Notice of Changes
This page is updated when NOAA Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) makes changes to products, tools or services that are used to support NOAA operational products, research activities, or information products about NOAA data or tools. OAR invites the public to comment on these proposed changes by submitting an email to: oar.communications@noaa.gov. (Please include “Comment on Changes” in the email subject line.)
SPEAR model updates schedule
July 3, 2025 – The NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory SPEAR model contributions will now be provided to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center and others four times a year in January, April, July and October as a tool for seasonal outlooks until further notice. Ongoing research and development focused on improved capabilities with SPEAR will continue.

June 30, 2025 – In compliance with Executive Order 14303, Restoring Gold Standard Science, NOAA is relocating all research products from Climate.gov to NOAA.gov in an effort to centralize and consolidate resources. Future research products previously housed under Climate.gov will be available at NOAA.gov/climate and its affiliate websites.
2025 deployment of second-generation environmental sampler processors in Lake Erie
June 1, 2025 – The NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory will not be deploying the second-generation environmental sampler processors (2G ESPs) in Lake Erie for the 2025 field season.
