Each day, we are given at least three opportunities to practice compassion by leaving cruelty off our plates. Contrary to what some people say, adopting a vegan lifestyle isn’t all about sacrifice. In fact, many find that it opens them up to a universe of yummy foods and like-minded people. Furthermore, individual vegans, on average, save more than 100 lives a year – and by taking their compassion one step further and advocating for farm animals, these same individuals could have a hand in saving thousands more. With animal production responsible for a large percentage of greenhouse gas emissions, animal food products the cause of a number of diseases plaguing our country, and approximately 10 billion land animals killed for food in the U.S. each year, there’s never been a more critical time to go vegan and start advocating for farm animals.
Explore the nuts and bolts of veganism, and learn how to ramp up your farm animal activism in a way that empowers and excites you by joining us for From Veganism to Activism, an interactive workshop led by Farm Sanctuary Campaigns Manager Jasmin Singer. With the help of audience members, Jasmin will nimbly take on topics such as the cruelty, environmental degradation and health risks associated with factory farming – and what you can do to stop it.
Speaker Info: Jasmin Singer, Farm Sanctuary’s campaigns manager, is one of the voices behind the blogs “Making Hay” and “VEGdaily,” and her writing has also appeared in blogs such as “Crazy Sexy Life” and “Civil Eats,” as well as print publications like Satya and Heeb. Jasmin is also a contributor to VegNews Magazine. She has presented at numerous conferences including the Let Live NW Animal Rights Conference, Taking Action for Animals, SUNY Social Justice Conference, and Farm Sanctuary’s Country Hoe Down. Last year, at age 29, VegNews named her a “20 Under 30.”

My family went to the Rutherford Pancake House yesterday since a friend told they have a vegan menu, which you can see at their website: http://www.rutherfordpancakehouse.com/
We walked in and we sat down and the waitress gave us the vegan menu, which is separate from their regular menu. I asked the waitress how she knew we wanted the vegan menu, and she said "Haven't you guys been here before?" I said no but we wanted the vegan menu so thank you!
It was really good. My husband got the Tofu Scramble, Chili Con Fu and I got pancakes with strawberries. We got a side of vegan sausage as well. mmm it was so good. I would recommend the Tofu Scramble over the pancakes. The pancakes were good but the scramble was so good!
The owners told us that they are not vegan but thought the vegan menu would be a great idea and the vegan menu has really taken off. They are going to put the vegan menu in with the regular menu. We went because of the vegan menu.
We then walked down the street to the Sweet Avenue Bake Shop (http://sweetavenuebakeshop.com/index.html) and got two awesome cupcakes. The owners of the Pancake House are friends with the Sweet Avenue Bake Shop!
It was an awesome day of delicious.

I've noticed that there are quite a few animal advocacy groups surrounding the Northern NJ area, but none that are local enough for me to get involved with regularly so out of that was born the idea for the North Jersey Animal Advocacy Alliance. (you can also find the NJAAA on facebook)
Our first meeting is set for March 21, so if you're in the Northern New Jersey area and would like to attend, you can RSVP through facebook or by email. We're just starting out, so this is a great way to get involved and help mold an organization at its inception. Ideally, we plan on having meetings once a month aside from attending other various events.
Please feel free to contact me (via email) with any questions.

would anyone be interested in splitting a share with me? (a season's share is $600, so i definitely can't afford a whole share)
we would probably be getting the share from moorestown. so if you're near moorestown, cherry hill or collingswood, that'd be ideal.

::edit:: i wrote to them, and chesterfield, bordentown and trenton are also still available if you want to purchase a share from those locations.
