I would like to thank the members of these communities (crossposted, animalrights, screw_meat and anticruelty) for encouraging me to become vegetarian again after 2 years. I am stopping eating meat today and am cutting down on dairy products, hopefully becoming a vegan for the New Year.

Am happy about this. I desperately need to start eating healthily again and this has managed to kick my arse into doing so.
One question however... I always have cereal with milk every morning. Apart from this (and milkshakes + cheese) I don't do a lot of dairy products, so it will be fine for me to buy vegan chocolate or yogurt when I get the cravings, and I'll have a go at vegan cheese... but I have heard that soya milk really isn't all that good for you, so am hesitant to use it with cereal/milkshakes.
What's the truth about soya milk? And if it's unhealthy, are there any other alternatives to milk? I don't know if I can live without my breakfast cereal and my milkshakes :,(

hi im emily and i just joined...man the lack of things to say.

i dont want to sound like a recovering alcoholic but hehe ive been vegetarian for like 4 years and saw this club advertised in a sxe community...

ha but yea i was reading through and it sounds kinda nice to be with people who understand this stuff...everyone i know trys to push meat on me or asks stupid questions trying to debate why im dumb...

for the record im not a meat eater hater i infactually love the taste and smell of meat so i understand how someone with a weak will eats it but...despise the idea of killing animals for it. btw im a member of peta too!

Sadly, i am no longer vegan. I was forced out of it as i was not careful monitoring my protein intake, and my doctor advised me off of it. I am still a vegetarian, thankfully though.

anyways, in my vegan days, i came across this recipe, and its really awesome. its for Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Treats. Yum!

Hey. I read your arguement in the sXe comunity and decided it was my duty to join this one as well. It is awesome to see other vegans out there. In my city their are like 4 of us. Fuckin right.

okee you guys. thank you to all who joined and thank you to all that gave me helpful hints on how to make this place better for us all. you are appreciated.

okay so this is the first official post of "you may start posting shit and etc..." i want this place to be active, like CRAZY active. lol, anyway i added some rules to help out with what you can and cannot do. none of them are too crazy i believe. but if u have any suggestions about the journal or rules that should be added, feel free to e mail 'em to me. i have a link to "Chew On This" if any of you haven't gazed upon it yet and i really like it...it was shot nicely. so check it out if you want, and i BELIEVE there is a way to send it to others through e mail if you want, on the bottom of the page of the movie. so if you're a memeber now....promote, promote, promote my dearies! thanks in advance!

I just joined because i sympathise with your feelings. I've been a vegetarian for almost a year, and now a Vegan for a month.

I am getting extremely aggravated with the wisecracks and jokes.

"Vegetarians are all lesbians because they hate meat" (Nothing wrong with being a lesbian, but they meant it as an insult)
"Save a cow, eat a vegetarian"
and of course, the ever popular 'tree hugger'

And theres loads more. Im tired of having all this simply because i feel its wrong to kill an innocent animal. My family doesnt exactly understand, being theyre all farmers, and when i ask for anything without meat, they immediately refuse. its so aggravating.

Anyways, im not about hating people who arent vegetarian or vegan, but i am extremely annoyed with those who are prejudice towards it.

Time for them to grow up, if you ask me.

im a vegitarian. i support this community but i think its a little harsh. i know eating meat is wrong but i also know that people have a right to their own choices. maybe u should take it down a notch with the putdowns. being sxe and vegitarian i know that they insult us but why dont we show them that we're the bigger person and blow them off?
