What is undergroundsong? Underground Song is an art community for subway photography and other city and street photography. This community also accepts subway, city and street-related prose, poetry and stories.
Why was it created? I am honestly fascinated by subways. I love subway photography. I thought it would be neat to create a community where people from all over the world could post images of the subways in their cities. I also love reading subway poetry and prose or humourous experiences people have had on the subway or in the subway station.
What can I post at undergroundsong? Predominately subway photography, of course. I will accept other city and street photography but please do not post beyond those specifications. We don't want to go too off-topic. Please do not advertise on this community. If you have an online portfolio or photo gallery with your other work, you can advertise that link in your posts. But please do not advertise other LiveJournal communities, other non-photography websites or anything of a non-related nature. Also, this is an art community and I realize the subway specifically can be a place of much humour and a place to experience human interaction. Therefore, I will also except subway poetry/prose or personal subway stories. If you feel you have a humourous subway experience to tell, feel free to post that as well.
What are the posting requirements? If you are posting more than one or two small images or any large images, please use the LJ-cut tool (< lj-cut > images here < /lj-cut > [without the spacing between the < and >]). Or, if you prefer a cut with text: < lj-cut text="click" > (again, without the spacing). Please use the LJ-cut tool for longer pieces of poetry and prose as well. It will make the appearance of the community a lot cleaner and keeps people's Friends pages kosher. As for comments: no bashing, no hateful remarks, just constructive criticism, comments and compliments. If you don't know what constructive criticism is, you shouldn't be here.
Where can I upload my images? If you do not have a personal domain to upload your pictures to, you can simply go to a free image hosting site such as PhotoBucket or VeryDirtyLaundry, create an account, and link your images from the specified URLs. The image tag is as follows: < img src="http://yoururl.com/image.jpg" > [without the spaces].
What are the community rules? 1. You can join this community even if you are not a photographer, but do try to give the photographers feedback on their posts. 2. As previously mentioned, comments on entries cannot include bashing or put-downs of any kind. Only constructive criticism is allowed. 3. If the rules of the community or LiveJournal are disobeyed, I have the right to remove you from the community and delete your membership. 4. Have fun. This community does not believe in elitism of any kind. The guidelines provided here are not excessive and basically just human courtesy and common knowledge. This is a place to come to be inspired, to be creative and to meet new people. Take advantage of that.
