎を知らない日本の古典芸能なんて興味ないそんな人でも楽しむことが可能
詳しい方は映る全てに目を奪われるはず
伝統を守る家系の重さか…画面の中は日本古来の色使いだからか…独特な空気感
いつの間にか引き込まれあっという間の上映時間(140字)

ネタバレありの感想

おなかすいたやろ。お昼にしよ。

関西の人の、ものの言い方。
（〈かわいいとおもう方言ランキング〉とかよく目にするが…〈イントネーションだけに特化した方言〉について言及したいわけではない。）

「おなかすいたやろ。おひるにしよ。」このセリフの前の段階で喜久雄に対して「あんたなんか極○もん。うちが受け入れるわけないやろ。」という話をしている…

この歌舞伎の家の女主人、幸子は喜久雄を少年院から連れてきた弟子が「旦那さんがそう…」と言った言葉の裏に（弟子の心の声：旦那さんの指示ですさかい。どうにもできしません。）という匂わせた心の声を掴んだ瞬間。
さすがは梨園の妻。秒の切り替えしをする。「おなかすいたやろ。お昼にしよ。」と唐突に語りちょっとこっちきなさいと手招きして奥へ消えていくのだ。それはもう光のような速さの切り替えだ。
（歌舞伎役者の妻たちのことを指して「りえんのつま」と呼ぶ）

その背景には…あきらめきって、（心の声：ここであんたらと話しててもらちあかへんし。）と、この先の《生涯ほぼすべて見通したうえで》の秒の切り返し。

「おなかすいたやろ。（心の声：あんたはんは、なんも悪くないしな。）お昼にしよ。（心の声：しゃーなし。とりあえずうちの旦那とは腹据えてもう一回話すけど、今のところはうちの家族に入れてあげるわ。）」が《お腹すいたやろ。お昼にしよ。》に込められているのだ。

この《瞬時に切り返す演技》をみせる寺島しのぶさん、ご本人は歌舞伎の家に生まれている。きっとこんな、やり取りを幼いながらに直接でも間接的にでも見聞きしたことがあったのではないか…
と、想像をかきたてられたシーンだった。

ちなみに関西に住んでいると唐突な「お昼にしよ。」的な、こんな言い回しがよくある。瞬時に言葉の裏を掴むことが出来ないと、会話どころか生活だっておいていきぼりにされる。

これを肌で教えてくれた、京都生まれの祖母には感謝でしかない。

ロケ地

1か月ほど前の映画【国宝】の公開日あたりだろうか…。インスタのスマホをスクロールしていると先斗町の花街のプロモーションで「先斗町歌舞練場（ぽんとちょうかぶれんじょう）が映画【国宝】に映っている」という投稿を見たのだった。

しかし実際に映画を観に行くと…それ以上だった。外観が映るとかそういうレベルではない。

わたしは仕込みさん(＝舞妓さんの前段階)でも、舞妓さんでも、芸子さん(＝舞妓さんを卒業すると芸子さんになる)でも…先斗町関係者ではないので…関係者入口も知らないし、大道具小道具が置いてある舞台裏も知らない。

でも確信した。きっと《ほぼすべて、本物だ》と。

それは南座で撮影されたと思われる楽屋風景のシーンだ。窓の外に見えるのは有名なレストランの外観。
CGだったのかもしれないが…。CGで窓に画像をはめ込んだとしても…。元になる風景の、あの画角はなかなか撮ることができないだろう。

映っていたシーンとほぼ同じ画角で風景が見える場所がある。
南座の隣の蕎麦屋〈松葉〉だ。にしんそばや、ゆり根うどんをよくいただくが…その時に見える風景のはるか上から(関係者)でないと見えない景色がバックに映り込む。

2枚目の写真のかなり上の方の窓の中から撮影しないと見えないはずの、レストランがほんの一瞬だが景色として映り込んでいた。

役者さんや関係者でないと普段見られない景色を《映画で》だとしても観ることが出来るなんて、なんと贅沢な映画だろうと思った。

それは歌舞伎のシーンでもそうだ。限られた役者のみ、それこそ血筋や血のにじむような努力をした者だけが観ることが出来る景色。それを映画【国宝】では贅沢すぎるほどに、ちりばめているのだ。わたしが気がついただけでも、先斗町歌舞練場・京都南座・多分東京の歌舞伎座等。舞台から観た観客のシーン・舞台の幕の内側・舞台装置・楽屋まで…歌舞伎のドキュメンタリー番組や密着取材でも、あんなに接近した絵は取れないだろう。

