i'm having trouble finding the 12x12 puzzle in the top right corner... is that before or after helping Chad?
at the end after helping chad you can find it in the beach at the beginning
Rirel has given you the answer! It's after you help Chad. Also, I didn't know Itch had spoiler tags now! Thanks for showing me that! (Although the interface didn't work for me for some reason... I tried to spoiler the answer. 😅)
I've tried running the GBC version on my 3DS XL using TWiLight Menu++. After taking a few steps after the first puzzle, this happened:

I can't reproduce it upon restarting though. Thought you might wanted to know about this nonetheless
Thanks so much for letting us know! If it didn't happen again, that may have been a random emulator or hardware error, which can just happen sometimes. I hope the game is running smoothly for you now. Thanks for playing! 😄
I am stuck at 164/202 with 6/8 ducks. I've checked everything I can access, talked to everyone again, slept in every bed, entered every object and body of water I can. No matter where I look I can't find the other 2 ducks. What am I missing?
Also, is the question mark on the bedroom wall supposed to be a puzzle? I can't seem to activate it. I've checked everything in that room.
Can you post a screenshot of the room you're talking about? I would be happy to give you a hint!
After several weeks of playing, I can say this is my favorite nonogram game. It's got cute pixel graphics that remind me of early Pokemon games, lots of exploration and scenery to discover, and the puzzles are challenging without being frustrating. There's even a nice little storyline to discover! The music is rather repetitive and there's no option to turn it off (as far as I can discover), but aside from that, this game was wonderful! Thanks so much for making it!
Thanks for playing TaiFab and thanks for the feedback! 😄
I also get tired of music when I'm playing puzzle games, so I usually turn my system volume down. 🙂
Just beat it at 208%! Nice work! It was nice having somewhere to look at completed puzzles - it helped me find the last few I needed!
My only (admittedly small) complaint is that you stop running when you screen transition. You need to let go of the run button and press it again.
Great game!
Thank you for your feedback and thank you for playing TaiFab! 😄
Hello! Loving the game so far, but encountering a save bug on my gba (not browser version like a recent similar issue below).
Whenever I grab the scuba goggles, then save after, next time I load the game it goes back to right before that. It has happened twice so far, where the second time I did some of the fish puzzles, then saved, only to reopen to right before grabbing them.
Can you give us more information so that we can try to help?
You said you are playing on a Game Boy Advance, what specific setup? What emulator? What flash cart? What specific version of TaiFab? (Check the ROM file name for that)
The more information you can give us the better we can help!
I am still missing one 8*8 that I really cannot find. Spent night last night running around but couldn't find it. Any tips? It is the leftmost and third from the top on the small album, between fish and moon/star.
Copy and paste from further down the page:
Your missing puzzle is in the Bed and Breakfast.

When normal people go into shops, they talk to shop keepers across counters. Counters create a little 'Employees Only' space for things that customers shouldn't be touching, like cash registers and the like.
Don't be a normal person
I finally got the 202% completion! Thank you so much!
You're welcome, I hope you enjoyed TaiFab!
Thanks a lot for your game, it was great !! I love fishes and museums and puzzles so I had a great time (I didn't find all the ducks though, it's my only regret...)
Thanks for playing and commenting! I'm glad you had fun! 😄

You can get four ducks before you beat the game, and then the other half of the ducks are found in the post-game. 🙂
This is exactly the kind of creative project I’d love to see on pixel-deck.com
I absolutely love this game but my progress keeps refreshing to a new game and over 3 hours of my play time is lost ( I’ve tried saving progress , did not work ) which is sad because i wanted to beat the game ( several times) :c
I'm guessing you are playing in your web browser. This is not actually an issue with the game, but with your browser clearing cookies. The web Gameboy emulator on itch uses cookies to store your save data locally on your machine, so every time your cookies get cleared your save goes with them. Similarly, if you play in incognito mode your browser will clear all cookies at end of session anyway. Check the privacy settings on your browser!
Alternatively you can download one of the ROM files listed above and play TaiFab on your own emulator or flash cart setup and have more direct access to the save files.
If you are not playing in browser, please tell us more about your issue!
Yes i am playing on browser but i don’t know how to stop cookies from clearing :c
...is it just me who isn't able to get past the loading screen...? its kinda just stuck there.
You should be able to press any button to get past the splash screen. 🙂 (If you're playing in browser, check out the controls above to see the relevant keyboard inputs.) If pressing a button does not get you past the splash screen, please let me know!
