creative mode plane won't turn off [SOLVED]

I can't find anything online about this and I really dont know what to do, it makes it almost impossible to build anything in creative mode.

it's supposed to be ctrl + click/hold for the plane building mode but for me no matter what I do it's just always in plane building and I can't turn it off or use line building or anything. same thing for deleting.

First, the default is ctrl+click/hold for LINE building, and ctrl+shift+click/hold for PLANE building. Keyboard might have an issue. Otherwise I suggest verifying game files through Steam.

yes, sorry messed those up because I've never actually been able to use them, I'll try and validate and see if that helps.
