AERENA - Masters Edition

AERENA - Masters Edition

Any chance for a sequel to Aerena?
really loved this game. its unfortunate about the way everything went down, I really think it had the potential to become massively popular. I think its very hard to revive a game's population after a certain point, i wonder if the developers would consider another kickstarter, to fund Aerena 2 or some spiritual successor?

I haven't kept up with the status of cliffhanger studios, hope all is well. happy holidays

The original studio and many of the people involved in the game are gone. As cliffhanger has always been two companies (one for development and one for running the games) the second studio is still alive and retains some of the original staff (about 6 people from the original year 1 crew and some of our later additions, all of which have at some point worked on aerena) .

From a finanical perspective it doesn't look very bright for a future of Aerena, all attempts in all the different areas we tried yielded the same result, there isn't that much interest in the game although as with all our games we have a small and dedicated fan base.
The development costs for Aerena were quite substantial and even preparing and running a kickstarter actually costs a lot of money (At first there would need to be a concept for aerena 2).

That said from all the history cliffhanger has I would never say never but I can't see it in the near future.

Ok, thanks for the thorough, detailed response :) I am guessing the new endevours will be shadowrun related. Maybe if the next projects will be successful, Cliffhanger will be back on top :D so who knows where the future holds. happy holidays!
It is still not decided what we are doing next, but we are getting close.
Thanks for the transparency, something over developers lack strongly. Aerena was a great game and I'm sorry to hear this happened to it.
Some of us here in the office feel the same way.
