Apparently alot of you misread my last post. It's ok.

I'm not bleeding and my water hasn't broken and at that point I wasn't doubled over in pain. I was listing the reasons that the nurses gave me for when to come back. Alot of you skipped over the word "or". We're all pregnant-crazy/new mom-crazy so you're forgiven :)

Anyhoo...I'm still in labor and have been since 7am Tuesday morning. Last night they shot me full of Stadol and sent my painful ass home since I'm stuck at 2cm.

I have a doctor's appointment at 10am and have been guaranteed that this baby will be out Friday morning at the latest.

I can't even walk anymore because I'm so sore from contracting. I keep having the feeling that I shouldn't have been sent home.

exhausted

current mood: exhausted

I've been in labor for 30 hours now. I can't go back to the hospital until my water breaks, I'm bleeding like a period, or I'm doubled over in pain so bad that I can't talk or walk. This SUCKS!

I do believe this is IT.

current mood: indescribable

I had a good sleep last night, woke up a few times and noticed I was having mild menstrual-type cramps but in between slept like the dead. Then at 5:15 this morning I had a cramp/contraction strong enough to wake me up, and a feeling of sharp pressure on my cervix, so I decided to see if it might be false labour or whether it was the real deal.

I lay in bed through a couple more contractions (10-15 min. apart), then got up and walked through another couple (they didn't go away), lay down for a few minutes more, then got up, made and ate breakfast, had a shower. The contractions didn't peter out, just got closer together and more intense (although they didn't, and still don't, feel that long, they're lasting about 30-45 seconds each when I time them, and now they're coming 5 min. or so apart).

So, in about twenty minutes I'm going to phone the midwife and tell her I won't be coming in to the office for my scheduled 9:30 appointment today... she'll probably want to talk to me through a contraction and get an idea for where I'm at. I'm a little scared to have her check my dilation in case I'm only 1-2 cm or something depressing like that, but on the other hand, I know that dilation can happen pretty quickly once you're into labour.

I'm planning a homebirth/waterbirth, Lord willing, like I had with my last one. So I'll let you all know how that goes...

Question

curious

current mood: curious

When you ladies went into labor what were some initial signs that it was time? I know the big ones like water breaking and contractions 5 minutes apart and getting stronger. I'm curious about the smaller things like did you get a sudden spurt of energy, start sweating, just have a feeling? I just keep hoping it's time and I look for little signals that my body is ready to do it's thing, but so far nothing. I was just wondering what other people had experienced.

TIA!

So - I'll be 40 weeks pregnant in 2 days.

I barely get any BH contractions, I haven't seen anything like bloody show or my mucus plug, and every once in a blue moon I get a vague crampy feeling that feels like a pale imitation of a normal menstrual cramp. My belly hasn't dropped as far as I can see. I'm not unduly uncomfortable, I can sleep well. I do get pretty insane water retention (total elephant feet), but my blood pressure is way low and there is no protein in my urine to indicate toxemia. So basically other than rare and exceedingly weak crampiness and swollen feet, I have absolutely no symptoms. Well, and the huge-ass belly. Last time my doctor checked, my cervix was rock hard, way up, and closed. That was a week and a half ago.

I'm wondering. Is it possible to go into labor relatively on time without having had ANY pre-labor signs? I know I still have two weeks to go, but that's it. I don't think my doctor would consent to let me go beyond 42 weeks without inducing labor. I'm just concerned about an induction if my body hasn't done any preparation by then.

And no, there is no way I'm wrong about my due date. I know exactly which day I conceived. My due date is August 30. The end of my 42. week is September 12.

[Edit: It's my first pregnancy.]

L & D a long visit full of pain. (exposed.)

Yesterday I was talking about natural induction methods. (I had wanted to try natural induction because my braxton hicks contractions were getting very intense, and painful. Along with all the pain I had been going through myself. Please I don't need to be judged, because I am the only one th at knows what is best for my child and my body.)Well I can now say that 2 of the ones I have tried have helped me reach progress. But not in a comfortable way because it didnt get things moving enough, but it did get things moving. After having sex yesterday (shortly after) about 2 hours later I started having contractions. Not very strong, but contractions. (I also was worried they may just be braxton hicks so I was waiting.) But none the less I had found some sort of hope.
