11:39AM - School year job?

Hey dudes, for the summer, I've been working for a moving and storage company as a packer. The office is is 10 minutes away from campus. My boss asked me to keep my eyes and ears peeled for someone who would be interested moving and/or packing during the school year who has full days off. The jobs are only Monday-Friday but you would need a full day because that's how long the jobs last. If you'd be interested- reply to this entry.

Is it just me or does the rooms (in the towers) seen a little smaller than the ones in North/South Hall???

And did anyone even get there room phone number information, mail box key or laundry card???
I didn't even get that info, I had to check what my # was by calling my cell phone.
I got my mail box key today, but somehow I never got a laundry card the other day.

I just don't get why there is only 2 shelves in the toilet/sink room. And then 2 shelves in that sink area. And then the one in the shower looks like its just 3 shelves? Unless someone uses the very top???

To anyone that is living in the Towers, or recently went on a tour (probably showing you all of those suites that they had)

For suite A.. (the one with just 2 bedrooms) well from the pic of those 2 bathrooms, is one of those bathrooms just with a sink & toilet. And for the other one does that one just have a shower? And is there a sink in the walk in area? Is there anything next to the shower?? and is it another sink or a toilet. Does anyone know? Or have seen suite A???

12:02PM - TRANSFER?

Well I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Abenaa and I am from Flushing Michigan and I am considering transfering to Wayne state in the fall. I have already sent in my application online and sent my transcripts and now all i have to do is wait for a reply. I was wondering what the campus is like and if it is fun and what is there to do? Is it hard to meet people? what are the classes like? are the teachers good? Is it hard to get in? I went to a community college this year and i was able to get a 3.0 gpa but idk if that was good enough. I would like to be in the Pre-Med program. also is anyone in that program and have any ideas about what i should do or just tell me about ur experience. leave a comment please everyone! thanks. Abenaa~

9:42PM - Register for Alternative Spring Break: Detroit

Alternative Spring Break: Detroit is a substance-free spring break spent volunteering with social issues that affect our urban core. ASBD 2005 will take place from Sunday, March 13 at 5 p.m. to Friday, March 18 at 12 p.m.

What issues we will be exploring:

*Diversity: We will discover why we are one of the most racially segregated regions in the nation, as well as discuss how this creates barriers in community dialogue, and how that intersects with hunger and poverty.
*Crime/blight: We will take an inside look at the criminal justice system, as well as discover why the removal of blight is so essential in combating the conditions which stimulate crime and blight to accumulate.
*Arts/culture: We will discover how local artists are contributing to the growing positivity attached to Detroit, as well as the struggles they go through in order to establish themselves and their ideals in the inner city.
*City Revitalization: We will go behind the scenes with businesses and city development projects that are changing the face of Detroit.

Volunteering

Our afternoons will be spent volunteering at three different volunteer sites related to our issues: Hunger Action Coalition, Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision, and People's Community Services. Volunteers will package up food, remove blight from neighborhoods, and produce a play with children at a community center, respectively.

Trip Highlights

*Tour SuperBowl XL Headquarters at Ford Field!
*Visit local art galleries!
*Go behind the scenes at 36th District Court & the Juvenile Detention Center!
*Learn about the history of Detroit!
*Dine at ethnic restaurants throughout the city!
*Meet new people at WSU!
*Make a difference!

Requirements:

*You must be a current WSU student.
*You must agree to substance-free policy (no tolerance policy on alcohol and drugs).
*You must be willing to commit the whole week.

The cost of participating in the program is $50/participant. It is all-inclusive.

We still have a few open slots. If you’d like to apply, or find out more information, visit http://projectvolunteer.tripod.com/id6.html.
