Architecture: Get Started

Welcome to the Architecture Research Guide!

This guide is designed to support students, faculty members, and researchers studying architecture, landscape architecture, and design at the University of Waterloo.

With thousands of books, databases, and other resources available to you through UWaterloo Libraries, it can be difficult to know where to start or which tools are best suited to your research needs.

This guide brings together the best places to find information related to architecture, from both inside and outside of the library. In these pages you’ll find:

• Links to print and electronic reference materials and books
• Database recommendations
• Links to useful non-library internet resources
• Tutorials to help you use library resources and architectural software

Have a question you’d like to speak with a human about? The Libraries’ research experts are here to help!

The Architecture Research Librarian is Stephanie Mutch (smutch@uwaterloo.ca). Email Stephanie to ask a question, set up an in-person or virtual meeting, or to book a workshop for your class.

Need help with Geospatial data or software? Katie Brightwell (kbrightwell@uwaterloo.ca) is Musagetes Library’s GIS Specialist. Email Katie with your questions or to book a workshop, and remember to check out the GIS for Architecture guide linked below!
