Description:
A resource for those who experience persistent anxiety or received an anxiety disorder diagnosis.
This community is a resource for those who experience persistent anxiety or received an anxiety disorder diagnosis (general anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, etc).

Our intent is to provide a safe place for discussion. You must become a member to post and are encouraged to email the mods with concerns about any post or comment you feel is inappropriate.

You may reach the mods at panicanxiety@ymail.com.

Please read and follow the general rules below.

General Rules:
  • Be polite. No fighting, insulting, name-calling, flaming or trolling. Put a long post under an LJ cut. Be considerate of others when you post. Respectful disagreement is different than fighting. Whenever you feel a strong surge of negative emotion toward another poster, it's a good indicator that things are getting too personal. Stop. Sit on your hands. Take the argument elsewhere.

  • Stay on topic. This is an anxiety community. Keep your entry anxiety related. Posting daily events are fine as long as the content ties into anxiety. Eg: I had this happen to me and now I'm really anxious.

  • Place potentially upsetting entries under an lj-cut. Is your entry graphic? Could it trigger others, especially entries about suicide and self-injury? Have people asked you to put it under a cut? If you don't know how, instructions can be found in the LJ FAQs here. If you're still unsure, email the mods at panicanxiety@ymail.com. If there's any doubt, place your entry under a cut to be safe.

  • While you are free to delete your original post (which deletes all responses), do not delete or screen responses to your posting. If you are offended by a response, please contact the mods as described in the rules. Deleting or screening replies may result in termination of your community membership. Exception: You may delete or screen a reply if it contains personal information such as your real name, address, phone, or similar information.

  • Advertising another community is permissable provided that the community is directly related to anxiety and associated disorders. Examples: depression, manic-depression, ADD, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, addiction problems, IBS, parenting with anxiety, school and anxiety, etc. The ad may be deleted if the advertised site has excessively intrusive questionnaires.

  • Post all pictures, ads, banners or videos under a cut with a short explanation of the content before the cut. No exceptions.

  • Do not post an entry containing a survey, a link to a survey, a request for donation, or a request for information to be used in publications/studies of any kind without permission. Email details of your request to the mods at panicanxiety@ymail.com before posting. Any post of this type not approved by the mods in advance is subject to immediate deletion without notice.

  • Attempting to post an entry with an external link will cause the post to be sent to the moderators first. We will review the link. If the external link is to a site that contains blacklisted advertising, we will reject the post and usually advise why. If the external link is acceptable, we will approve the post.

There is one active community owner who will moderate as necessary.
  • You should assume the owner does not read every post or comment, so please speak up when something appears wrong.

  • If a post is offensive, email us.

  • If a member gets out of hand and you cannot handle the situation without it turning into a fight, email us.

  • If a post should be under a cut but you don't want to speak to the poster, email us.

What will be done if there is a problematic entry:
  • Warnings. We'll try to contact the person. If we can't, or the situation requires it, we'll post. We may also freeze or screen entries.

  • If a person continues to exhibit behavior that threatens community stability, their posting privilege will be suspended until the issue is settled.

  • Persistent disregard for community rules will result in a ban.
