Cavargna is a comune in the Province of Como in the Lombardy region in Italy.
Location and population
[change | change source]Cavargna is a municipality in the Province of Como in the Italian region of Lombardy. As of 31 December 2025, it had 171 inhabitants. It is located about 57 km by road north of Como, the provincial capital, in the Val Cavargna valley. The municipality lies along the Strada provinciale 11 between San Nazzaro Val Cavargna and Val Rezzo.
Cavargna covers an area of 14.98 km² and borders the canton of Ticino in Switzerland on most of its northern side. The Cuccio river flows through the village. The municipality includes the hamlets of Segalè, Mondrago, Vegna, Dosso-Finsuè, and San Lucio. At an elevation of about 1,071 metres, Cavargna is the highest municipality in the Province of Como.
The neighboring municipalities are Lugano and Ponte Capriasca in Switzerland, and San Nazzaro Val Cavargna and Val Rezzo in Italy. It also borders Bellinzona in Switzerland.
