（4）braise [bréiz]
【他】（肉や野菜を）少量の水でゆっくり煮込む、蒸し煮にする
語源は、フランス語の（braise：炭火、燃え殻）
「炭火（braise）の上で調理する」という意味から発展しました。

◎　なぜ正解？

全人生を教会とコミュニティへの奉仕に捧げたため、その牧師はその地方から非常に〜されている、という文脈から「venerated：崇められている」が正解です。

¶　編集記　

最初は「Since he has devoted his entire life to the church and serving others, the priest is highly venerated by the local community.」と書いていましたが、AIに添削してもらったとこと、無冠詞の「church and community service」とした方が、より宗教的な献身を感じさせる響きになりますとのことで、そこを修正しました。

また、そうすると「community service」と「local community」が重複感があるので、「by the local populace：その地域の住民から」に変更しました。
