10:08 pm - Anyone want to take over this community?

Hi folks,

Community mod/owner here.

I'm done on livejournal.

Does anyone want to take over this community?

It's not much work, since it's pretty much dead.

If there are no takers by December 11th (a week from today), I'll just delete it.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

Who has taken the American Lit Foundation course at Trent? What books are on the syllabus? I've heard that Red Badge of Courage and some Ginsberg poetry are there, but anything else you can tell me would be wonderful. Thank you!

09:42 am - Warning!
This is a warning to everyone.
Yesterday at the McDonald's on Landsdown an elderly Asian woman was insulted by a racial slur by a white male. He was holding the door open and when the woman thanked him for holding it he told her "I wasn't holding it for you, go back to where you came from".
This happened around 9:30am the male was around 6 foot, 200pds, white riding a bicycle wearing a toque and sunglasses and black jacket.
I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else but be wary and observant, I fear that this 'person' might become belligerent or violent towards other minorities.

I wanted to buy a college scarf today and was told that they "might" be given out at graduation. Does anyone know for sure if they are?

01:18 pm - Transferring
I'm looking to transfer from another Ontario university for 2nd year (I'm currently in first year). I can't seem to find the necessary information online to do so, is it as simple as applying through OUAC? or is there more to it? I'm going to be transferring from York University if that makes a difference, program to program.. English to English Lit.

03:32 pm - Portables?
Hi it's me, the girl with a barrage of annoying questions!

One of my classes is in EPC 103 - Education Portable Classroom 103. I can't find any area of portables on the Trent campus maps. Where would they be located? :)
Thanks, hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer break. I'm starting on the 30th. D:

05:55 pm - Trent bookstore, huh?
Hi again, some of you might remember me from my last post. This time I'm asking a general question about the bookstore.

I ordered books for six of my ten classes on Friday, right after the published the book lists for each program came up on the online bookstore. Today I was really really surprised that less than half my books were sent to me - the rest being out of stock. This isn't reflected on the website at all (everything is available according to it), so I'm wondering how I will be able to know when they are back in stock so I can re-order.
I don't want to just randomly guess and re-order, etc etc.
I phoned the bookstore and I was really frustrated by the person I was talking to. He spoke really loud and in a voice I can only describe as a game show host and talked about "spokes in a wheel" when I asked about when the out of stocks would arrive. The whole thing was so jarring I didn't even bother to ask the second part of my question, ugh.

Thanks in advance!

03:00 pm - BEd.
I hope this community isn't as dead as I'm guessing it is...

Hi! I'm going to be attending Trent this year for my Bachelor of Education and I have a few questions. Has anyone here finished the 1 year teaching program at Trent? Thoughts? How did you find it in terms of workload and learning experience?
I am also a tad concerned about the first placement we have to do - the supporting readers one. I do have my G2 but I don't have a car. My school is in the Kawartha Pines School District, which is a good 40 minutes away from Trent. This won't be a problem when I have continuous placements in November and February-April, as I'll be living in Toronto and getting a drive in the morning. However, for the twice a week supporting readers I don't know how to go about organizing a carpool of some sort. Did anyone have to do this, and how did you go about it? I was thinking of taking a Facebook approach to it, but is it better to wait until classes start and talk to people face to face?

Also, if anyone here is also entering the teaching program this year please comment! :)

Thanks in advance!
