It does not. I have the resourcess for a Royal Chest in a Royal Chest, right next to me, and I can't use them to build unless I have them directly in my player inventory.

It's frustrating at the moment and you feel as if most of the game is spent running back and forth to chests. Crafting from chest would go a long way to lessen this frustration and leave you the time to have some fun.

Crafting from chests works, no problem (as long as the chest is in range). However you can't build, for example, a table using materials from a chest.

Yeah, I really thought that the chests and upgrading them would allow one to craft from the Build Hammer as well as the various crafting stations.
