| Harry Taylor stands up to Bush. |
[22 Apr 2006|04:22pm] |
I assume most are aware of this but I haven't seen anything about it in any of the communities or on the news.. So I'm linking this just in case..
Posted by Thinkprogress.org on April 6, 2006, "This morning in Charlotte, a Bush PR event on the war on terror went off-script when a man named Harry Taylor took the microphone."
There's the script and a video link
You could also go to thankyouharrytaylor.org to thank him for his courage to say what he did in front of all of Bush's followers. I'm amazed he spoke as clearly as he did. I would've been shaking. Especially when Bush starting walking to the front of the stage sheilding the lights to get a better look at him. Then Bush went on to saying that he wouldn't apologize for what he's done, when Taylor clearly wasn't implying that he should.

i have to say it cuz it needs to be said. we need a message for the people if we gonna shift things our way this coming election, we need to show why they should choose democrats, & not just why they should not choose republicans. in 94, the republicans had the contract with america, now in 06, we need something we can say to the people, something that will make them think they should choose us & not just because the other guys are not that great. if anyone has any suggestions for a message that can appeal to masses & let the public know where we stand, here is how to contact the Democratic National Committee -
Mailing Address:

| Wanna See him gone? |

http://bloodyhearts.com/
Take the image from this site and plaster it on every telephone/light pole in your city. We did it last weekend, most of them were gone in a few days, but we are going to put up 1000 this weekend instead of 600.
Have them wake up the next day to see how many people don't want him around!

from CNN.com
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean
appears to have virtually locked up the chairmanship of the Democratic
National Committee, after his last major challenger dropped out of the
race and endorsed him Friday night.
I think this is a good move for the democratic convention. they need
people that actually know how to reach the mass population and spend
money wisely and ....stuff.
anyways. click on headline for article. laters

(CNN) -- Documents obtained by CNN reveal the United States knew about, and even condoned, embargo-breaking oil sales by Saddam Hussein's regime, and did so to shore up alliances with Iraq's neighbors.

The U.S's SD6 y'all
hehe. i just thought of that. yes i'm silly.
But the question i want to know is if people care if we have agencies
we don't know about? I personally find that the anonymity can help
these people do what needs to be done, yet at the same time that
anonymity gives them the freedom to do whatever they want.

| Investing Our Taxes? |
[19 Jan 2005|03:12pm] |
Anybody got any opinions on the Bush plan to allow people to invest a portion of their federal income taxes in stock in order to have a retirement fund? I am coming to the opinion that, if this is meant to replace social security, that it is not a very practical solution. Social security was designed to help the poor, while this program appears targeted to help the rich and highly educated. After all, if the amount of money you invest is a certain percentage of your taxes, the people who will get to invest the most are the people paying more income taxes...the rich.
Secondly, those folk didn't reach the upper-classes by accident. They had the education and business knowledge to know how to use their money effectively and where to invest (or their parents did). So, they have the know-how needed to take advantage of a system which offers them more money to invest with. Investing is a risky business. You have to be familiar with the ratings of particular businesses, and how to diversify. How are blue-collar workers going to know where to invest smartly, without screwing themselves over and losing the money they need for retirement?
And really, which is the lesser of two evils? A social security program which could run out when the baby boomers need it (not to mention later generations), or a program where one's nest egg depends upon using taxes in the ever-fluctuating stock market in an economy where many people (esp. the lower to middle classes) don't know how to invest?
It seems to me like the people who have the knowledge to take advantage of this program could benefit greatly from it, espeically if they are already wealthy. But the people who really need help with funding their old age, and their families, won't have the knowledge to take advantage of it, plus they won't any longer have social security. So, you potentially have a greater number of poor people either working all the way through old age, to the end of their life, or you increase the poverty level in America.
That's my take on the info I've learned so far, but if I am misunderstanding something here, or have misinterpreted something, feel free to correct me. I really want to figure out whether or not this program will benefit America as a whole.

I am wondering, why is there so much scrutiny about Ukraine's presidential race. I know, it is essentially part of Russia and the western world is trying to steal Ukraine. But why isn't it that every country has election questions at every national election. Does anyone really know if our votes really count. I am not saying that George Bush didn't win the election, but do we really know if any president has really won any election. It could all just be a big conspiracy. I am sure that most precincts are not lieing, but 1 extra vote in every precinct, could give any major canidate the election. Especially with the American Electoral College. Bush may have won, Kerry may have, Gore may have, and even Bob Dole may have won. Who knows who are real presidents are. Maybe the Chicago Tribune was correct about Dewey

I found this on latimes.com courtesy of the Brown Democrats blog (syndicated at brown_democrats), and figured it would make a good tactics discussion:
( article under the cut...Collapse )
I'm personally for it. I think it's a smart idea. Billy Boy, as I affectionately all him, is the heart of the Democratic Party and I think the only person in politics right now that captures his spirit is perhaps Obama.

( whole article here.Collapse )
so the only question i really have is this (and i've been asking alot of people with no clear answer yet), Since Kerry conceeded already can new revelations that could possibly give him a chance at winning (which i'm not saying this clearly does...it's just iffy) can Kerry do anything about it?

Do something about this travesty of an election. If you have access to a Fax machine, send a fax to:
(202) 265-0092
To: Ralph at BlackBoxVoting.Org
"Challenge the results in New Hampshire"
Sign your name.
That's it.
This organization thinks if we can get the ball rolling in New Hampshire, we may get a recount in 34 states.
DOOOOOOOOOOO IT.