I wrote the game so that the player can take as long or short a time on the splash screen as desired, so it's entirely up to you when you advance it. 🙂
You got past the splash screen to the main menu, so clearly you managed to press one of the game's input keys. Check the game controls, which are listed earlier on the page. You may need to click the game window so that the game has focus in order for your inputs to be counted
Copy and pasted the controls from earlier on the page

I had the same problem, I had to press the "alt" key then "enter" and it worked !
very fun! I did about 150 puzzles before giving up, chad will have to wait for another time
Did You Chad? Chad is very patient and doesn't mind waiting for another time. 😄 🦑
I'm glad you're having fun! Thanks for playing! 💖
good
Thank you! Sorry I didn't see your comment until today. Itch's comment approval tool is not very visible.
among us??
lol 😄
It's not, but that does remind me of a post from an amazing pixel artist: https://bsky.app/profile/rappenem.bsky.social/post/3kqldsxhprs23
Hi, I played through the main game on the browser and wanted to play it again but this time on my 3ds. I downloaded the GBC version and injected it in but the game looks kinda fuzzy. Is there anyway to turn up the contrast to make it a little easier to see which squares ive marked with an X?
Love your work and excitedly waiting for the fabulous test kitchen :
So glad you enjoyed the game! I have not played GB games emulated on 3DS, so I don't know what the options are, but is there an emulator menu with color settings? 🙂 The GB emulator on my PC has adjustable color settings.
I've applied a screen filter and its made it better. Excited for this second go around and to hopefully 100% it :D
Replaying this game again only to realize there's more content than the last time I played :]. Though does anyone know the location of the puzzles originating from second to last row of the 12x12 album? Those are the last ones I'm missing before completing this who-knows-how-many replay through.
Thanks for playing again! 💖 Here is a hint for the missing puzzles: have you tried sleeping in empty beds? There is more than one bed in the game to sleep in. Please let me know if you need a more specific hint! 😄
Thank you so much for the hint ^w^
Awww the TaiFabPlus on GBA doesnt have the cool border the regular version have? :(
The border is only for Super GB, unfortunately. TaiFabPlus is GBC exclusive and not compatible with Super GB. I'm glad you like the Super GB border for TaiFab, though!
It's clear that this game was a pure labor of love. I have spent an unholy amount of time doing nonogram puzzles before playing this, and it was a delight!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! :D
my cat just stepped on my keyboard and reloaded the page. i hadnt saved in like 2 hours . auuuuuuuuuuughghhhghghhghghhh
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear!! 😭
10/10 amazing
Thank you so much!! :D
That's very cool! I hope it helps you enjoy the game! :D
太好玩了。从来没想过我会对数独感兴趣。买了1美元的版本,准备下到模拟器里玩
i didn't realize i love nonogram until played this game. It's so amazing.Already purchased the updated version and decided to put it on my gbc emulator in 3ds.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoy nonograms now! :D
! Wonderful little game! Combining an overworld to explore with the puzzles makes it very rewarding to solve the next nonogram and unlock a new location/event/object. I'm only about 60 puzzles in, so, I still have a long way to go, but I can't wait to discover it all! Thank you for making this!
Thank you for playing and commenting! I hope you enjoy the rest of TaiFab! :D
so great thank you for making this
Thank you so much for playing! :D
Finally done! 208% completion. I feel like the “Oh you’re done oh wait more puzzles!” sequences made it feel a bit overly long before the end but by and large a wonderful game and a tremendous value! I’m very much looking forward to the next one. It also got me to dig out my old 2DS XL, which made it all the more fun. :)
Thank you for your thoughtful comment and I'm glad you had fun! :D
Wow! How did you get 208%? I've completed with 202% and I can't find any more content
PastaThief was playing the TaiFabPlus version of the game, which includes 6 extra puzzles and a host of quality-of-life features. You can read more about TaiFabPlus by scrolling up this page, or purchase it yourself by buying TaiFab for a minimum of $1 USD. If you have already purchased TaiFab, just download the TaiFabPlus_1-2-6.gbc file and enjoy it on your own Game Boy Color environment of choice!
This is a game that just KEEPS on giving, there is an absolutely crazy amount of content!! I was expecting maybe like an hour tops and I've been playing it over the course of several days and I'm STILL not done!! The entire premise is so charming, I love the talking fish and that they're choosing to go in the museum :D
But once you've finished that, which appears as though it's the main goal, foolish are you to think it's over!!