この場面場面を観た瞬間、それだけで観る価値がある映画だと思えた。

女の一人や二人、芸の肥やし。花街と歌舞伎の浮世話

京都に住んでいてびっくりすることの一つとして…。喫茶店等の常連になると「あそこに住んでる○○さん。何処どこの、おうちの二号さんだから。」とかいう話が「そういえば昨日、地震があったね」くらいの会話のトーンで聞こえてくるのだ。また実際に歌舞伎役者さんと芸子さんの浮世話も、聞いたことがある。

昔ながらの〈女の人を囲うくらいの財力や権力をもった人〉は、京都に愛人を作りがちなのかもしれない。もしくは、わたしが世間知らずなだけで…今となっては芸能人が大バッシングされたりするが…。京都に限らず、よくある話なのかもしれない。

「女の一人や二人。芸の肥やし。」という決まり文句、何度かドラマなどで聞いたことがあるが…。実生活で日常の中で聞くと空想が膨らみドキドキはらはらして喫茶店で珈琲やごはん等、楽しんでいる場合ではなくなる。

稽古という名のトレーニング

子役時代の喜久雄と俊介役の子たち…。並べてしまうと酷だけど…あの子何者？？？？と思わざるおえなかった。（もし俊介役の子が本当は上手だけどちょっと下手に舞っているなら、役者魂だ。）

最初の方の喜久雄が長崎のシーンで芝居と舞を披露する過程で〈つま先が浮く〉のを、わたしは見逃さなかった。伝統芸能で頭をブラすなんてことはもっての外。重心は常に下にある。そんな中で《つま先が浮く》なんて、そんなことある？と怪訝な表情になってしまった冒頭シーンがあった。

しかし、それも成長の過程をみせるための計画的なお芝居だった。「素人ですから」という親の前でやる見世物・余興と…
そもそも前帯でイナバウアー状態の見せ場をするだけでもすごいのに…。
長年稽古をつけてもらった後でのシーンを比べると《つま先が全く浮かない》そして、どんな体勢・どんな小道具を持っても体幹がブレない。

そして肩甲骨も師匠に強制されながらとはいえ、バレリーナ張りのポジションをとることが出来るのだ。
喜久雄役、俊介役、また後に登場する俊介の息子役の子ども時代を演じた3人とも日頃のメンテナンスと映画出演に向けて、つけた稽古のヘビーさを身体が物語っていた。

稽古のシーンは本当に〈すごかった〉し、身を乗り出すほどに引き込まれた。

そんな子供時代から成長して大舞台に挑むも緊張し、互いを励まし合う。そんな中で発せられる聞き逃してしまいそうなセリフ。「じゃ。花道で。」こんなセリフ言うのも言われることが出来るのは、ほんの一握りだ。
(花道は客席の間をわざと通るように作られた、長い通路のこと。両サイドには観客が見上げるようにして、まさにかぶりつきで演者を観ることができる。
演者の中でも花道を通ることが出来るのはスター級の役者のみ。)

しかし彼らは当たりまえすぎて、そんな《すごいこと》というような認識は目の前に必死でまるでない。特にこの家に生まれた俊介は幼いころから、これが当たり前の世界なのだ。

また住み込みで同じものを食べ、同じ時を過ごす2人だからこそ出来るチームワークもある。その信頼関係がなければ「あそこさらっとこうか(おらさい。復習しよう。)」と、言われたからと言ってすぐにだめなところを受け入れる。この年代の青年が喧嘩もせずに、なかなかできないことである。

このような男の子同士のやりとりは料亭に努めていた頃、まざまざと見せつけられる事が多かった。
大金をかけてプロスポーツチームが合宿をするのもうなずくことができる。

雪

冒頭、雪のシーン。ハリウッド映画とかB級映画でよくある映画の雪のシーン。泡を雪に見立てたような…。（映画サブスタンスでもチープな雪のシーンがあったように思う。）そんな安っぽい雪ではなかった。

本物なのではないかと思うほどの雪が降るシーン。で物語がスタートする。
「喜久雄。よお、みとけよ。」といったそのあと、喜久雄の目から魂が抜けていくのがわかった。
泣きたかったけど涙さえ出なかった。

そんな喜久雄が多くの年月を経て、かつての人間国宝が着ていた鷲娘の同じ衣装を身にまとい…ラストシーンを迎える。

ここでは冒頭のシーンと対比の様に見事な紙でできた紙吹雪。でももはや紙なんかに見えないのだ。

ところどころ映画の中にちりばめられた桜の花びらが舞うようなシーンが思い起こされる。

長年の稽古と曾根崎心中の「死ぬる覚悟が聞きたい」の稽古のような役への入り込みを、何度も経た役者がたどり着く境地。
年代物のお酒のように成熟しきった役者を、観客として幸せなことに観ることが出来たのなら…　

