I am creating an exquisite corpse in my journal.
It isn't as gross as you think, and I need your help.
An exquisite corpse is a kooky Oulipo invention. I think. Well, anyway. The way it usually works is that you write a line of a poem and enjamb it, so that one word is on the next 'line'. Then, you fold the paper over the line, leaving the last word sticking out. Then, you pass it on to the next person. That person has to use your last word as the first word of their line. They do the same, putting one word on the next line and folding the paper over most of the line. Here's an example I did with my family over... some summer, sometime. It's color-coded, ooh.

So, now I have to *somehow* translate this into the electronic world. So here's what we'll do.
Post a comment to this entry with the first part of your 'line,' with the word you're replying to bolded. Then, comment to that comment with your 'word'. Then, delete your FIRST comment. The 'word' will be left, and I will have the whole lines e-mailed to me. Do NOT reply to comments, reply to the POST.
*IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS (comment, delete your own comments), ASK BEFORE YOU DO IT.*
Since this is going to be CRAZY, I'm adding a couple more restrictions.
- If you see a person's full line before they delete it, let somebody else use their word
- Let at least 3 other people write a line after your line before you write another line.
- In the event two people use the same word (post close to the same time): a. If nobody has replied to either word, the first word will be taken & the second will be deleted. b. If somebody has kept the chain going, the second word will be taken & the first word will be deleted.
I'm starting this off in the comments section, because after that, I can't really participate. Good luck, and let's hope this works. Current Mood: excited

procrastinating more! Now I'm procrastinating on the packing thing. But really, it won't take me all that long to pack, since this time, I have almost nothing in the kitchen that's mine except for the Brita and condiments. And that pie. Yum. Pie. blah. So today will be a lazy, lazy day, filled mostly with TV and packing, or TV and procrastination, as the case may be. I need to do some webby stuff before the semester ends, but other than that, whee. Emily's hanging out with me in the library, as much as hanging out in the library is one of the geekiest phrases I've said in a while. Oh, well. Current Mood: crampy!!

So today's been the day from hell. I started it off at a little before 8. I set my alarm for later than that, but I got up slightly early. I went & finished my shakespeare final paper, which tipped the scales at an even 10 pages, and then went to print. The paper came out with nothing on it. Hmm. That's strange, I thought. I cleaned the heads, and then pressed print again. Light Blue, which faded to white. Oh. And of course my computer has no internet or a drive. Of course. So from around 9:45-11:07, I was copying out my shakespeare paper by hand. I finished it at exactly 11:07. I know this, because I have to leave for class at 11:07. I ran through the house in enough time to get a bandanna to put on my disgustingly greasy hair and then out the door, with a little bit of frantic running in place and hand waving. Thanks to GOD that Dr. Cady was permissive enough to let me hand it in in longhand. If I had to type the damn thing over again... argh. So after I hand my paper in, I get to start the 2-hour long exam. About a half hour in, I start my period. GREAT. And we're not allowed to leave the room until we're finished, despite the fact that this test is open-note, open-book. I wrote as fast as I could (which was agony on my poor overworked fingers) so that I could use one of those crappy vending machine pads, because apparently I took my nice ones out of my bag. After that, I grabbed some cranberry juice & pizza combos from the vending machine, which is all I've had to eat all day, and then I headed to the library, to do my two music papers. By that time, it was around 1. I was blase for a little while, reading livejournal... but then it occurred to me that my music final was at 2:30, not 4 like my final yesterday... and I had better get moving! The bright spot of my day was when *someone* taught me how to get free printing without a card in the SJU network. I am not allowed to divulge who. After the music final, which was just an insult to my intelligence, I had to come back here and start my metaphysics paper. SO BOO. I'm going home now. It's time for the simpsons. Thanks to my darling muncle, my account is paid again, so you can send me sympathy text messages. And you'd fucking better. Current Mood: stressed
