二日目も雨😭 昨日よりひどい雨。平日ということもあって、開園前の門の前には来園者がまばら。午後やっと雨足が上がる。二日目はもっとも気になる動物にしぼって見て回る。タイワンザル、シロテテナガザル、ボルネオオランウータン、フクロテナガサル、ニシゴリラ、チンパンジー、アヌビスヒヒ。
Day 2 is also rainy 😭 The rain is even heavier than yesterday. Since it's a weekday, there are only a few visitors in front of the gate before opening. The rain finally lets up in the afternoon. On the second day, I focused on the animals I was most interested in: Formosan macaques, white-handed gibbons, Bornean orangutans, siamangs, western gorillas, chimpanzees, and olive baboons.
タイワンザルの島に着いた時、雨が本降りになる。ポンチョ型のカッパを着ながら、雨の中しばらく撮影したのに、あとでぜんぜん撮れていなかったことに気づく😭録画ボタンを押したと思っていたら停止ボタンといういつもの凡ミスをやらかす。何度ミスしても学習しない自分😭
When I arrived at the Formosan macaque island, it started pouring. I spent a while filming in the rain wearing a poncho, only to realize later that I hadn't captured anything at all 😭 I made my usual clumsy mistake of thinking I pressed the record button when I actually pressed stop. I never seem to learn, no matter how many times I mess up 😭
台北動物園の中で特に感銘を受けたのが、シロテテナガザルの展示場だった。見上げると木々しか見えない。辛抱強く時間をかけて見続けたら、やっと二頭のシロテテナガザルが高い樹上にいることがわかる。親子なのか、兄弟なのか詳細は園が公表していない。二頭は仲良く毛繕いをしていた。
What impressed me most at the Taipei Zoo was the white-handed gibbon exhibit. Looking up, you can see nothing but trees. After watching patiently for a long time, I finally spotted two white-handed gibbons high up in the trees. The zoo hasn't disclosed whether they are parent and child or siblings. The two were grooming each other affectionately.
オランウータンの展示場付近で、台風の被害で倒れた樹木の伐採などの作業をしていた。屋内展示場などは立ち入り禁止になっていて、フランジオスが見れなかった。ちらっと格子越しに見えたのはだれだろう。Re Huoが作業員を警戒していて、威嚇をしていた。
Near the orangutan exhibit, workers were clearing trees that had fallen due to typhoon damage. The indoor exhibit area was closed to the public, so I couldn't see the flanged male. I wonder who it was that I glimpsed through the bars. Re Huo was wary of the workers and was threatening them.
水玉の野鳥の衝突防止シールで撮影しずらかったけど、格子よりまし。/ The polka-dot bird-strike prevention stickers made it hard to photograph, but it's still better than bars.

ということで、台北動物園編はこれにて終了。魅力的な動物たちがその種らしく生き生きと暮らすことができる動物園だった。二日間では見足りないと感じたのは、オランウータンとチンパンジー。次回訪れる機会があったら、ぜひフランジオスに会いたい。
And with that, my Taipei Zoo series comes to an end. It was a zoo where charming animals could live vigorously as their species. The two animals I felt I didn't see enough of in two days were the orangutans and chimpanzees. If I have the chance to visit again, I definitely want to meet the flanged male.
おまけ
2017年にチンパンジーの展示場からメス（サリー）が逃げ出してニュースになった。飼育員が網を持って現れると自ら放飼場の中へ戻って行ったそうな。誰も傷つかなくてほんとによかった。
In 2017, a female chimpanzee (Sally) made headlines when she escaped from her enclosure. Apparently, when the keeper appeared with a net, she returned to the enclosure on her own. I'm so glad no one was hurt.
