“This Isn’t Who I’m Meant to Be”

And the Hidden Trap That Appears When You Feel It

Have you ever had that fleeting thought cross your mind?

“Maybe this isn’t the real me…”

You once believed:
This is my ideal.
This is what freedom looks like.
This is the right way.

You charged ahead with conviction —
until one day, you suddenly stopped and thought, Wait… what am I doing?

It’s the moment when the phrase “know your place” suddenly feels uncomfortably accurate.

My life was a loop of this

I would try to copy the ways of people I admired.
I would pour myself into whatever others said was “good.”

But somewhere along the way, the questions would come:

“Is this really the right direction for me?”
“Or should I branch off onto another path?”

And then, I’d be stuck — unable to go back, but not confident enough to keep going forward.

I think most of us have been there.

The lifeline in those moments: Self-understanding

The key is how well you truly know yourself.

But there’s a hidden trap in the process of self-understanding:
The belief that positive = good and negative = bad.

Negative does not mean “bad”

Many people treat negative emotions as the enemy.
But “negative” is simply a quality of emotion — it’s not evil.

When you do this, you’re unconsciously making a moral judgment about your emotions: good or bad.
And the standard for that judgment? Surprisingly vague — and often inherited from someone else, not chosen by you.

The “No Negativity” rule can wound you

If you’ve studied spirituality or psychology, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking:

“If I’ve grown, I shouldn’t feel negative emotions anymore.”

That’s not growth — that’s ignoring yourself.

If it would hurt to be ignored by someone else, why silently accept ignoring yourself?
That’s the real self-betrayal.

The first step: Observe your negatives

When a negative feeling arises, start by simply observing it.
Don’t deny it. Just notice: “Ah, this is what I’m feeling right now.”

That small shift can drastically reduce how often emotions sweep you away.

The path to self-understanding is about avoiding the traps along the way — and the best tool you have is the willingness to watch yourself with care.

That’s all from me for today.