I boarded the End Ship (friendship <3) only to realise there was still more to play, and, recalling seeing game stats saying I had only 3 out of however many ducks, so I go on a journey to find where the rest are hiding! Thus I discovered the ~Long Hall~ or whatever it's called, so many more puzzles!!! And I think to myself, ok so this is the bonus post-game area with extra puzzles for people to do if they really want to. And once I get through the last door (not even having finished all the puzzles yet!!) I go to find the stat place. Wandering around, I go back to the Inn and take a nap only to be transported to the Food Pocket Dimension(!?!?!?) with 5 more puzzles, and I think ok, that's gotta be the end now!! I then wander into the bath, remember this area with doors I forgot about, wander on in through, and there it is.
An entire. Underground bar. Full of our fish friends. Throwing a party for Chad.
This game.
It does not end.
It's been 4 days and there's still more. I haven't even peeked into the second door in this hall yet.
10/10
Genuinely I've had so much fun with this!! I've never come across nonograms before but they're really fun and definitely a good brain exercise!! I feel so smart figuring them out >:D I appreciate the variety in difficulties, having some that you really gotta spend a while on working them out, and some easier ones to give you a break and a few quick completions! I also really appreciate that every single one is completable without guessing- that's a lot of work on your part given there's well over 150 puzzles!! The art is super charming, and I love the characters!! The sunfish shooting up via rocket in the end credits is so funny!! And I love the strange duck society <3 And all the mini-quests and things to do, like digging up all the crosses, feeding the gator, and now the party! :D I can tell this game has been real labour of love, and it shows!! <3<3 Excellent work!!
Ok I've done the party bar- I have 6 more puzzles before I can summon chad, and I saw in the description for the pro version that it adds 6 puzzles, are those the ones I'm missing? :0
No, the six extra puzzles in the Plus version are acailable AFTER you summon Chad. Have you checked your puzzle albums for missing puzzles? :) If you need further hints, please lwt us know!
Thank you for your enthusiastic comment! I'm really glad you've enjoyed the game, and I hope you'll look forward to Taiyaki Fabulous Test Kitchen!
Absolute blast of a game! I have never done nonograms in my life, but this game not only taught me how to do them, it got me hooked on them! I got the End Ship yesterday but there are still puzzles and secrets to find, so I know I will still spend multiple hours with it.
Dev house and story you told within it is also very cute. I wish you well in your future projects!
Thank you so much for playing! I'm always happy to introduce new fans to nonograms! Let me know if you want recommendations for other nonogram games. 😄
This game is wonderful!! If you have the Plus version, how do you enable dark gridlines? I’m playing on a 2DSXL and I’m finding it very hard to see the markings.
Thank you so much for supporting TaiFab! In TaiFabPlus, there should be light lines for most of the grid, but dark lines every four squares:
There isn't a special option to enable--it should just look like that. I'm not sure why the grid is hard to see on your particular device. Maybe you can check emulator options for color adjustment?
Oh, I see. Yes, those are there. When I read the feature description, I thought you could change the light blue lines to be some other colour.
The actual issue I'm having isn't so much with the lines, but with the 'x' marks. On my computer or my phone (i.e. on modern display hardware) they're great, but when I try to play this on my Nintendo 2DS XL, they're nearly impossible to see against the white/cream background. I have to expect it'd be worse on a real GBC. So I was hoping that if you could change the gridlines maybe it would also change the 'x' marks, which was, of course, a long shot. :)
I'm very nearly done, though -- just mopping up the last few extra puzzles -- and it's a fantastic game even despite that. I can't wait for the sequel!
Just finished it and absolutely loved it. Like others have said, the 12x12 size forced me to recalibrate my nonogram muscle memory in a good and interesting way. On to Pixel Pup next!
Thanks so much for playing TaiFab, and I hope you enjoy Pixel Pup!!
As someone who's done enough nonograms and played enough picross that I can do 15x15 on instinct, 12x12 is uniquely challenging in a way I didn't expect. Especially since this game doesn't have a lot of the QoL features that a lot of mobile games do.
But the game seems aware of that.
Not only in that exit points are extremely common, due to how easy it is to run (or warp) back to the save point whenever. But also because the puzzels appear to cap out at 12x12 (I haven't beaten the game yet, so maybe there's some 20x20 behemoth final boss waiting to kill me). Plus being able to check incomplete rows whenever, a screen clear, and the ability to just do the puzzle later. I would prefer "Give up" to be reflavored to "Exit puzzle", since that feels a bit more accurate to the tone of the game, but "Give up" is how it would be phrased on a real GB game so I'll give you that.
The game does have a lot of charm though! It feels very of the era, and I've been saying for years that an adventure nonogram game would be amazing. This is ample evidence that I was right.
