Battle formation

From Undertale Wiki

What a nightmare!

Flavor text for the Final Froggit, Whimsalot, and Astigmatism formation

In Undertale, enemy encounters are randomly triggered while walking in most overworld areas. When an encounter begins, up to three enemies can appear on the battle screen. More, or different, formations may appear depending on how far the protagonist is along each location.

Each room in which encounters are possible pulls from a designated list of battle formations.[1] This article lists all potential battle formations that can appear in each of the four main locations.

Notes

  1. ↑ While Froggit hallway and rotating switch puzzle rooms reference obj_encounterer_ruins5, the one switch puzzle references obj_encounterer_ruins6, which pulls from the same group of enemies.
  2. ↑ If Snowdrake is killed, battle formations involving him are replaced with a functionally identical formation involving Chilldrake.
