*bounce bounce bounce* He's trying to talk!
Today I caught my parrot, Xan, trying to talk. My fiancée and I were having a conversation and he sat behind me and started mumbling what we were saying. He totally had my fiancée’s voice down. We turn and looked at him and he ducked out of sight. I think he was embarrassed. I was thrilled. =) YAY!

New Fid!
We adopted a black-capped conure over the weekend. He is just so beautiful. I love the black and white on his neck with the blue. He has red bits on his wings. I adopted him from a girl from Craigslist. She said he had cage aggression and that she graduated from college and didn't have time for him any more. She interviewed a lot of people today, but she saw how comfortable he was with me immediately. She said he is 5. She got him from Petsmart, where she socialized him. He's just so... calm. He definitely heard and talked to my other birds. Right now, he is upstairs in one of our spare rooms for his quarantine. This is the hardest part for me. When I left, he looked at me like "are you ever coming back??" So far, no cage aggression issues seen. My husband and I have both been able to put our hands in the cage (we had to make some perch adjustments after I had him in there). The cage isn't bad size, but by the end of quarantine, I think he will get upgraded (everyone is getting upgraded to nicer cages by Christmas time, except Sammy. I tried. He likes his cage, and that's fine with me. Whatever makes him happy makes me happy. Oh, and Peanut, who already has a conure condo at 32x23x60). His name was Dinero, but I thought it was kind of tacky, and new home = new name. We ended up renaming him Cuddle-Bug, because he just loves to Cuddle.

An intro of sorts...and pictures
Hi I'm a fairly new parrot owner. I went to the store Friday looking for doves. I used to raise doves years ago and am getting married next year. So, I had this idea...doves.

I got to the store and the doves were outrageously expensive. Not just that, but they only had brown ones and I was pretty much looking for tangerine, white, or pink. (Like I said, I had this idea...)

Well, there was ( this little budgerigarCollapse ) in the cage near the doves that was following my every move. I've never had a young parrot, I did inherit a blue amazon (Mr.Bones - he was so much fun!) and had him for a long time so I wasn't completely foreign to the idea of a parrot. So, I asked the girl how old ( this little budgieCollapse ) was and if she knew the gender. Well, he still had a pink beak so she said he was very young but it was too early to tell the gender. He was such an insistent little fella and I did have everything at home for someone like him...so I brought him home.

Ok, so that was Friday. He was pretty freaked out with the whole car ride thing so we kind of let him get used to his surroundings that night. Saturday, he let us pet him and he makes happy little noises at us but trying to get him to step up hasn't been going so well. (The top of his beak started turning blue and he started getting his violet cheek spots on Saturday too...pretty exciting stuff!)

The problem is, he doesn't seem to want to step on us. He'll put one foot up and just sit there. He is very young and I don't think he was handled as much as we were told he was handled. When I had Mr.Bones, he already knew how to do things like step up and many other things. (When my papa Bones died, he had already taught him tons of things. I taught him a few extra words and that’s about it.)

My question is, does anyone have suggestions for us to help ( our little budgieCollapse ) feel more comfortable? Also, I'd like to get to the point where he'll step up so I can take him out and let him take a bath or so I can easily clean his cage...all that. How do you teach them to step up?

Sargey!
This is x-posted EVERYWHERE. Sorry. :P

He's so insanely playful! He will play with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING he can get his beak on. I had these little plastic/rubbery bracelet thingies that were all colorful, and I had 20+ of them... Now I have 9. :P Sarge breaks them off, and chews little chunks off, then throws the little chunks. I had a LOT of cleaning up to do. Haha. There were little green, orange, and pink pieces of plastic alllll over the carpet. You'll see him playing with one in the pics. (:

He also LOVES grapes. A lot. .. And he loves apples, head scratches, peanuts, waffles (haha), oranges, toys, rope, cuddles.. everything.

I love him!

Okay, so! DUN DUN DUNNNN.... PICTURES!!!!!!!! And beware, there are a lot. (:
