| I realize that it has already been three days since the end of Memorial Day Weekend, but because of school projects, I haven't had the chance to post anything until now. :)
I guess I'll begin with Friday, May 22, 2009.
[Friday] Flight of the Conchords Concert at Santa Barbara Bowl. - Went with the hunny and a couple of our friends. *AWESOME* concert!!! ..tho I wonder why there were kids there. I shudder to think what kind of parents are raising them..
[Saturday] Strawberry Festival at Arroyo Grande. - Went with the hunny and the same couple of friends. Yumm, strawberries! and street vendors! ..well, I didn't buy anything this year since my hunny and I already bought stuff last year. We had also bought strawberries from a local farmer the day before, so it would be rather pointless to buy even more strawberries.. A tangent- I was wearing a pair of knee-high socks which kept slipping down into my shoe, which then made my shoes slip off at some point. I think it's time to retire that pair of socks..
Watched The Guild's (with Felicia Day and Sandeep Parikh) live video chat. **Highlight of the Day** : Having Felicia and Sandeep mention my name on their live chat! XD "This one is from Rochelle Reyes: 'Who drew The Guild characters for the intro and the DVD cover?'"
[Sunday] Um.. I think I just slept in.. Can't really remember what else happened hahaha..
[Monday] Trip to Solvang. - Went with the hunny and a couple of our friends and their baby boy. So much fun! Lots of walking, but got to experience the (however touristy) town that is Solvang. I loved the architecture and the overall ambience (it reminded me of being in Disneyland hehe). Ate a yummy sandwich and a pretzel (ooh, I loooove pretzels...). Not only did we walk around and took a look at the shops, but we also visited an antique store, filled with..well..antiques, but they're *antique*. Most of the merchandise dated back to the early 1900's if not earlier. They sell anything from clocks, to dining ware, to pianos, to old telephones, to old newspaper ads. Some of it reminded me of the Haunted Mansion haha... Beautiful stuff.
=== Needless to say, my hunny and I were exhausted from the entire weekend. Even though it was an *extended* weekend, it wasn't very restful at all ^.^;; Oh well.. | comments: Leave a comment |

| WARNING: this blog is a complete rant concerning my experience today..
-- [terrible hair experience #2]
went into the hair salon with pictures of what hairstyle i want (*pictures = 3! front, quarter, and back views..much more than most people bring to salons..). told the hairstylist that i want that hairstyle. she asks me if i want a perm; thinking it would be a perm that matches the hairstyle in the photos, i said yes. after all the pain of having hair strands plucked from my skull and 3 hours, i find out that she permed my hair with tight curls. tight! attached are the pictures i brought in. yeah, my perm looked nothing like it. even after she blow-dried it a bit, it made my hair look like a rerun of the '80s. i tell her it looks absolutely nothing like the photos. she says it's because my hair is too long that it's making the curls look smaller. she says she'd have to thin out my hair some more. fine; i tell her to do it in the hopes of maybe she actually knows what she's doing. wrong. curls did look slightly bigger, but nothing like the photos. then she says that it just needs a bit of styling. a bit? HA. more like A LOT of styling. she practically straightened out my hair and then used a fat curling iron to make the curls (they're more like waves if you take a look at the photos) look more like those in the pictures. it was as if i never even got my hair permed to begin with. what was the point of perming my hair if she was going to straighten it out anyway?? why the hell should i pay for something that i didn't even want? why should i pay for her mistake? a mistake that she tried to remedy to make it seem as though she were still doing what i asked her to do. then, when she's collecting her money, she tells me that she told me what kind of curls it would be. WHAT?!? since when did she tell me that? she never once told me what the outcome would be like. she didn't tell me anything while she was doing my hair; therefore, i assumed that she was using good judgment and would actually be able to do that hairstyle. i argue with her some more (basically same arguments going back and forth..), and not being able to contain/control my emotions anymore, i pay enough for the haircut and leave, refusing to pay for the perm. i won't stand for something that's wrong. why the hell should i pay for something that i don't want??!? she doesn't deserve that money. if she complains about time, shiet - i was there too. my time is wasted too.
..and i was planning on giving her a good tip too, had she done what i wanted to begin with..
.....oh great, i have to upgrade my account first before uploading my picture... nvmnd.. maybe i'll post it later..
oh. and if you're wondering where this salon is, it's over by tully and senter rd. i'm not smack-talking about the owner. no, she's good. i should've gotten her instead of her no-brain worker.
ps. the stupid hairdresser in question is named kim. don't go to her. | comments: Leave a comment |

| okae, this just happened a few minutes ago:
there i was, walking in the mall back towards the parking garage, when one of those kiosks selling hair curlers/straighteners employees says "excuse me" to get my attention. kiosk guy: "can i ask you a question?" i stop walking to listen to him. kiosk guy: "do you curl your hair?" (trying to find a good way to just end the conversation)me: "no, it's already curly. i got it permed." before i could turn around, he quickly asks me: "do you ever straighten your hair?" me: "no. sorry, but i'm in a hurry."
i turn to go, and this other guy (looked like a stereotypical wannabe-thug type wearing a huge t-shirt that made him look like his body shrank) purposefully walked straight at me, his whole body colliding with my left side. i was about to say sorry, thinking that i wasn't looking where i was going, but the wannabe-thug said, grinning: "i just pick-pocketted you." and he continued to just walk in the opposite direction. immediately, i check my belongings thinking, wait, my purse is zipped up on my right shoulder, completely protected by being underneath my arm, so that would be impossible for him to have pick-pocketted me. out of complete shock of what just happened and fury, i quickly walked back to the parking garage.
when i got back to my car, i confirmed my suspicions - nothing was stolen. i could have said so many things to that wannabe guy. i wish i could've said, "what, a piece of lint?" if anything, i keep nothing but tissue in my pockets.
and that kiosk guy. what an idiot and a jerk; i hate pushy salespeople. i mean, i already told him that i permed my hair. why the hell would anyone who just spent nearly $100 to permanently curl her hair want to straighten it again??!?
*fuming* oakridge mall, thanks again for reminding me what kind of idiots roam your aisles. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Please pray for my baby cousin, Noe. She had a seizure earlier today, the second one she's ever had (the first one being a few months ago), and is currently at a children's hospital.
It would mean a lot to me. Thanks | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