もはや観客としてではなく登場人物として、感情移入を超えて観ている方が作品に飲み込まれてしまうだろう。

父の生きざまをいやというほど見せつけられた映画の冒頭。
「敵をとれよ」といわれ、芸術の世界に心身ともにささげ経た年月。最初と最後の対比は圧巻だった。

娘の言葉　悪魔はんとの取引

映画【国宝】取材中のシーンの身のこなしは本物の歌舞伎俳優、玉三郎さんのインタヴューを観ているかのようだった。

ネタバレありの感想と言ってもあのインタビューシーンは軽々しく書くのもはばかられるほど…。
すごみがあったシーンだった。

あれだけの年月を経て、あのような形でしか再会できなくても…
思いを直接本人にぶつけられる娘。綾乃が、わたしはうらやましくてしょうがなかった。
劇場だから声は上げられなかったが…
きっと家で観ていたら…わたしは父が恋しくて声を上げて泣いたシーンになっただろう。

綾乃が「おとうちゃん」といって追いかけたのは今宮神社の道だけではなく、人生をかけて父の背中を追いかけていた。

おまけ

京都の世界　ー舞妓さん・芸子さんと四季ー

舞妓さん・芸子さんが舞を舞うのは、お茶屋と呼ばれる紹介制の社交場のみだ。しかし年に1度約1か月間。舞台上で舞を舞う舞妓さん芸子さんを一般の人でも見ることが出来る。

京都には舞妓さんの所属する大きなチームが5つある。いわゆる〈京都の五花街〉といわれ、京都のどこに置屋（主に舞妓さんが住み込む家）があるかによって呼び名が異なる。

開催時期も固定されているため《都をどり》は桜。《鴨川をどり》は藤。と、クライマックスのテーマは毎年決まっている。

一般のひとでもきものを着る時には四季を意識したコーディネートになるが…
舞妓さんの、さすかんざしは季節ごとによって異なる。（作る生地・手法は異なるが）そのかんざしのような手づくりの花をこれでもかと都をどりや、鴨川をどりでは舞台に装飾する。

四季を表現しクライマックスには当日出演の舞妓さん・芸子さんが総出数十人で、一糸乱れぬ舞を披露する。それはそれは圧巻だ。

通常五花街は別々でイベントを行うが、本当に貴重な五花街合同公演があることを社会人になって初めて知った。

わたしは絶対に行く！と決め、一番いい席しかも最前列の《南座》で合同公演を昨年観た。

芸を競い合って見せ合うような五花街同士の〈舞のバトル〉と言ってもいいだろう。しかし、ただ華美になるだけではなく、全体の舞台構成も考えられているため一つの作品として楽しむことが出来る。

ー都をどり、鴨川をどりを裏で支える小道具大道具職人ー
そんな京都ならではの舞台の小道具・大道具を扱う職人さんもありがたいことに知り合いにいる。そんな人から聞く日々の仕事のお話は楽しくてしょうがない。

そんな貴重な話を聞くことが出来る毎日。京都を離れたくない。こんな毎日を送ることが出来る日々に、感謝してもしきれない。

また大学生というスポンジみたいに吸収出来る時期に、料亭で体感したおもてなし。
本物の値がつけられないほどの掛け軸。幾度となく張り替えられる、い草の香りを放つ高級な畳。季節ごとの襖。毎日いけられる高価な季節の草花。
わたしが運んでいたお盆も、お茶(京都ではおぶと呼ばれる)のはいった、お茶碗だって高価なものだ。

ヒヤヒヤしながらであっただろうに、沢山の本物の中で働く機会を与えてくれた料亭の方々。本当にありがとうございました。

■後日追記■
この文章を書いたあと、南座の舞台ツアーと祇園花街ミュージアムに行った。
その時のことを書いている文章も良ければ読んで欲しい。

とってもチャーミングな名前でnoteに文章を書いている人がいた。わたしが大好きな監督の映画のファンのようだ。
そんな人がわたしの大好きなスターウォーズとかけた文章を上げていて、何気に嬉しくなってコメントをしたのだ。

その方の投稿にわたしが書いたコメントの、お返事が…。それも長文で。
(しかも私に確実に届くよう１つ前の映画【F1】の文章にも、コメントを残してくださった)
わたしの文章を沢山読んでくださったようだった。

この文章の推敲をしているところにお返事をいただいて…。「ちょっと身体を動かさないと…」と、思いカフェを出ようとしたところだった。
もう泣き崩れるのをこらえるのが大変なほど…。

本当にうれしかった。こんな出会いがあるのなら、わたしは文章を書くのを辞められないだろう…。

I came across a work that I was dying to write.

