hi, i just thought i would introduce myself. my name is john, i'm a twenty yr old english kid, and i failed school miserably.
right, since nobody likes the guy who turns up to a party without any beer, i figured i'd ask you all a question: today, a friend and i discussed how, if you placed a spaceship on the north pole, an if you placed a spaceship on the south pole, and set both off at the same time, they would both be moving upwards, even though this was in opposite directions. i was wondering, when does a direction stop being upward and become onward? i believe it is to do with gravity, the minute gravity stops having an affect on you then direction becomes meaningless. but i'm dumb, and i'd like verification or condemnation. thanks.