Will properly rate and review once I beat it. For now though, head hurt, gonna take a break.
Thank you for your thoughts! I hope you enjoy the rest of the game. 😄
On controller the A and B inputs seem to be reversed for me?
There are a lot of possible setups for playing this game, so I'm not sure what your specific controller issue may be. If you're playing in an emulator on your computer, it should hopefully have options for you to remap the controls. 🙂 I hope you can find a comfortable way to play!
Update: Hello, i got a problem regarding on this game. You see, I'm stuck at 200 and i can't get past to the final puzzle...
1st photo i have only have 1 missing puzzle to solve but 2nd photo the puzzle was in question mark and 3rd photo the puzzle is actual solved but i think it wasn't triggered. I swear i did solved all of the puzzle including the once i found out there's more.
idk if this is a bug but i immediately stopped playing because of this, it's been a long time but idk i don't wanna start all over again...
Have a great day then.
This is not a bug, and you do not have to start over
You solved the 12x12 version of this puzzle in the looong gallery, but not the original 8x8 puzzle in the main game sequence.
The original puzzle is still waiting for you in the Moon Cottage Bed and Breakfast. Go back, and talk to the innkeeper.
You get the innkeeper's puzzle by going behind the counter to talk to her directly instead of talking to her across the counter. If she says "You are in the middle room. Please also enjoy some seafood soup." instead of giving you a puzzle, it doesn't mean you have a bug, it means you have not understood my instructions.
really fun game been playing it for days only thing im missing now are 4 ducks i cant find and to open the 150 puzzles room (i have 121 rn) awesome game
You'll see the other four ducks after the 150 puzzle door. 🙂 I'm really glad you like TaiFab so far! I hope you have fun with the rest of the game! 😄
That was a delight! Been working on it here and there during breaks at work for a few weeks and finally finished. Thank you for this treat of a game!
I'm so glad you had fun with TaiFab! Thanks for playing! :D
Amazing game <3. My 1st time playing nonograms and they are great!! I'm reaching 200% and somehow get stuck finding those remaining. I rlly need help. Thanks a lot!
p/s: i need to find the first one in the third row from the top in the 8x8 album (i did upload the image but it didn't appear T-T)
p/s: i found the ans in the comment and finished it at last!!
Yay, glad you found the answer! Thank you so much for playing and commenting!
Thank you for the game! I’m a bit stuck feeding the alligator. The last fish I’m missing is the one in the lower left corner of the museum.
I'm glad you're having fun with TaiFab!
For both the alligator and the last Fish Power, it sounds like you might be missing a crucial item. Have you searched the bathtub in the inn? :)
Ooh thank you! That was actually the missing clue. I’m sure I was there before, but spammed A instead of going left and down and assumed it was just decoration like all the other grey objects. It’s a bit confusing where you press A and where you move into it but only from one direction, where the sides have collision, like a door. Now I blew through the rest and summoned Chad. I only felt stuck for one more moment, when I had to understand I should re-visit two locations of a previous quest and to find the remaining ten puzzles because now it would do something different than before. But I admit I did not really read the text for that quest, I was just sprinting for the next puzzle ^^ Thank you so much for this enjoyable experience!
Thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts! I'll keep them in mind. :)
Finished the game with 208% completion. I really liked the "fever dream" vibe and the odd characters you meet along the way. Helping to set up the birthday party at the end being the highlight, in my opinion. Good note to end on. Never really realized how much I like Gymnopédie before.
So glad you enjoyed my weird little game! GG on getting completion! :D
I'm a couple dozen puzzles in and really loving this! Amazing job from a fellow Nonogram developer in "that one picross video"!
Nice, I'll have to check out your game! There was a lot of good stuff in that video. :D I'm glad you like TaiFab so far! <3
Great Game ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The passage north of the Museum ist very sneaky :P
Thank you! I'm glad you like TaiFab! And it is kinda sneaky, isn't it? 😄
Playing the game and fully compelted the main story but im having some touble getting the bottom row of the large puzzles? and im missing 4 ducks... i have a feeling this is related
Thanks so much for playing and commenting! I hope these hints will help:
SPOILER
.
.
.
.
.
Missing puzzles hint: Have you tried sleeping in empty beds? There is more than one to sleep in. 🙂
Missing ducks hint: You can find four ducks before the ending and four more after the ending in the post-game area. 😄
The last row of the large puzzles and the ducks are not related.
The last two rows of large puzzles are accessed the same way. Do you remember how you got to the second-to-last row of puzzles? You used an item to access those puzzles, look for another location where you can use that same item.