Before we talk about the movie, we talk about me.

Now that I think about it, the days of luxury at a Japanese restaurant

When I lived in Kanto. I was interested in social contribution activities, and I wanted to get a job at a Japanese restaurant (Although it is a restaurant, it is a Japanese restaurant which is a little more formal where Maiko and Geiko come on business trips.) that put a lot of effort into Shokuiku, which was rare at the time ...
I once made an appointment for a job interview at a Japanese-style restaurant in Kyoto that had no job openings.

While I was a university student, I had a part-time job as an intern (such a name doesn't exist in Japanese restaurants). So I was given a sort of cloakroom role ... and I worked there for about a year and a half.
There were about 20 cooks living there, and older men of the same age crowded into a five-story (I think) house in a prime location.

I was the only woman my age .... I was thrown in (or I went to be thrown in myself) and I was a good toy. "Hey. I'm going to eat here to study, so I'll come with you.""We'll have a barbecue on the rooftop of the live-in room. You come too," etc. (The restaurant chosen by professionals, the barbecue cooked by professionals for free. I didn't realize at the time that it was a luxury. Thank you so much ....) I was treated a lot by my older brothers on my days off.

I was treated as special because I wasn't training as a chef, but there was definitely a hierarchy among the older brothers .... Taisho is the pinnacle ... and sometimes children who entered six months ago are treated like garbage, although it sounds bad.I was a naive girl in a box, but at the time I felt that the world was much tougher than the vertical society of club activities and the financial industry.

Even so, the meals made by such children were so delicious that I could cry ...
When I was depressed at work, I used to get encouragement from my older brother ....

Childhood dancing and the death of my father

I didn't get a job at a Japanese restaurant after all ... (I'll talk about this next time) When I was getting used to my working life, I started learning dance.
When I was a child, I learned rhythmic gymnastics .... The last letter of my father, who died when I was a child, said, "Good luck with your studies. Keep rhythmic gymnastics if you can."

But I started rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 3, but not until I was 12. He also quit baton twirling, which he started at the age of 12 to replace him, at the age of 14.

For more than 10 years since then, my father's last letter has been regrettable. In my first few years of working in Kansai, I was finally able to start learning dance.

It was about two and a half years after I started dancing. It was decided to dance at a certain cabaret in Kansai (on a reserved day and time, which is not normally open because the audience calls themselves).

It was a gorgeous and dignified place, and when I received a letter from my father as a young child, I had no idea that the day would come when I would dance in such a place.

My father died of disease after fighting for about three years. About 25 years ago, at the request of my mother, I took care of my father at home, which was rare at that time.
After my father passed away .... In the process of grief care, I have the opportunity to meet a child my age who has experienced a lot of bereavement ....

It is a basic premise that even family members cannot compare their bereavement experiences with others .... There were many occasions when I could not help but think that there was a difference in the process of preparing myself to accept death from illness after a long struggle, and sudden death, accidental death, suicide, and homicide.

People in the kimono business, people who support the stage of Maiko's dance ... Kyoto is a city where the traditions unique to Kyoto flow quietly and continuously.

-The sense of distance in Kyoto -

If you walk down the street in Kyoto, you will hear many pairs of voices saying, "Oh, Mr. ○○. Hello."
Being from the Kanto region, I was surprised at first.

It was only at first that I was surprised by such things, but now I have the opportunity to get to know people who are unique to Kyoto .... We are still friends. However, as I have already mentioned, the distance is close, so please note that I will blur it a little.

-Someone in the kimono business asked me about the movie "National Treasure" -

I have lived in Kyoto for several years. A person in the kimono business who knows that I love watching movies asked me a few days after it was released, "[National Treasure] Have you seen it?." When I answered, "I learned that the Kaburenjo (Kaburenjo) in Pontocho was the filming location ... but ..." he told me, "I heard that Imamiya Shrine is also on the screen."

Speaking of Imamiya Shrine, it is famous for the god of marriage, and if you have been there once, you won't forget the road where two aburimochi stand facing each other. When people in Kyoto are told of Imamiya Shrine ... they will think of aburimochi and that approach.
I wonder what people in the kimono industry think when they see a national treasure ....
