I learnt a new word today: sesquipedalian. It comes from the Latin sesquipedalis, meaning a foot-and-a-half long. As you can guess, it refers to words that are both lengthy and a little obscure. For example, proverbs expressed in sesquipedalian terms! |

White supremacy is an ideology which holds that the white race (variously defined) is superior to other races (also variously defined). White supremacy is most often thought of in connection with anti-black racism and anti-Semitism, though it has also been used to justify discrimination against Native Americans, Chinese, Irish, Southeast Asians, and others. For example, politically, socially and economically, the United States before and after Reconstruction was white supremacist, as was apartheid-era South Africa. The extent and nature of white supremacy's continuing influence in Western culture is a subject of ongoing, intense debate.
Capitalist has been defined in various ways (see Capitalism). In common usage it refers to an economic system in which all or most of the means of production are privately owned and operated (commonly for profit), and where investments, production, distribution, income, and prices are determined largely through the operation of a free market rather than by centralized state control (as in a command economy).
A patriarch (from Greek: patria means father; arché means rule, beginning, origin) is a male head of an extended family exercising autocratic authority, or, by extension, a member of the ruling class or government of a society controlled by senior men. The word patriarch also denotes certain high-ranking bishops in some hierarchical churches; see patriarch; the word patriarchy (or patriarchate) in that case refers to his seat and domain.

Also, the word 'gnosis'.
I know, I steal from Hedwig and the Angry Inch's list of possible names for Tommy. So shoot me. Hedwig is creative. I am not. Period. |
