11:34 pm - community clean-up

grassfire
hey thrifters-

i've been a bad, bad community manager. but i promise i'm back in action now.
i've cleaned all of the 'selling' posts out of the community, and will keep these at bay from now on.

please feel free to start sharing your awesome thrift finds with us all, and i will do the same!

cheers,
ch

If you're naughty, I'll make you pick a card for dinner:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Vintage Betty Crocker recipe file. I bet they were available in several easy installments. For me, only one easy installment of $2.50
I love that there is a section of "man pleasing favorites". Lots of hot dogs. How Freudian.

Haven't been out in awhile.
I don't know how much these were individually, but the bill was less than two bucks.

Groovy mod notecards

How to book "fun with wool". I'm a sucker for these crafty brady bunch style books.

This was the most interesting find. A folio of universal patterns. I think they may have been a "how to sew" type thing. Each "lesson" has full sized patterns and directions. There are at least 80 lessons. These were scattered around, and I found almost all of them, I'm only missing about 10 of the 80. No manufacturer, no copyright, nothing. Many patterns from simple to fancy, for everyone in the family (including dolls!). Everything from nighties to coats, with special seasonal sections. Must be from the late 60s, early 70s, judging by the amount of culottes and capes featured. I'd love to see what else was part of the series.

11:17 am - The Cheap Seats...

honeywest
Yesterday,I went to the final day of an estate sale, looking for bargains and found a few! My favorite by far were these two vintage shoe bags...just a dollar each. Not only do they provide great storage, I love the patterns so much I like them on the outside, almost as art. One I have in my bedroom and the other in my studio/laundry room for both grip equipment and laundry stuff!

11:34 am - Thrift store swap

kittycatalina
I signed up for a swap on Swapbot. Spend $10 at a thrift shop on your partner.
Anyway here's what I found...
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
She said she liked records and patterns and anything unique and vintage. She had a few other likes too, but I was just not having any luck. There are three records, the Grease soundtrack, Petula Clark and Burt Baccarach. The covers alone are pretty funny. I also have two vintage patterns, a 40's Physical Culture magazine with an article about War Rations, some postwar postcards from Occupied Germany, a vintage Japanese woodcut Christmas card, a mod travel sewing kit, and some vintage Tshirt trim still in the package (she said she makes t shirts).
I hope she likes it all, I did try to do stuff she'd like. Not bad for 10 bucks I think!

7:47 pm - thrift store scores: sac's at fruitridge

sharmelon
thrift store score: kodak trimlite instamatic 18 camera

thrift store score: asian-decor vase thing

the camera is from the 1970s and takes 110 film. i'm not sure if it's in working condition, or if i can even get film for it. and the little vase thing measures approx. 5" tall; i might use it to plant another lucky bamboo, since it's the only plant that survives in my apartment. (can you believe our spider plant was dying!?)
